Mel, This thread is about the kundalini phenomenon. Taomeow, Shaktimama and myself made some very clear statements around these events. All psychic phenomena are kundalini related. I have included the link. ralis My link

Good point! It is prudent to remind people what they are getting into with these types of practices. There is a recent discussion on this forum around kundalini awakening. When I wrote about my experience with kundalini awakening and the negative effects I experienced, several people were terrified. Of course a few downplayed what I had experienced. Most of these practices are hyped by New Age gurus as being fun and games. ralis

Hi Mel, I don't think you should have to apologize to anyone! Obviously, you and almost everyone on this planet are searching for meaning and existential angst is part of that quest. Everyone I know, including myself, have investigated myriad belief systems in the hope of answering the questions of existence. Discussions on this forum can at times be contentious. I was banned for a week this summer for stating my opinions. I apologize to no one for what I write. Thanks for bringing up Falun Dafa. I investigated that movement when it was first revealed about the Chinese state persecuting the Falun Dafa followers. This was about 15 years ago. I ordered the tapes and books and on initial reading, the authoritarianism of Li Hongzhi did not sit well with me. You might find this free pdf useful. http://members.shaw.ca/jeanaltemeyer/drbob/TheAuthoritarians.pdf

Fox is obviously having an existential crisis and some here want to give out advice. In general, this type of help may only worsen the crisis. The advice givers imply that their own existential crisis has been solved. I rather doubt it! ralis

It is important to keep asking questions and to steer clear of authoritarian belief systems. Spend as much time in the natural world as you can. ralis

I find it intriguing that some who have posted here have called Falun Dafa a cult without defining what a cult is. Generally, it is perceived without question that the other person belongs to a cult. That judgment comes from the psychological attachment to a special belief that one's own belief system is absolutely true as opposed to the others flawed and different belief system. Further, it is perceived that the so called cult leader has co-opted certain techniques, dispensations, sacred writings and other special beliefs from more traditional belief systems that are believed to be of the utmost profound. These revelations are generally believed to be passed down through a lineage from one who has realized so called absolute truth. The point being, traditional belief systems as well as so called cults all claim special dispensation, and special revelation etc, which teachings are structured in an authoritarian and hierarchical i.e, top down thinking system. The higher cause most always leads to abuse and sacrifice of individuality. The term cult as far as I can tell is not used in any academic research and any new movements are generally classified under new religious movements. Further, the term is used in a derogatory manner. It is very important to see movements i.e, belief systems as they really are as opposed to the propaganda dispensed from authoritarian hierarchies. The continual struggle between traditional belief systems and so called cults is about the acquisition of more power and control. Power builds walls around itself and has no interest in openness, just exclusivity. Only it's own view of oneness i.e, a singular identity, a closed structure as opposed to an open space. Anomalous events i.e, outsiders are threats to the structure of closed top down thinking. The social psychology of the herd (pack) will not allow it. Some of the recent research in neuroplasticity and early childhood conditioning seem to indicate why one is attracted to authoritarian systems. More on that later. Here is a great scene from one of my favorite movies. The cult deprogrammer and a seeker. ralis

Anyone ever meet this guy? I read most of his books years ago and "Life In The Labyrinth" was very useful. However, he seems to be going off the deep end with expensive workshops and brain wave technology at a very high price. The next workshop is for 3 days at the bargain price of $2500. http://yoyodyneindustries.com/astral-projection-kit.html http://yoyodyneindustries.com/astral-projection-workshop.html ralis

I just asked a simple question and you respond with this! ralis

How does this relate to the claims made around the origin of Kunlun? ralis

Thanks What are the best Wuxing sources? Books? ralis

Thank you for expounding on this difficult subject. Please continue. ralis

Actually I asked several Tibetan teachers and they had no clue. Both these teachers are held in high regard. Norbu was not available at the time. ralis

If you read my recent posts you will see that I am not as linear in my thinking as you so imagine. Also it is unnecessary to lecture on the the intricacies of Buddhism and by extension the teachings of Norbu. Thanks anyway. ralis

I have been giving an honest account of what happened to me. Kundalini is not some new age woo woo fantasy to play with. It would be disingenuous of me to not be honest. This thread concerns kundalini and all who tread on that path must have ample warning. However, some people just want to hear what feels good! Gopi Krishna and Irina Tweedie are two people whose books give an excellent account of the process. I would be glad to entertain serious questions in regard to this process. http://www.amazon.com/Daughter-Fire-Spiritual-Training-Master/dp/0963457454/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1284434258&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=gopi+krishna&x=0&y=0 ralis

KAP was of immense help. I live in Santa Fe and one would think someone here would know something. Even the Sikh community 15 min. north of here is not as knowledgeable as one might assume. ralis

Forget the detox business. Read my most recent post on the phenomenology of kundalini. 1. My heart rate was severely arrhythmic. 2. My physical heart felt like it was on fire for a short time. 3. My entire body was hot. This continued for 2 years. I could walk naked in the snow with no problem. 4. My skin turned grey. 5. My vision began to deteriorate. 6. I had rushes of heat that started in the sacrum and went right to my heart and stuck. I tried to put that energy in the MCO and that failed. 7. My business income went to zero. 8. There are myriad other symptoms. 9. The heat was accompanied by intense bliss. 10. This force changed the structure of my upper spine. Feldenkrais and Rolfing have helped considerably. My point in my other post is that no one can control this force. I have no idea as to why it stopped. I am not certain if your question in regards to this force wrecking my life was a curiosity or a judgment.

Well said! The last statement regarding hubris is to the point! ralis
-
I agree, all the accounts I have read, always discuss the physical effects of this force. ralis
-
What all here need to realize is that messing around with these cosmic forces is no joke and is not kiddy play! No matter how much you surrender to this impersonal force, surrender means nothing. Treating it as some annoyance is completely missing the point. Kundalini hit me with no warning and in one night my life as I knew it was gone. I thought I could surrender (an attempt to appease and control) to this impersonal force that was destroying me. No way did that make a difference. I am fortunate to be alive and it has taken 17 years to rebuild my health and life. I agree, that primal forces of the mind can and will be made stronger. However, the physical problems are the most challenging aspect of this process. ralis

I won't be trapped in your twisted logic. Further, life is a paradox and your attempts at writing in paradox fail. Paradoxical and nonsensical statements are not the same. Anyone can claim anything at any time. Buddhists claim their wisdom, compassion and overarching unbounded feel good sentiment encompasses the entire cosmos. It does not matter if you believe in this sentiment or not, there is no proof any sentient being with no foreknowledge of such sentiments, has ever obtained benefit. If you want to benefit others, volunteer to help someone in need. More beneficial, implies a hierarchy and preferences for a higher state of being. Further, to fall back on the worn out empty phenomena excuse provides no answer to my argument. Moreover, when you state a uniformity of emptiness in all phenomena, what you posit is that all phenomena are equal, which is contrary to having preferences. In terms of kundalini experiences, I had a rather intense one during my retreat with Norbu in 1989. If you read the literature around phowa, the essence travels through the crown to a Buddha realm. Therefor, I would disagree that Buddhism is some lateral experience. Buddhism is very much about kundalini. ralis
