  1. Apech mentioned a book in a recent post regarding the abuse of the monastics in Tibet. So far this idea that one can be in the compassionate state and still treat an entire country as the monastics have in Tibet is hypocritical.
  2. Have you taken Dzogchen teachings?
  3. In Dzogchen, 'no thought' is not a requirement whatsoever and the very act of 'no thought' requires an effort, which is an error.
  4. That is nothing more than an evasive answer and I doubt you have the facility to answer his honest query.
  5. Go ahead and prostrate to your hearts desire, but you have shown no evidence that Ngondro is necessary except that; "my guru says so".
  6. Sky gazing is in regards to the Longde series of Dzogchen. Longde gives one a direct understanding of spaciousness/space. Try it sometime when you are finished with your prostrations in a few decades.
  7. Sky gazing is just staring at the sky? From that supposition, you obviously have no experience with it. Have you?
  8. To purify and transform is not necessary in Dzogchen given that there is nothing to purify or transform.
  9. Please reread what I wrote.
  10. I haven't seen Norbu for years so give me a break.
  11. I have read many books and participated in myriad teachings.
  12. Bodhicitta was brought up and that was a relevant response. If the monastics are teaching compassion and so forth, then behave as such or else be labeled a hypocrite.
  13. I have done personal retreats in mountains and wilderness areas with no one around for 100 miles. Perhaps 1 million mantras for Vijayanagar practices and so forth. That was years ago. This winter I will be in the Mojave desert and practicing much sky gazing among other practices. The real trick is to sky gaze indoors which I am doing now.
  14. I repeated in other posts what he has stated regarding this matter.
  15. Bodhicitta is just another feel good trap in my opinion. The universe is 13.82 billion years old and is constantly evolving life ad infinitum. If one wants to take a vow to liberate all beings, that will never happen. To be quite honest, the authoritarian monasteries in Tibet didn't give a damn about poor uneducated peasants and didn't lift a finger to advance the education cure the problem of poverty for their people. That includes the lineage of Dalai Lama's.
  16. I was 1989 and a week long retreat. I remember it very well and I am telling it in my own words which is the preferred methodology on this forum.
  17. I was thinking more along the line of these tools.
  18. By frontal lobotomy?
  19. I trust Norbu in regards to the preliminaries and that is my decision and business.
  20. I don't know what I am talking about? That is your opinion which is an error in judgement. Further, I don't know Malcolm and whether he is respected or not is irrelevant. Respect is earned and not given on a random basis.
  21. Dzogchen has been transmitted from ancient shamanism in which the natural world was the teacher. Although, some claim it has been transmitted from another realm via Garab Dorje and Samantabhadra, the primordial deity.
  22. Jonesboy must have been thrown off the Dharmawheel site and can only quote Malcolmisms. They seem to land here for whatever reason.
  23. In what way is it funny?
  24. Nice cut/paste job from the Dharmawheel. A contributor who was banned last year by the name of Simple_Jack was banned for incessantly posting cut/paste quotes from Malcolm.
  25. I studied this particular text years ago and found it to be very useful. John Myrdhin Reynolds translated this particular text which is a stand alone transmission text, whereby one can read and receive the Dzogchen teachings. Reynolds at that time was a translator for Norbu. Also Norbu specifically stated that the natural state teachings are non sectarian/ecumenical and that includes the natural world being a realm where one can receive Dzogchen transmission. One other point that Norbu was always adamant about regarding the Ngondro preliminaries is that many gurus require the accomplishment of such before receiving higher teachings such as Dzogchen and so forth. If someone passes on without receiving the Dzogchen teachings what good is doing myriad prostrations and the other preliminaries? There are way too many fundamentalists that never question or apply critical analysis to these teachings. Moreover, Tibet was ruled for over 800 years by monastic, feudalistic, overlords. That is a fact! http://www.amazon.com/Self-Liberation-through-Seeing-Naked-Awareness-ebook/dp/B0062ZBHIQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1452555027&sr=1-3&keywords=john+myrdhin+reynolds
