Taoist Wisdom, or Power v Insight
goldisheavy replied to forestofsouls's topic in General Discussion
The most important wisdom practice by far is contemplation. The reason for this is that our minds are structured by beliefs, most of which are so deep, that they are implicit and unconscious. This structure is important, because if you understand it, you will also understand how to avoid unnecessary pain, and you will also know how to NOT avoid certain pain that you understand to be essential to face head on, and at the ultimate level of insight, you will learn how to restructure your mind completely to your own liking. That means you will become the lord of your core beliefs, instead of getting these installed into you by other people such as friends, relatives, peers, authorities and Gurus. This means you will become responsible for what you believe, and you won't be able to blame others for your own inconsistent and poorly structured core beliefs. Meditation cannot even begin to touch this, because meditation is a passive practice, whereas contemplation is active. And why is this important? It's important because perception is not a purely passive phenomenon. We "perceive" phenomena into existence via our beliefs! So seeing is not just noticing, but it's also envisioning! It's a creative and a participatory act. You make it so by seeing. So meditation is useful and important, but because it is passive it fails to give you the full picture. Mostly meditation deepens and confirms what you already believe. But what meditation doesn't give you is an idea that if you change your beliefs and meditate again, your entire meditation experience will be drastically different. For example, most people here believe in the concept of energy as something inherently real. So when they meditate, guess what? They notice energy! Of course! The mind tends to confirm its beliefs in meditation. If you continue to meditate, you can refine that perception -- you can notice more details, more nuances, you can gain influence over this energy and discover connections between this energy and other phenomena and so on. But what you will never get is an ability to transcend energy altogether. Why not? That's because your meditation is predicated on energy, isn't it? For most people that's a true statement. For those people there is no way, no chance, no opportunity to experience anything else in meditation. Contemplation is a process that allows you to put anything to a deep questioning process. If you ask yourself contemplatively, what is energy? You might discover it's not what you thought it was. Then if you meditate subsequently to that realization, you may get a totally different experience. You may perceive something that's energy-less or is beyond energy altogether. And then you may understand -- neither energy perception nor energy-less perception is THE truth, but just "a truth". Then you may ask yourself a question like this, "If beliefs create different types of experiences, are some beliefs better than others?" Then you are well on your way toward being responsible for your own beliefs. Then instead of reading what to believe from this or that Guru, you will have the tools to inspect and test and select your own beliefs. Neither energy nor meditation cannot give you that degree of freedom, because both meditation and energy work are mechanistic processes where you know in advance what you expect to happen. In Buddhism all the jhanas are explained. You know what to expect. You can go to a teacher in Buddhism and this teacher will then "confirm" whether you had a jhana or not, because they have certain expectations for them. This means jhanas are just conventional, therefore mundane, forms of mind, and are not spiritual in the least. The only way to transcend convention is to rely on your own original unborn uncreated wisdom. This reliance is in no way mechanistic. It cannot be explained in terms of steps to follow. I cannot tell you what to expect from the practice of contemplation. I cannot certify your results either, and no one else can. -
I want to say something about healing. The original meaning of the word "heal" is "to make whole again". Reference: http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=heal This is important to keep in mind. Since I have suffered from numerous conditions and have healed them as well, I've been on both sides of the coin -- I have created diseases and have eliminated them, so I believe I am in a good position to say a few things about healing. All disease starts as something subtle in the deep mind or the deep heart or deep being of a person. It starts as a contradiction or a split of some kind. This then can be attended by emotions such as either sadness and depression, or anger and fury. As the person dwells on the split, often not even realizing there is a split, the emotions mount and the feelings become more and more clear. Eventually the feelings can become so clear that they manifest as physical presentations. So for example, if I don't like what I see in the world, there is a split between me and the world. If I perceive that intent is unbroken, how can I not like what the world shows if that's just one intent? I can only dislike it if I believe my intent is not the same as the world's intent. That's a split. This then can be accompanies by anger. This anger can then be taken out on myself. In my case I wanted to destroy my left eye. Eventually it manifested as the most severe condition that required a trip to ER a few times, and one time I had to get a shot of morphine derivative pain killer. This should give you an idea of how strong the pain was. BTW, the condition was called "recurrent corneal erosion". And guess what? The Western doctors are basically clueless about it and the things they told me were garbage. They said things like "you scratched your eye", but I haven't. When I said I haven't, they denied what I said, and reasserted their point of view again, "No you probably have when you were a kid and forgot." See how that works? They are brainwashed and they really don't care about your experience. They were taught a certain way about conditions and if what you say doesn't match what they were taught, they will ignore what you say. The same is often true of ANY doctors, including the Eastern ones, who are taught OTHER dogma, but it is still dogma nonetheless. One time I "accidentally" flapped a towel corner straight into my sick eye. Another time my dog stepped, with his entire weight, his paw sinking into my skull, right on my sick eye. These are NOT coincidence! The mind is that powerful. When I introverted my anger and turned it into a wish for self-destruction, it not only manifested a disease, but external "physical" conditions also started to happen in accordance with my intent. I couldn't feel the wish for self-destruction right away, but I felt it very quickly anyway. I meditated on my condition 24/7, using mindfulness and I contemplated and analyzed what was happening to me, I was attentive too, not just thinking. Very soon I saw how I wanted to destroy a part of myself, since I didn't want to destroy others, and I wanted to destroy something, since I wasn't happy with what there was. Now then, how to heal. First, when the condition is very severe, there is an emergency, and I have no problem whatsoever with using medications and almost any kind of intervention for emergency. That's why I was happy to visit the ER. However, medium and long term, I can't count on Western medicine, because for my condition they basically said "there is no cure", which is bullshit. So, in an emergency, use whatever you can to blunt the force of the disease. Second, after the emergency is over, there is agony. Now is a good time to NOT be in a hurry to heal, but rather to take this rare opportunity to contemplate one's own identity and the range of one's own perceptions. That's exactly what I did and I am glad I did. I recommend the same. Now when I have received a full measure of blessings from that condition I thought it was time to put an end to it. The attitude is to be kind and soft to oneself on one hand, but on the other hand, not to be desperate for a cure. One has to embrace the possibility of living with infinite pain forever and NOT be scared of it. One should transcend the plane of suffering and the plane of limited identities. At the same time, why wish harm? Therefore, even if you embrace harm, there is no need to actively intend harm, so intend kindness. Kindness is softness. Softness and kindness and love is felt in the body and in the eye. There is relaxation. Aggression and anger go away. So in medium term it helps to really control the mind. But there is a trick! When the eye is 90% healed, if you still try to care for it mentally, you can simply perpetuate the disease. So! When 90% healed or when 95% healed, now it is time to FORGET! FORGET FORGET FORGET that you ever had a problem! Let go of it. Don't try to heal it anymore. What is the meaning of this? It's like if you get a cast on your arm to let the bone heal, but if you don't take it off, you can eventually kill your arm with the cure! So the cure has to be abandoned at the right time. So for me that meant to stop using the ointment at night. These small steps can take some courage, because of how much pain I have experienced upon waking up, at one point, I was afraid to sleep, and this was WITH the ointment in the eye and sometimes other medicine and so on. Now imagine sleeping with nothing? Wow! Like walking without a crutch again. A little scary, eh? No problem. I sleep without the ointment. The eye did get a bit raw in the morning, but I embrace the sensation with calmness, kindness, softness and non-attachment (that is to say, no pity for myself). Because I was using kindness, I would sometimes put the ointment back on and then stop using it again. Eventually I simply stopped using it. During those times I had to experience what seemed like periods of regressions, but I knew in my heart I was healing 100%. It's very important, because it's very easy to interpret a little worsening as a failure and one must NOT fall for that trap. There are no failures in healing. Everything makes sense and has a purpose. So now I am pretty much back to normal. If anyone has any health conditions, I hope this helps you. EDIT: forgot to mention, I have also used my own urine to heal the eye. My usage of urine is symbolic. It means I piss on my eye, so there is no attachment to the eye, but at the same time, there is kindness! So when I put the urine in my eye, I felt the healing energies of it. Regardless, simply feeling this way makes it heal, and urine is perfectly clean and the sting of it is tolerable and healing in its own right. There you go! Now you have all my secrets.

