Monastic renunciation is always in the venue of bare essentials. Therefor, it is very easy for a monk to live a cloistered life. No real challenges or responsibilities from the outside world. Take those same monks and put them in a brothel full of gorgeous women or in front of porn and see how detached they remain. All these easy setups in the name of spirituality and purification are just that. Easy! This life style is more about suppression and fear than facing real life.

What are your results from the Five Tibetans?

I practiced so called Kundalini yoga here in Santa Fe for many years. Many mornings at 5:30a.m. With the right teacher, it can be grueling if not over the top! My first class, we worked on the thighs and lower abdomen. The next day, I was so sore, that it was difficult to stand up straight. I likened it to football conditioning when I was in high school. Yogi Bhajan passed on a few years ago.

He said there is no difference between the two. Also my point is do you write to spread information? Or wisdom?
-
This is about changing one's perspective and acquiring a different state of being. This is only made possible because of no separation.

Another post elevating your position on top of the Buddhist heap! After all the critiques I have made in response to your frozen narrative, I think you have never figured out what my real point is. I am not going to tell you. If you pay attention, it may become apparent. Here are a few key points to consider: 1. Everything you have written in regards to your defense of Buddhism, is only information. Why? What is missing? 2. In regards to your insistent belief that Dzogchen is somehow culturaly specific, it is not. The term is. However, Dzogchen is just another term for the primordial or natural state. 3. To prove my point, here is something Norbu said in retreat in 1989. "What is the difference between a statue of a Buddha and an ash tray"? Can you answer it? BTW, I was there, sitting in the front row and I still have the recording. 4. My point has everything to do with how one reads!

Excellent coverage of WikiLeaks by Al Jazeera. Glen Greenwald emphatically states that, there are no charges against Assange. Another example of not giving due process! http://www.youtube.com/user/AlJazeeraEnglish#p/u/1/hK3hq3aPl8k

Bon predates Buddhism in Tibet. A scholar told me that Bon is a term for any indigenous religion.
-
Also the denial of any proselytizing. Now he has framed it as sharing.

State what you mean. Use an emoticon for clarity.
-
You are taking that completely out of context! He said "perhaps". That is different than absolutely certainty.
-
Now you are my guru?
-
Your so called sharing comes across with an edge of superiority. Further, to make random judgments in regards to someone's life or even past lives, is unconscionable. Are you psychic or something? Moreover, you misunderstand Ulises's point of view. What should be so simple and clear has been mucked up ad infinitum by those that proclaim to be devotees of the Buddha.

When I get a chance, I will comment on the Hellinger Work. Religion can be an addiction!
-
Would you care to elaborate on that?

Vajraji's narrative includes inappropriate use of terms and an incessant condescending attitude to his audience, as a means to elevate his position. Last night he claimed to be pragmatic while stating Buddhism as a body of proven facts. Religions such as Buddhism are not factual and belong in the realm of philosophical and mythological discourse i.e, story telling. Pragmatic arguments deal only in the realm of factual discourse. In response to my latest critique of his arguments, he accused me of being sectarian. Again his use of sectarian is a fabrication.
-
What I have trouble with is your incorrect use of terms. Read what you wrote! Sectarian? Seriously, you should look up and attempt to understand what sectarian really means! You have some need to resort to personal attacks. Why?

Assange was just arrested. I think the charges are bogus. After he threatened the banks, then the pressure to shut him down was greatly increased. He is not being given due process and is already being treated as guilty. No bail is being granted. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/07/wikileaks-arrest-julian-assange-arrested_n_793077.html

Assange is doing what all journalists should be doing. Frankly, there are very few real journalists at this point in time. Corporate shills are the norm!

Questioning some thoughts on "God" and human progress towards enlightenment
ralis replied to tyler zambori's topic in General Discussion
Is that any different than saying the Buddha is above it all? No different! Only in your mind is it different. -
Adult Children of Alcoholics is very good for support! Further, the "Hellinger Work" is an excellent tool to begin to understand family patterns and how one identifies with other members of the family and how one relates to those identities. I had my family constellation done several years ago and it was very revealing! A lot of beliefs and illusions began to fall away after that. Especially religious beliefs! I feel much freer! What is important to realize is that anything can be an addiction. Especially what one holds the closest.
-
Actually, your views are sectarian, authoritarian and dogmatic. How can you claim to be pragmatic, when Buddhist beliefs can't be proven as fact? Pragmatic arguments are framed in terms of facts, which are not in the domain of religious dogma, innuendo and myth.

One problem is that humans think they need to travel somewhere to view at a distance. There is no separation! Humans just think there is a separate being.
