Dzogchen Thogal: a Buddhist creative adaptation of a Daoist technique?
ralis replied to Wells's topic in General Discussion
As I have said before on this site is the following; Any attempt to use one's own energy via cultivation is futile and anthropocentric. The ability/will to acquire the universal life force is the real work and once attuned, there needs no replenishing. Thogal when practiced correctly does just that. The thogal/longde postures with sky gazing or other means will absolutely destroy your concepts in short order.- 177 replies

Dzogchen Thogal: a Buddhist creative adaptation of a Daoist technique?
ralis replied to Wells's topic in General Discussion
When I took my first so called initiation way back in 1987, Lama Rinchen said that I was guaranteed full enlightenment in seven lifetimes. Really? It didn't take long for me to realize what a joke that was and I would be never given the internal most secret tantras in anyway whatsoever, unless I conducted a 3 year retreat. That was not going to happen. My point is that all the hype around associated practices as a way to earn one's way into thogal is bogus and delays one's realization of potential.- 177 replies

Dzogchen Thogal: a Buddhist creative adaptation of a Daoist technique?
ralis replied to Wells's topic in General Discussion
I don't agree. The vast majority of monks are not given these practices at all, let alone anyone outside the monastic system. Such persons are chained by vows and most likely only do one tantric practice for their entire life. If they are ever deemed worthy and that is a big if, they may be introduced to higher practices. It was Norbu who took the risk and introduced Dzogchen and associated practices to anyone that wants to learn and practice. The problem is one of authoritarian power over others by the so called dharma kings sitting on their golden thrones. Such positions are acquired by a reincarnated tulku who is given the same monastic position as last lifetime.- 177 replies

What he is saying is that thogal is cross cultural and no one or group owns it. That is to say there is no copyright.- 177 replies

I did some of his most extreme techniques that I learned in the workshops with him way back in 1985. Anyway, there are other ways of approaching this.

That was very good! The Snoopy beach towel is more than apropos and can soak up gallons of tears.

Compromise and more compromise is the norm in a relationship.
-
It could theoretically be used for anything, but the parameters for using are very precise. It takes monumental insight as to how to pull it off, but I keep working with it. Lets face reality! We humans are such a tiny speck as compared to the vastness of whatever this is and the arrogance that one can do anything is preposterous. BTW, the 'force' had a severe effect on my heart. I probably should not even be here now, but my will to live is very strong.
-
Perhaps, but the real power is the universal life force and there are few that understand how to manage it. One can easily be turned into a crispy mess if not careful. BTW, I will not teach this on a public forum since the risks are so great. I know the risks and after being burnt 23 years ago I still have some physical problems. Most likely Sri Aurobindo and the Mother were the real adepts at this. Or, at least that is my understanding after reading most of their writings.

You come on a public forum and expect other dudes here to be sympathetic to whatever you are going through. This is not a forum for therapy or to find a shoulder to cry on. Exactly what did you expect? Furthermore, you must like the relationship and get something out of it, so stop whining.

This was a recent study that I read in the last few weeks. Also there are other studies regarding prostrate cancer which indicated low zinc/high cadmium levels and so forth.
-
Actually it is a technique and to feel that way is perfectly normal and not some aberration. I am 65 years old and have no problem whatsoever. If you want some info/references to Reichian work, I will post it here.

The power of so called semen retention is nothing compared to the power of the universal life force. Stop wasting your time with pathetic little techniques. I studied with Mantak Chia over thirty years ago and tried all this nonsense and found it wanting and a dead end.

You should read what I wrote. I said "increase" as opposed what you thought I meant.
-
Exactly what are your goals in this technique?

History is replete with examples of sexual/emotional suppression characterized by jack booted storm troopers. That is not to say that the OP has a tendency toward this, but to understand the dangers of such activity.

Is Dzogchen about cultivation? Or should the teachings just not exist.
ralis replied to MooNiNite's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Did you write that one? Reads as if it were written in the 'dark ages'. -
Emotional suppression is the entirety of it. Recent medical research has concluded that infrequent ejaculation leads to a higher incidence of prostate cancer.
-
The myth of retention is nothing more than sexual/emotional suppression and neither makes one immortal or any of the other claims touted by gurus.

Are you aware as to what happened in Orlando last night? Why not watch this video by a religious bigot who claims a warped compassion.

The keeping secrets business is nothing new. Some think they are special and elitist.

Translator won't read it since it appears to be a xerox of sorts. Please upload again and am certain many would appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks for posting that. Can you share the video of him with the rest of us? Also I have a link to his book and audio teachings for whoever wants them. For anyone here that can translate Chinese, I have a book written by him.

Most likely Garab Dorje received the teachings from the Dakini's which are definitely alien beings dancing in the sky. It all depends on what sky one is looking at.