I prefer to use reason and kindness. When I have a dispute with someone, I never just call them a name. My usual manner is to first express my distaste for what's been said (that's also kindness), and then I never fail to produce good reasons for my distaste. The kindness is in that I never disempower the weak. I only disempower the strong and empower the weak. The reason for that is because the power pyramid is very unbalanced right now with too many weak people groveling in front of fake strong people (basically other weak people who jostled their way into a certain social position that carries some social weight with it). The problem with our current power distribution is that neither people at the top nor at the bottom of the pyramid are progressing in an optimal fashion. The one's at the top make too much of themselves and the ones at the bottom diminish themselves way too much. Further, the ones at the top do not transfer REAL power to the ones at the bottom, but instead they keep consolidating and solidifying their own power and keep building distinctions between themselves and those they consider to be below them. This I will stop. I do not respond well to force (attempts at unreasoned invalidation are force). If anyone wants to tame me and to bend me to your cause, two things work well: kindness and/or reason. But try force, and I will just allow whatever energy is in me to flow. Vajrasattva has provoked me for no good reason. I was making a purely logical comment about how a person cannot surrender to God, since it makes no logical sense. He couldn't handle that and attacked my person. Now if you try to protect him, both you and him will burn, because essentially your intent is hostile and debasing. Now, I respect the forum rules a great deal, but I respect my own commitments far more. I won't wantonly violate the forum rules, but I will violate them without hesitation when certain sacred commitments take precedence over what your forum rules are. And you do what you will with that.
-
I have a question for Vajrasattva: How can you charge for something that isn't yours? MTS's explanation was "karma balance." What is your excuse?
-
Vajrasattva, one more thing. People like you only respect those who can bash your skull in. You don't understand anything except brute force. You should reflect on this deficiency of yours. Trying to add this as a separate post... Silly board wants to combine posts, and sometimes it's OK and other times I really mean to make a separate post.

God does not have parts. If you want to work with the God concept, which is not necessary, the correct way to view it is to say that there is only God. Period. End of story. No parts and no other things. No egos. No Shaitan and so on. Just God dreaming whatever the fuck God wants to dream up, forever and ever and beyond time. For fun and for reasons that can't be explained.
-
Vajrasattva, there is no Allah at all. When you talk about Allah, you talk about a concept. Even if you talk about non-conceptual mind you talk about concept. If you talk about a difference between conceptual and non-conceptual, that's a concept. Non-conceptual is a concept. Finally concepts are not conceptual. You say I know only theory. You're a moron. You can go and fuck yourself. I know what Allah wants me to know, same as you moron. I also know there is no Allah. Anyway, enough of this bullshit wing flapping. I am here to share understanding and not to measure myself against anyone. Oh yea, and Mohammed is a child rapist and many Muslims are violent and intolerant people. You can tell this by how strict and rule oriented they are. There is very little room for much of anything in Islamic culture. Everyone is subdued. You think this practice subdues ego, but in reality, you create bigger and bigger ego, as we can all see this. Your self-image is deluded because you take yourself seriously. Now please go and fuck yourself. Thank you. "These are some attributes of the "WALI" the saints and not even they claim or dare to say they know what ALLAH knows. You are far from this in this here and now. Cause if you could do this you would say that what I am saying is "HAQQ" (Truth)." Blah blah yada yada. That's mental masturbation. ARI the Kabbalist could do that and same stories are told about many, many people. But I know how it all works anyway, why talk about ARI?

I understand. I don't see what is the point of remembering God and getting beaten at the same time though. If you remember God, you don't need to also get slapped. There are different ways to transfer the symbol's power to oneself. Training is one such way. When we train, we try to convince ourselves that we can assume a new identity. Another way is through an initiation ritual. Another way is through magic. But basically it's all the same in the sense that the body is a construct of mind, and it can be made to have whatever quality you want. Do you ever wonder why do some people get big muscles from lifting weights and others do not? It has nothing to do with the weights and the regiment, but it has to do with the intent and the envisioning of one's own new body. This is also why some people stop growing muscles after some time, or stop gaining strength, it's because they have beliefs that block further manifestation. Interesting people you hang with. Have you had any success stepping outside the recipes yet? Sounds mysterious! You have piqued my interest. I can. Of course! Don't you know anything? You respect him deeply and that is fine. But keep this in mind, the mind has LIMITLESS ability to manifest anything. You can emanate a Guru that is 10000 billion times more impressive, and that Guru will also be an illusion. There is something higher. It's called a recognition of not having anything to surrender. But you can't fake it though. If you don't have an authentic recognition, you really should surrender, but don't be stupid. Keep your mind open and critical as you surrender. What are you surrendering to? Who is doing the surrendering? Can power divest of itself? You are positive? What are you Allah? You just make conjecture. I know what Allah knows, don't doubt it. But keep in mind my intention too.

