Some of the Dzogchen teachers feel that focusing on the upper centers and in this case the third eye, may cause agitation and sleepless nights. However, it is up to the individual as how best to proceed.

That is easier said than being able to experience it directly, which is the reason these discussions are taking place. A discourse such as this is not new, but dates back time immemorial.

The Dzogchen practices do work with the third eye etc. E.g., Om-third eye center, Ah-throat center and Hum-heart center. Om Ah Hum sounds will awaken each center. I can look up more info and post later.

Not concrete as in one is not able to experience with the senses? If so, then you are denying the psychobiological component.

By what case in fact are you able to provide proof of your supposition that Shiva and Buddha are not the same? What is the problem with "one"?

DharmaWheel, pressure between the eyebrows, bad advice
ralis replied to Tibetan_Ice's topic in Buddhist Discussion
I think the difference between the two is just a semantic argument. Problems with translation. -

Do you have any of his books? I have considered purchasing one through Amazon. -
DharmaWheel, pressure between the eyebrows, bad advice

The anatomical references may not correspond exactly to the maps of the channels. I think what is happening is a bypassing of the normal survival filters built into the brain that are a function of the process of evolution. -

I was reading a little of Harish Johari's book http://www.amazon.com/Chakras-Centers-Transformation-Harish-Johari-ebook/dp/B00462RVFA/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1420224553&sr=1-1&keywords=harish+johari he indicates the 'Crystal Cave' is above the third eye and below the crown. Must be the source of the kati channel? -

The former is yes. The latter is yes. To be quite honest, the above has always been natural for me. Sustaining it is my present work. -

There are some that post here that don't agree. -
DharmaWheel, pressure between the eyebrows, bad advice
ralis replied to Tibetan_Ice's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Even if I focus behind the eyes in the 'Crystal Cave' area, the pressure still exists. Even more intensely so which spreads to my entire being. The solar plexus has a similar quality, but different than the 'Crystal Cave'. The solar plexus is a more localized feeling. This is not exclusive to one tradition, but from my studies is cross cultural. -

I was just looking at the 'Crystal Cave' text which delves into this. Does anyone else have it? -

Exactly! That area is where the central channel and two side channels conjunct, which is referred to in Yantra yoga as well as the text you just mentioned as well as many other references. -
When you state a belief as fact, as opposed to framing it as your opinion that I have trouble with. That applies to anyone posting here. I am just challenging belief systems which are only inaccurate maps.

Peer reviewed research please with links as opposed to personal opinion.

I never stated that primitive cultures were not civilized. I am defining primitive as stated here. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/primitive

That is a real put down with no basis in fact!

You never acquired parasites and therefor that is not a general problem? Broad generalization. Small pox was first seen in human populations approximately 10,000 years ago long before urbanization. Small pox is definitely a communicable disease even small in primitive populations. Your implication that I represent the ministry of truth was not well taken.

I give you a little credit for doing a few things, but to actually participate in a primitive lifestyle for decades, is vastly different than knowing that you can retreat back to your abode in civilized life. Here are a few things to consider. Hunters/gatherers are small in number; life spans are limited by lack of proper sanitation, communicable diseases, infections, parasites, fluctuating food supply and wild animals. I know several people that have lived in Africa for long periods of time, contracted malaria and parasites that no medical or herbal remedies can remove. I see nothing spiritual regarding a romance of the primitive lifestyle. Group dynamics are primary in a primitive environment as opposed to the Western rugged individualist that sees him or herself conquering the world. In certain environments, humans are not at the top of the food chain.

[Tai Chi] What is responsible for how fast a muscle tightens? Nerval memory?
ralis replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
The best way I have found to understand muscle dynamics is the practice of Feldenkrais movement. Youtube has a variety of videos that are very useful. The movements teach how to relax muscles in a non forced way. -

It is your brain that causes the tight muscles. -
