(wiki says) that in January the organization was informed he had severe pneumonia and needed two years of break from work; on 19th March he died.

I met Marshall Govindan twice some years ago, and almost ended up in his school. I found it very cool, a very dedicated, knowledgable, loving teacher, many (from what I heard and observed) successfull pupils. Good teaching, structured, concerned about transmitting the complete techniques and the whole system. I also remember Marshall Govindan spoke about daoist practice in high regard, he held the opinion that they shared a lot of common ground with the siddha tradition. (There's also a story in this school that siddha Boganathar supposedly taught alchemy as Wei Boyang in China, whatever one might think about the historic truth of this...) as to the practices: some of the detailed meditation prescriptions I found almost Bardon-style, various pranayamatechniques I have never come across elsewhere, precise subtle anatomy visualisation-practices... all very good... affenbrot

I drink a lot of, ehm what's the english word here... ersatz kaffee (grain coffee? Malt coffee?) these days. (we call it muckefuck) It contains rosted zichorie and other rosted non coffeebean stuff. If one makes it thick and strong the taste goes into the direction of real coffee. It is supposed to be healthfood, what it does to my PH i don't know though. affenkaff

not exactly fitting into the topic of this thread here, anyway, I found this very cool website yesterday: www.worldmapper.org they have tons of these morphed maps (- I had posted one some time ago in an attempt to demagogically imply some thing or other) now I really enjoyed browsing those images on that site.

I believe that total absent of grief and sadness of those left behind could disturb a just departed soul much more than crying and despair. Maybe it even depends on cultural expectations... in some places excessive mourning is just part of the production and lack of it would unbalance the whole affair. I would never hold back my emotions towards a person who died and whom I loved or cherished. affenbrot

taomeow, thanks for the further info. Before your previous post I never ever heard ideas about tobacco like that! will probably check out the book you recommend.

hu!? - I'm not educated in this field but to suggest that nicotine could become a nutrient to the body sounds outlandish. Chemistry is not Biochemistry! yeah, makes sense. I smoked nothing but some cloves . Rumours have it the indonesian kreteks use mostly tobacco without chemicals - apart from the "sauce" that flavours it. I googled these and interesting enough the man who invented them intended to heal his asthma with it. The story goes he was successfull. Probably a short term effect in a way QiDr mentioned (and the rest nice propaganda to create a positive image)? @ QiDr: thanks a lot for your very interesting info!! (it had not occurred to me to eat tobacco so far though ) affenbrot

Plato I can see only the best intentions behind your acting, and I haven't even read the book, and I even have no experience in parenting BUT I think applying "undivided attention" to a baby is big BS. I sense buddhist technique here that I believe is fundamentally hostile to (baby)live. To give a child indifference in your emotional response or even project non-identification or similar onto it means hurting it in a voyeuristic way. So maybe with this book the live story of buddha whose mother died after seven days of his birth reacts itself through distorted concepts.... and the comparison to mengele isn't far fetched, the SS had in a way an almost boddhisattvic ideal of improving man..applied with emotion-free indifference. why sustain your free flowing spontaneous response towards the suffering of a child?? doesnt't need to be mr spock as the only alternative?! just my thoughts. (being in a antibuddhist mood anyhow) affenbrot -
I have just done two "amazing liver cleanses", one in Oktober, one in November. Besides people commented on my better complexion and smoother skin I'm not sure what benefits i have gained yet. But seeing the amazing amounts of emerald green (inside, when cut open) lumps of cholesterol (supposedly) aka "gallstones" that (supposedly) were clogging my bile ducts....I belief it is a good thing to get this muck out of my body anyway. I think the long term effects could be worth risking short term qi depletion through this admittedly radical cleanses. In fact after my second cleanse my liver yin deficiency (I have a tendency towards these anyhow) worsend and I went to see my chinese doctor. The herbal remedy he gave me seems to balance it very good, so it does not look like I created some grave imbalance that needs long treatment. Probably I will make a brake in winter and see when I feel like doing my next round in spring. (on the average it is said one needs 6-7 cleanses to clear old deposits from the liver) affenbrot

seem to be different forms going under the same name or what? Does anybody know any other sources for the Wuji Gong that Zhu Hui thaught besides Michael Winn's Tai Chi for Enlighenment DVD (which is very good imho)? Right now this is about the only practice I do and I like it quite a bit, but would be curious to see how other people who learned with Zhu Hui perform it.

I tracked you down in the astral, Michael taught me to do so no! just kidding. I was very much inspired by your contributions on the HT Forum (though I hardly participated), and I had it in the back of my mind that you were somewhere off - hope this isn't something intimate I shouldn't have told here - apologies if so affenbrot

what irritates me is that these things are brought up again even though they are about issues dating back almost 15 years now. The speed and intensity David Verdesi seems to learn has him in a different place now, i would guess. He's adopted by a buddhist neikung practitioner and seems to be a close disciple of Wang Liping - people would still have to show me how these guys 'lack heart'. On the other hand, we almost have no info about him available, no wonder we discuss rumours. affenbrot