Another purpose is to become confident in the emptiness of phenomena. But for that, there are many options besides tummo. For body purification, again, many options exist. The body is symbolic. The purity is symbolic. The dirt is symbolic. If you understand that, you can purify anything in very many different ways, but the principle is the same.
-
The principles are never complicated. It's the details that are complicated. I asked you to teach a principle behind FU and not the details. The principle can be taught in a few paragraphs. LOL. So are you saying you are immortal now since you know how to make FU? So far you haven't shared one single thing that could help people to become immortal. You're just sharing mundane knowledge and even then you don't share the principles behind it, you just share the wrappers and then ask for money if anyone wants the candy. But even if people pay money for candy you still refuse to explain the principle behind the candy. No it's not. It's when you take fantasy for reality it's illness. But if you take fantasy for fantasy it is fun and healthy and very beneficial in many ways. So tell me, what you are doing, is it real or is it a fantasy? What do you think?
-
When I teach people, I don't teach them my own stuff, I teach them what they already know. That's why I don't request payment. What I do is honest. But what you do is pretentious, and you request payment for your pretense as well. That's because mathematics is a mundane science and all mundane knowledge costs money. That's the very essence of mundanity. But mundanity is something we aim to transcend here, and Dao has a way to transcend it. And it doesn't involve selling or buying anything as a necessary precondition. No, I will also rely on friends who treat me well, and not people who want to lord over me. I have Dao in my head. Same as Fu Hsi and the Yellow Emperor and Zhuangzi. How about you? What do you have? A z80 8-bit CPU? What do you have? Anyway, if anyone wants to donate money, I recommend they donate it to people in need and not to any temple, unless that temple helps to liberate people from fears instead of perpetuating fears and superstitions. There are reputable charities and there are homeless people everywhere. Just go there and donate money or food. Finally, it's easier to donate money because it's just a dollar bill in your pocket, or a little click click on the computer. But to donate an object like food or a towel takes effort. You have to buy it and wrap it and send it. At the very least you have to fill out more information and click more times on the computer. And if you mean attachment, that's very individual. Some people are more attached to objects, some more to cache, and some are just attached to laziness and don't care if it's money or objects, but just care what requires less body movement to do. Considering this is an individual quality and you said that money is always harder to donate, you are again lying.
-
You are welcome and thank you too.
-
It's actually exactly the opposite of this. Whatever you learn on your own you get to keep. But whatever you have been entrusted with, is later on taken away from you, because you get that knowledge conditionally, whereas your own learning is unconditional. Considering how you consistently deceive people, why would anyone expect you to become truthful if they pay money? You are spreading lies and deceptions, and this creates very heavy retributive energy for you. MTS, you accumulate especially bad energy, because if you were spreading the same lies as a regular person, you wouldn't be taken as seriously. But some people take you more seriously because of your position within society. Because of this reason you get far more bad energy. I don't understand how you intend to fix that imbalance. Oh wait, I do accept donations! Send your check or money order to me. Info available upon request. In your case you will need to donate a LOT of money, considering all the money you stole from people and the lies you've spread about people's true nature.

I eat food because I like how it tastes. If I don't have access to food, there is no problem. Starving and dying is not a big deal. We all have to die anyway. I've had a full life with all kinds of adventure. If I am not content now, I will NEVER be content. What will make me happy? I've experienced all kinds of experiences. What will make me satisfied? If I am not satisfied by now I can't be satisfied ever, for sure. This is why I am quite satisfied. I am well fed with life. I've eaten my share, and if you want me to die, I will perhaps die a little sooner, because I don't want to be together with people who understand so little of me. But just for fun I might take a little piece of you with me. You might need a lot of FU in that case. You'll be like a Christmas tree! Hahaha.. you'll be covered with FU from head to toe? Do you want that? Nah, I am just kidding. Don't worry. I just like to play with you. No difference. So why don't you explain the principle behind the FU so people can make their own charms in English. Then I will not be mad at you. But unless you do it, I will be angry at you. What a stupid man you are. Even when I think, each of my thought costs me blood, sweat and tears. There is nothing free in me. When I move it's not free -- I sacrifice my life and health even for trivial actions like taking a shit on the toilet. Do you understand what I am trying to tell you? What is free? Even if I ask you to give me a million FU for free, I have earned them all and then some. Even a single vowel coming out of my mouth is worth a trillion billion universes filled up with the precious stones. Do you understand now? Now then, I ask that you teach people the core principles behind how things work and stop fooling around with trivia. We are not playing Jeopardy here. "Daoism for 400 please!" That's not a game we are playing. If you don't want to teach anything of real value, and if all you want to do is to throw out advertisement and bait, then expect me to continue in the same vein as I have been. You know, if you like to keep your stuff secret, you can do so without telling everyone how wonderful your secret is? Do you understand? There is great dishonesty in what you are doing. Just stating you have secrets is already dishonest right then and there. And you don't have the special wisdom to do that kind of action without harm to yourself, so you need to follow morality if you want to be healthy. And so far you have been engaging in all kinds of false speech. You are spreading delusion. When people come to you they don't get wiser, they just confirm their silly superstitions. Instead of liberating people from their fear, you tell them to wear a little doodad or suffer. So the person knows if they take off the FU or disrespect it, they will suffer. So you are prolonging and enforcing the fear. You are doing absolutely NOTHING to LIBERATE fear. NOTHING. Now if you don't correct your ways very soon, I am going to say that you must be a Mara on the account of your willful ignorance.
-
Ahhh.... this is music to my ears! Most excellent! I feel significantly better and relieved. I can also feel many Maras are becoming a little depressed now.
-
Thank you! It just makes more fun to read you. You seem intelligent and I don't want to struggle reading you because it looks like you have interesting things to say. Not quite! Those things like lineages, people, places are all my own emanations. Don't try to spread ignorance here, because no one is buying it. I emanate the ornaments of my own wisdom. There is not a yota of knowledge anywhere that is not my knowledge. I read something anywhere it is my own mind and nothing more. All the lineages can make an attempt to disappear if they like, but the problem is, they are the representations of my intent, so they are powerless but appear how I want them to appear. In fact, if I wonder off and I ask a stranger to transmit to me the secret teachings, ANY stranger I pick, that stranger will immediately do so and give me any empowerment I want. That's because I can emanate any ability in any person as I please, for fun, to play and for no other reason. Street bums wisper all kinds of things to me, as well as apparently "mundane" coworkers and you name it. My wife is a Buddha. So is my dad. So am I. I was born in a Buddha family and appearances are either pure or defiled based on my fancy. If I like I shall burn the whole world and myself included. Or give everyone a loly pop. Whatever. It really pisses me off a great deal when people run around, using my power to do things I don't allow them to do (but of course I do.. it's like having two puppets on two hands... the puppet on the left hand will win the battle, because that's what I want, and that's the play, so the puppet on the right hand is doing bad things against my will, because I identity closer to the puppet on the left, but this identification is for fun, it's not who I am). So now then, will people please stop stealing my own shoes and try to sell them back to me for a price? I ask nicely for now, before I get violent, unless I get bored and sleepy, which is also a distinct possibility. Yea right, like this is some clever design with a grand purpose. It's just an emanation and it has whatever purpose I want it to have. In my case I say it is a waste of time and a hindrance and I wipe it away now. It is gone. Bullshit! We appreciate good advice and pointers. What we don't like are swindles and disempowerment. And then we don't like the cop out answers like "hey this disempowerment is just to test your mettle...if you have the real stuff it won't affect you". Hahaha... FUCK THAT! Not only will it not affect me, but I don't need any tests! Who the fuck is anyone or anything to test me? I don't even care what I feel or think, what kind of test are we talking about? I have a conditional care, and that is, if people want to play nice, I want to share something beautiful. But if people will be assholes, especially people who should know better, I will not always be nice. We appreciate friendship, but we don't like rulers. We are not arrogant at all, but nor are we carpets to walk on either. Now, I am giving these gentle warnings before letting completely loose. I ask all the unnecessary and bogus tests to stop. Challenges are useless. If you like challenge, why don't you stick a fork in your eye? I certainly don't need any challenge. I realize it's the left hand playing against right. Whether I win or lose a challenge it's a game. There is no ACTUAL challenge because the intent is always whole, singular. There are no two intents. But if there are men of high attainment who have dedicated their lives to studying the codes of conduct alone, don't you think they're worth a small amount of in depth probing to really find the mechanism under which they operate? No. They should be cremated without rituals. What you should study is your own mind. Don't waste your time studying "other men" because all men are you. YOU ARE ALL MEN. Study yourself and you will understand ALL behavior -- from psychotic, to mundane, to immortal and everything in between. I understand every possible behavior and motivation and every possible and conceivable psychodynamic is open to me. There is no need to study any men. Besides, knowledge is always fallible. Knowledge is not passive perception. Perception is not passive. Perception is as much a creation as it is a perception. So there is a trick to it. You can't ever see "how it is", only how you envision it. A man blind from birth who sees visions cannot perceive the true rainbow or the false rainbow. Do you understand? Baseless and creative visions cannot be perfected. At some point you get the principle and take a different identity regardless of appearance. There is no way to "work yourself into" anything that's significantly different from who you are now. If you want to make a real change, a different tactic is required. You seem to be very... preoccupied with the individuals "rights" to do whatever he pleases with what he learns, so it strikes me as sort of ironic that you call the idea of a lineage "egoistic''. Really? LOL. Why? Individual is not the problem, the problem is individual I don't like. And no, I am not comparing myself to anyone. So don't compare me. Don't say "it's not fair". I am taking the power back now and there is nothing fair about it. It's not a democracy over here. Now, lucky for you I want you to be powerful as a person, but that's because I want that, because I find it pretty. I don't like groups to be powerful and I especially don't like individuals to preside over groups, and especially I don't like when groups are consisting of weak people who don't chose it, but feel they HAVE to be in the group, or else they can't advance or whatever else they can't have. In other words, if someone is in the group for an ornamental reason -- fine. But if it's out of necessity, not fine. Those who join groups out of necessities are abused by the group every time. I intend to stop that pattern. This troublesome "individual", this self is the reason we're in this mess (samsara) to begin with right? Ha!! NOT AT ALL! Individual is the most perfect an beautiful thing there is. It is Buddha. The reason we are in this mess is that the individual has delegated its power and responsibility to others. Individual is not all fake. Individual has delusions about one's capacities and confused certain limited forms with one's true essence. But individual is not ALL fake. Individual is also very true. Were that not so then individuals would have no hope to gain anything from contemplation and meditation. Individual is what will become free, but individual is not what you think it is. It is what I know it is, and if you like I can introduce you. But heck if you read my post I already introduced you so many times, that if you don't get it by now, maybe you are stuck. For clarification learning things presided over by a given lineage and joining a lineage are two very different things, you do not need to necessarily join a lineage to learn some of its highest level practices. In most cases you will simply be asked to honor the request for secrecy, the reason for which already having been explained. Simply? Hahaha... Bullcrap. What has been explained? I read all kinds of explanations for secrecy and all of them without exception were utter bullcrap. I am putting an end to it right now. I will make available every teaching you can think of to such an extent that teachings will fall from the sky and only morons would pay for them (similar to those who pay for bottled water, I suppose ). It will be like selling ice to eskimos. That's what I intend to do. The Catholic comparison can hardly be abided, apples and oranges. It doesn't matter at all if it's good or bad, true or false lineage, lost lineage or non-lineage. The point is to show the principle at work and not to quibble over a detail. I might as well say this "The tummo transmission can give you ideas that are incompatible with your tendencies and eminent potentials, but those who transmit it, don't care about that. They give you something and if you were to transmit it to others (if you are even "allowed"), you have to do so in the same way you got it, whether you find that to be good or not is not regarded by the lineage as relevant information". The point is that lineage based knowledge makes what people think largely irrelevant. People's creativity is always suppressed by the lineages. You are told all the specifics on how to do this and that and you are never ENCOURAGED to imagine whatever you want. You get green Tara and red Tara and so on. What if I want to imagine Garfield? Who cares? Why Tara? Why not a maroon-purple-red polka dot Tara? Why not Taramara? Ah? See? Lineage puts you on a railroad. It does not promote experimentation and exploration. Lineage tells you, "you are a moron, so listen to me who is not a moron...it is like THIS" and you cannot deviate from it. It is demeaning and false. Bullshit quote when taken out of context. Let me add my context to declaw that quote: Then, the crown prince Manjusri said to the Licchavi Vimalakirti, "Noble sir, how does the bodhisattva follow the way to attain the qualities of the Buddha?" Vimalakirti replied, "Manjusri, when the bodhisattva follows the wrong way, he follows the way to attain the qualities of the Buddha." Manjusri continued, "How does the bodhisattva follow the wrong way?" Vimalakirti replied, "Even should he enact the five deadly sins, he feels no malice, violence, or hate. Even should he go into the hells, he remains free of all taint of passions. Even should he go into the states of the animals, he remains free of darkness and ignorance. When he goes into the states of the asuras, he remains free of pride, conceit, and arrogance. When he goes into the realm of the lord of death, he accumulates the stores of merit and wisdom. When he goes into the states of motionlessness and immateriality, he does not dissolve therein. "He may follow the ways of desire, yet he stays free of attachment to the enjoyments of desire. He may follow the ways of hatred, yet he feels no anger to any living being. He may follow the ways of folly, yet he is ever conscious with the wisdom of firm understanding. "He may follow the ways of avarice, yet he gives away all internal and external things without regard even for his own life. He may follow the ways of immorality, yet, seeing the horror of even the slightest transgressions, he lives by the ascetic practices and austerities. He may follow the ways of wickedness and anger, yet he remains utterly free of malice and lives by love. He may follow the ways of laziness, yet his efforts are uninterrupted as he strives in the cultivation of roots of virtue. He may follow the ways of sensuous distraction, yet, naturally concentrated, his contemplation is not dissipated. He may follow the ways of false wisdom, yet, having reached the transcendence of wisdom, he is expert in all mundane and transcendental sciences. "He may show the ways of sophistry and contention, yet he is always conscious of ultimate meanings and has perfected the use of liberative techniques. He may show the ways of pride, yet he serves as a bridge and a ladder for all people. He may show the ways of the passions, yet he is utterly dispassionate and naturally pure. He may follow the ways of the Maras, yet he does not really accept their authority in regard to his knowledge of the qualities of the Buddha. He may follow the ways of the disciples, yet he lets living beings hear the teaching they have not heard before. He may follow the ways of the solitary sages, yet he is inspired with great compassion in order to develop all living beings. "He may follow the ways of the poor, yet he holds in his hand a jewel of inexhaustible wealth. He may follow the ways of cripples, yet he is beautiful and well adorned with the auspicious signs and marks. He may follow the ways of those of lowly birth, yet, through his accumulation of the stores of merit and wisdom, he is born in the family of the Tathagatas. He may follow the ways of the weak, the ugly, and the wretched, yet he is beautiful to look upon, and his body is like that of Narayana. "He may manifest to living beings the ways of the sick and the unhappy, yet he has entirely conquered and transcended the fear of death. "He may follow the ways of the rich, yet he is without acquisitiveness and often reflects upon the notion of impermanence. He may show himself engaged in dancing with harem girls, yet he cleaves to solitude, having crossed the swamp of desire. "He follows the ways of the dumb and the incoherent, yet, having acquired the power of incantations, he is adorned with a varied eloquence. "He follows the ways of the heterodox without ever becoming heterodox. He follows the ways of all the world, yet he reverses all states of existence. He follows the way of liberation without ever abandoning the progress of the world. "Manjusri, thus does the bodhisattva follow the wrong ways, thereby following the way to the qualities of the Buddha." But who cares about that? I don't need to quote anything anyway. I just do it cause I enjoy the process.

Bingo. If you don't learn to take responsibility and to learn real fearlessness then nothing can save you. As you wear FU, it just validates your fears. It means the things you are afraid are real, so definitely you need more protection. Maybe next time wear armor and a helmet. Zhuangzi asked us if death was so bad? He said, how do we know death is bad? What if death is really wonderful? Would Zhuangzi recommend people to try to delay death? Further, Zhuangzi said that a baby who dies while still a baby had a long life and some immortal who lives many many years lives a short life. Has anyone considered the meaning of this? Hell, let's just throw something precious like Zhuangzi into the trash and wear the FU and a matching tinfoil hat instead.

Perhaps. To me it just makes more sense that people who have encountered cold came up with it. I was reading some original Suttas from Pali canon, and some of them talk about Buddha staying in the forest even though it was cold. So it's possible that even in India it was cold at times, at least where Buddha was. Tummo is a Tibetan word, and if this practice comes from India, why doesn't anyone ever use the Sanskrit word? I guess one can claim that all the Indian lineages died out in India. I don't know. I can't say I like this entire "closed door" culture. It's not that great for the people. There is all kinds of bullshit information floating around and people get duped all the time. It's dishonest and I don't like it. What's funny is that secrets can't stay totally secret. They are always leaking here and there in order to advertise and to attract new adherents into the fold. The truth is that I practiced tummo before I even knew the name "tummo". Anyone who has spiritual intuition will know that you can warm yourself up. It's not a woo waa woo waa big deal type of thing. It's something that anyone who is wise can deduce quite easily, and not just that, but can deduce many variations of it too. So no wonder all kinds of cultures had similar practices! It just makes sense. I read of similar practices in Daoist books too. I bet Siberian shamans had it too and probably the ancient Slavic shamans as well, as well as gypsies and all kinds of other people. It's very annoying that something that is so obvious as "tummo" is made such a big deal out of. You can also cool yourself off the same way too, why doesn't anyone mention that? It's the same thing. Also about chakras. Do you realize that those are cultural? There are no chakras in humans. Indians have different systems of chakras. Jewish Kabalists have a completely different system of energy centers where as you go up the spine there are energy centers that occur in pairs. In the nagual system there are things like assemblage point and energy compartments and no chakras. Someone who is as luck us we are, from the West, who has access to all this diversity, should be wise enough to understand a big lesson from all this. It's not THIS OR THAT. It's anything. It's whatever you believe it is. You don't need chakras and you don't need auras either as spiritual necessities. Chinese meridians and energy centers are also different from Indian ones.

Philosophical Taoism versus Religous Taoism
goldisheavy replied to ron7786's topic in General Discussion
To me there is only one Taoism, and that's what's described in Dao De Jing (Tao Te Ching), Zhuangzi (Chuang Tzu) and Liezi (Lieh Tzu). Especially Zhuangzi, because Dao De Jing is essentially a reflection of Dao, but Zhuangzi is a path to Dao, and Liezi are some inspirational and wise stories about various sages, but not exactly a path, more like a boost or a kick in the ass along the way. Fundamentally Zhuangzi rejects structured approach. Zhuangzi rejects formulaic approach. If you just read Dao De Jing you may have a nice feeling like "aahhhh" but no way to realize Dao in yourself, because it's just a "here's how Dao is" work, and not a "here's what to think about or do on your way to realizing Dao in yourself". Zhuangzi laughs at Confucious and Moists. Zhungzi makes a mockery of every established idea, of facts, of everything we take for granted, and perhaps he even laughs at himself too. Zhuangzi takes nothing seriously, but this not taking anything seriously is serious business. Now if you look at the so-called "religious" Daoism, it does everything that Zhuangzi laughs at. It's like a spit in the face of Zhuangzi. Like a giant f u to Zhuangzi. That's what "religious" Daoism is. Zhuangzi was not a religious person. He didn't go to any temples. He writes nothing about going to temples. If anything he recommends to stay away from the civilization instead of embracing it. Zhuangzi takes a very skeptical and dim view of humanity. He laughs at it and doesn't find it all that appealing. Zhuangzi teaches you how to ask questions. Zuangzi teaches you how to keep your mind open and how to never be stuck. And as he teaches you all that, he does so with humor. He laughs and makes jokes. Is there any room for jokes in religion? NEVER. Religion is always serious business. If you believe wrong, religions are the ones that will behead you, torture you, excommunicate you and so on. But to Zhuangzi there is no right or wrong belief, just unexamined and examined belief. Unexamined belief is naive and stupid. Examined belief is no longer a real belief anymore. It's no longer a serious belief. That's because if you examine a belief and look for its foundations, you can't help but laugh at it at some point. The problem comes with the word "philosophical". In the West we have lost the true Greek meaning of that word. Philosophy means "love of wisdom". It doesn't mean idle intellectualization, and it doesn't mean making a lot of conclusions and taking various opinions as your own. Pretty much all or most of the Western philosophy is garbage (save perhaps deconstructionists? and some phenomenological works? but mostly garbage -- too wordy, too jargony, and not eminently hard hitting). So this gives philosophy a bad rep. So what you call "philosophical" Daoism is the real path and it has nothing to do with making more and more opinions. It has to do with examining your beliefs in a critical fashion and resting your mind in peace as you do so or in intervals. The result of this is attainment of GREAT peace, joy, contentment and limitless powers (magic). Zhuangzi advocated meditation along with contemplation. Zhuangzi strongly advocated the reader to rely on one's own mind. There is a lot of experimentation and real tangible work, but Zhuangzi knows if you are smart enough to understand him, you will know what that work is, and since there is no need to structure that work, he didn't even bother to present it (wise man!). Religious Daoism is for someone who wants to ingratiate oneself, to accumulate merits, to seek protection, and so on. It is NOT for anyone who actually wants to reach immortality in one life. Immortality has nothing to do with making charms or divination. Zhuangzi laughs at divination. The big 3 taught fundamental principles and left it up to you to come up with the details. But religious Daoism leaves NO detail up to you, because it has prescriptions for everything, while it teaches you no principles of Dao. Basically religious Daoism is the opposite of the true spirit of Daoism, although like all things, and like ignorance, it is still a part of the Dao. -
That's possible, but I doubt it. Does any Buddhist lineage that has a tummo transmission actually admit this? Ha! Buddhists can't even share Dzogchen! Nyingmapas claim it comes from Garab Dorje, and Bonpos claim it comes from Tonpa Shenrab. Hehehe! Such is the emptiness of appearances! Nothing is true, everything is true. I think the Buddhists would roll over in their graves before admitting to getting something from Hindus or any other source except Buddha.

That's funny. So he doesn't understand that his very self is also the universal power. He still thinks of himself as a conduit of the universal power and not as an inseparable and undivided whole together with the universe, Allah, and so forth. There are two types of humbleness. One is a good one and one is bad. Putting oneself down is a bad type. It is false humbleness. Putting oneself down before others, or before Allah, all of that is false humility. Allah knows where you stand anyway, and if you make any attempt to put yourself down you look nothing but pretentious and arrogant, as if your presentation of yourself is what Allah sees and not the real you. How absurd. A good humbleness consists of making the most minimal statements that still describe the situation correctly. It has nothing to do with self-diminution or self-disempowerment, but it has to do with speaking in a manner that minimizes speculation and conjecture. So for example, if you feel pressure, it's good to say "there is a feeling of pressure". But if you say "there is one thing pressing down and another thing is pressing up" that's a conjecture. There is only one feeling of pressure and it has no up and down until you conjecture them. The reason the second type of humility is good is because if you have it, one look at the phenomenal appearances would enlighten you instantly. It's precisely the speculation and conjectures that form our baseless beliefs that hinder our realization of limitless all-potentiality. As for fingers of steel, do you know about leather workers? The people that process the leather the old fashioned way? They would take many leathers and squeeze it over and over, massaging the leathers in a solution? Those guys had steel fingers. Also if you wring out wet clothes all the time, you'll have steel fingers. People who perform massages often have steel fingers depending on their technique. And there are also people who train using the old-fashioned strongmen methods, they also have steel fingers. I'm talking about people who can tear license plates, break locked master locks with one finger and so on. My dad had steel fingers because he used to squeeze new tennis balls for fun, 100 times and so on. It's an interesting skill, no doubt, especially if you are impressed by physical strength.

This is true, but to be able to take full advantage of this truth you have to plumb the depths of your beliefs. In other words, if you believe that too much heat will turn you into ash and that you have to be in non-ash form no matter what, then some degrees of heat will be very painful even if you say a thousand times "it's all relative". It's true -- it's relative to your mindset. It's not just plain old "relative". So in order to get a degree of honesty and depth into that saying, it should be investigated and not just said lightly like it's obvious, pshaw. So the problem, sometimes, with making flippant statements is not so much that they are untrue, but that you may not realize the depth and the fullest implications of that truth. And I'm not judging you in this case, but just wanted to throw out a caution for anyone who might be tempted to think that "it's all relative" is a trivial truth that's not even worth investigating, since it's so obvious. It's neither trivial nor obvious and it is worth investigating at length.

trenna1, what a load of nonsense you fling at us. First of all, you will benefit from putting paragraph breaks into your massive post. It was damn hard to read for me because you fit everything into one huge paragraph. Obviously you didn't want yourself to be well understood, because if you had a desire to be well understood, you'd make an effort to present well. Talk about intent. Secondly, there are some huge problems with lineages. Let's discuss another problem in addition to what I already mentioned. When you get some wisdom in an open fashion, you become a true owner of that wisdom. You are free to change it, to recombine it, to play with it, to retransmit it as you see fit. You own it. That's both a great power and a great responsibility. On the other hand, if you get some teaching from a closed society, you are bound in many ways. You are NOT free to change it, certainly not! You are not free to retransmit it. You have to get permissions and authorizations for all these from the senior lineage holders, and they don't always consent. You are basically at their mercy. This is very similar to what happens when you buy a book vs. downloading some text that's licensed under a Creative Commons license. If you buy a book, you are NOT free to take piece of it and recombine it. That's plagiarism and you will be sued for it and if you are a writer, plagiarism can also be a carrier-ending move for you. On the other hand, Creative Commons license often allows creative manipulation of the text. It's a permissive license that encourages COMMUNITY ownership and creativity. So instead of one person owning it, the ownership is spread through the community in a more even fashion. With many CC licenses you can recombine the text as you see fit and retransmit it in this new, recombined form without creating any kind of offense. So you become the true inheritor of the Creative Commons licensed material, whereas if you buy a book, you are not a true inheritor of it, but rather, you receive a very specific and a very narrow permission to use it in just certain ways at certain times and in certain places and no more. Spiritual path, the kind of stuff I teach, is all about freedom. I work to maximize everyone's freedom for my own benefit. It pisses the hell out of me when other people lose confidence, because then they become subject to manipulation. Then an idiot with an army of drones comes to interfere in my life. In order to dissolve the drone armies I have to infuse the drones with the knowledge of power. Once the drones feel that they have the same power as their master, they will stop following the master. Once that happens, people won't be going around wielding other people's unconsciously delegated power and use it against others. That will be wonderful, and that's my intent. In fact, it is already so, because my intent is a complete fullness of all world events. So all the secret cabal masters can do nothing but suck their thumb now, and there isn't a thing they can do about it, especially if they want to be combative, in which case they will just exhaust themselves faster. Good riddens to those whose intent is to hoard power. Anyone who wants to restrict, to structure, to hoard power is my enemy and has to deal with me personally on every level: spiritual and physical, you name it. Now to answer some points specifically. Bullshit. When you are taught how to make a FU, there is a recipe to follow. There is SOME wiggle room within that recipe, but not much. If you deviate too much, the FU loses power by definition! That's the very premise of the power that's derived from lineage. If you are free to tinker with the symbols that means the power doesn't come from the lineage but from you. If the lineage says, "this is how you do it in our lineage", and you do it differently and it works, obviously the power is not coming from the lineage. If what you do depends on universal principles and not on some secret specifics held by a lineage, then ANYONE can find these principles because they are universal! So anyone who pays attention can find those out and use them creatively. So the only thing that can be held secret is not a universal principle, but a certain specific detail, a certain concrete element. And being constrainted by concrete elements is far more limiting than being constrained by universal principles, by definition. I've been around lineage based knowledge a lot, and I can tell with great certainty that the material that's handed down, not only is it not something you are allowed to meddle with, but it is considered precious, holy, a relic and untouchable. You can use it exactly as you got it but you have NO, ZERO, ZERO creative freedom with it. None. No freedom. You receive a transmission and if you are permitted to also give transmission you give it EXACTLY how you received it. If that wasn't the case, if you didn't give it EXACTLY how you received it, then the whole point of lineage would be moot, as then it would become an "anything-goes-age" instead of lineage. Lineage is linear. It's a line. There is NO creativity available within linear progressions, linear thinking, lines and lineages. If you could buy something you could own completely, it would be a good deal. Instead what you are often buying is a very limited use license and not true ownership. The only exception from this is when the senior lineage holder dies and passes the title onto the next ONE guy, and that ONE guy then owns the system, but there is a limit even on that one guy. If that guy meddles too much with the system people will complain that it's no longer the ancient lineage, but it's now got too much "innovation" (read: lack of authenticity) in it to be accepted as the real deal. Innovation strips the authenticity of the lineage. This is why the lineage cannot afford to sell you the complete rights, it can only sell you limited rights out of necessity for self-preservation. If you look at a lineage as a person, the lineage has a self-image and it fights for self-preservation just like the person does. In that sense lineages are very selfish and as you might say "egoistic", because they only care about their own integrity and not about your integrity as a person. For example, if you are a Catholic, you are not free to come up with your own definition of God. If the Catholic definition of God hurts your soul and is incompatible with your spiritual development, the Catholic lineage doesn't give a rat's ass about that. If the Catholic lineage allowed itself to be molded into whatever people deemed most necessary and expedient, it would cease to exist as such. That's why the lineages are like people -- they are greedy, selfish, egoistic, they fight for survival, they insult competitors, and they do everything that people do. So spending money to gain knowledge is a wise choice, but you have to be careful not to buy into a restriction. In other words, are there strings attached? What are you REALLY buying? Are you paying for limited use rights or for unlimited rights? These are important questions. I am not categorically against spending money for information, but I am against spending it mindlessly without analysis of what you are ACTUALLY buying. Duh. Isn't that what I keep saying? That's why lineages suck. They derive their power from details and not from universal principles. There is no way universal principles can disappear or lose power. It's only the details that can disappear or lose power (due to being applied in the wrong context for example).

Difference between SP or REAL DEMON POSSESION
goldisheavy replied to Mak_Tin_Si's topic in General Discussion
We should be very careful with what we choose to validate. You can be a spiritual person and yet not believe in any spirits or ghosts. In other words, belief in ghosts is not a necessity for a cultivator. It's a choice. Depending on your beliefs, the phenomena you will experience will be very different. If you believe in ghosts you will experience them a lot more often than if you do not. If you absolutely believe there are no ghosts, you will never experience a single ghost -- not even one, and you will never hear a reputable story about one. You might read about one, but it will always be from some source of ill repute. In other words, ghosts will not be real to you. But if you believe in ghosts, you will eventually find good evidence, pictures and sources of high repute corroborating your belief. So one should be very careful with one's own beliefs. This is why I always urge people to question everything they believe, because MANY beliefs we have are harmful to our own well-being. In other words, we are our own worst enemy. We often believe things like "I can never succeed" or "I will never be like Lao Tzu" or like "I am too stupid to understand Dao" or like "Ghosts are real, and I have bad luck with them" and so on, and these beliefs can bring significant suffering. This suffering has the nature of a nightmare. It's not real at the ultimate level, but while you are in the grip of the nightmare you believe it's real and it produces real suffering. If in the middle of a nightmare you KNOW you are dreaming and you KNOW it's just a visionary empty experience, it no longer has the power to cause suffering, and in fact, you can even enjoy it. That's how one time there was an entity that grabbed be in my dream and tried to choke me to death. It was strong, it was jumping up and down, and then it jumped together with my body from 2nd story window, slamming me into the ground and choking me in the most violent manner you can imagine. However yours truly knew it was a dream, and I was relaxed and happy, and I was laughing very hard as this vision was progressing. I had absolutely ZERO fear and I was actually enjoying very much being flung back and forth. It was like a carnival ride. Very fun! I woke up very happy and thoroughly well rested and had great mood for the day and a wonderful story to tell. However, if I didn't know I was dreaming, the same dream could become embedded in my mind as a fearful memory and if I dwelt on that memory one too many times, out of fear, it could even re-manifest again and again and keep tormenting me any number of times. This is why if anything attacks me in my dreams I either tear it apart, or I assist in the attack. Like if someone wants to shoot me, I stand closer to the gun and stop moving so that the other guy can get a better shot. If someone wants to cut me in half with a chainsaw, I stand there and press against its teeth. Whatever happens, I am happy and it's all a game in either case. It's important to be able to face these things without resistance. If you can, then resistance becomes a choice and not a necessity, and it becomes playful and not an act of desperation. It can really be fun for some people to believe in ghosts. So I don't want to say "you should never believe in ghosts". However, if you don't like the hassle this creates, you have an option to eliminate ghosts from your life. It's a choice that you should exercise with your eyes open and not just blindly accept it because someone said so and so. -
This is patently false. When you donate clothing, that clothing has monetary value, and it still represents sweat, time, stress, pain and all that. Clothing is not as liquid as money, to put it in financial terms, but it is totally wrong, totally wrong to say that "when you donate clothings[sic], it only means the clothings[sic]." You make similar logic errors throughout your post MTS, and I really feel sorry for you. You don't understand what you are doing. The taoist path is valuable in and of itself and it doesn't have to be sold for money to be useful. If taoist knowledge is worthless in and of itself and is simply a resale value, like art, then those people who buy it are swindled unless they also become sellers of the art. (maybe that's why so many people who pay for classes soon become teachers who also sell classes?) If I draw a painting, I cannot eat it, and I have to sell it to someone to eat. However Daoism literally allows you to eat or eliminates the need to eat at the high levels of achievement. On the other hand, no matter what level of achievement you get in painting, you can't eat the paintings. There is a story about Nagarjuna painting a cow and then milking it for real milk. However this has nothing to do with the art of painting and everything to do with wisdom, with understanding the emptiness of phenomena. Finally, if you sell Daoist "secrets", first of all, you have to keep them a secret, or else you can't sell them very well. So you keep knowledge secret for your own benefit. Secondly, if equivalent knowledge comes out and it is free, you will have to try to discredit it to maintain the value of your "secrets". When Linux came out Microsoft did everything in its power to try to discredit it. One of the Microsoft executives even went so far as to call Linux "cancer" and to associate it with communism (which is a negative/pejorative term in USA). So this makes it so that you have to live a dishonest life. Microsoft knows that Linux is a great system, but they can't admit it. So they must lie. The very exact same thing is happening in the spiritual domain. Monetized spiritual offerings are competing with some damned good, first class, top notch open, non-monetized offerings. There are people like me, who will teach amazing things for free. What I share is top notch. Many traditional masters do not even understand what the fuck I am talking about because they don't even have the same level of development and experience as I do. My approach is very general, abstract and liberated from traditions, because I understand and know the principles behind everything and so I don't need to rely on the wrappers, and further, because I know the principles, I can make new food like a master chef. And I also go around and encourage everyone to become their own master chef. If you understand the fundamentals of taste, and if you understand the various processing of food such as boiling, frying, brazing, simmering, steaming and so forth, you have everything you need to become a master chef. You don't need to get recipes! You only need a recipe if you have no idea how the cooking processes affect the food and how the tastes taste when they combine, and finally, when you don't love cooking enough to bother learning all that, so you'd rather pay someone who learned it to give you a recipe to follow. That's the lazy and ignorant approach. A person who follows a recipe does NOT EVER learn the fundamentals of cooking, because to learn the fundamentals you MUST experiment, and you MUST make mistakes, there is no way around it. So I have something that works and that WILL feed you and will raise you above the plane of suffering as sure as the stone that's falling to the ground hitting the ground. I share all that because I know that empowering people is ultimately GOOD for me. If I was just selling my knowledge, which I could easily do, I would have to be of the opinion that giving another person my knowledge does nothing for me in and of itself and so I need monetary compensation to offset the karmic balance. However I am wise enough to understand that when I empower people and to make them more independent and less sheep-like, I help to create an egalitarian society, a society where the power pyramid is flatter. And that's exactly the kind of society I enjoy living it. Finally, let's look at the art of Daoist practice. Look at science as it develops in the West. Science, for all its problems and physicalist dogmatism has some very good qualities that we should emulate. One excellent quality that science has that we should borrow without hesitation is that science is open. Scientists publish their findings. Secrets are not kept on a principle. Independent CRITICAL examination is not only NOT feared, it is WELCOMED and embraced. This is completely opposite from the tribalist and cultish mindsets of the many spiritual "masters" who can't stand their ideas to be cross examined in a dispassionate way, or worse, critically, with the intent to find holes and deficiencies in them. They fear this process. As a result, while Eastern sages had great insights, their art has stood still, no, it has DETERIORATED tremendously over time. It deteriorated because they didn't share it. Finally one more reason to share. When you encourage people to be independent, when you encourage people to think for themselves and to be creative, you create wonderful diversity. Many of these people will be fools, but many will also become truly great masters of their own who have no lineage-based prejudices and preconceptions. This will create GREAT diversity and enrich our lives. On the other hand, if we only promote the big lineages, what will happen is that everyone will just keep copying and copying and copying and creativity will be dead. Lineages never teach creativity. For example, when you learn FU from someone like MTS, you cannot creatively DEPART from what you were taught, because you are taught that only what the lineage does is valid, and your own creativity is basically invalid. So it debases your inner world and at the same time it impoverishes the outer world because everyone is running around with copies of the same system and no one is allowed to use their own creativity. Because people's creativity is actively discouraged and frowned upon by the lineages, we do not get any independent insight or any truly new discoveries except when some "asshole" is brave enough to separate from the lineage, which happens only very rarely, and even then that "asshole" often just starts his own lineage again and the cycle repeats itself.
