I thought this little description of religious addiction was interesting. Of course one can insert Buddha for God etc. in this description. Back to work for me. http://www.lexpages.com/SGN/paschal/religious_addiction.html ralis

I am not a Buddhist and stop mimicking me. Why are you here? ralis
  5. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

Vajraji, It is uncertain to me as to why you continue here. You have an obsession to correct everyone's point of view. In your incessant need to correct everyone ad infinitum, you never once demonstrate the real Buddhist attributes of compassion, loving kindness and generosity. Further, it matters not if you have incredible visions of 31 realms, being some Brahma or even dino the dinosaur. Moreover, if you don't see yourself as an ordinary human like the rest of us, you have gained nothing. As Norbu has often said, "compassion arises from ones own suffering" other wise it is contrived. You can believe whatever you want. However, no belief system answers completely the really tough question of existence. ralis

  7. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

  10. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

I was just going to ask the same thing. He is a master of sweeping generalizations. ralis
  11. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

In reading one of the suttas last night, I was fascinated as to how the Buddha debated. More like Aristotelian discourse. This will probably never happen here, especially from Vajraji. Here is what I am talking about. http://www.palicanon.org/index.php ralis
  12. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

Here is a small start. Heraclitus seems to be of some influence. http://ccbs.ntu.edu.tw/FULLTEXT/JR-PHIL/marlow.htm http://www.spaceandmotion.com/philosophy-metaphysics-heraclitus.htm Drew may have better sources.

  15. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

You were talking about intelligence in the general sense, not with some Buddha in the equation. ralis
  16. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

You are the master of sweeping generalizations. Please understand by doing some research and you will find there are different types of intelligence. What you are referring to is the age old mental I.Q. debate, where one was statistically classified in a hierarchy according to a test. It is well documented now that other types of intelligence: Emotional, kinesthetic, visual and auditory. Your hierarchical view is a moot point. You also imply a static intelligence (hierarchy) by your first statement. Recent research has proven the neuroplasticity of the brain. ralis

Very good point. I have never met one who is omniscient. Only read about it.

    And you are not?
  19. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

Writing well so that someone can understand, has little to do with being serious or not. If someone who claims to have a certain knowledge and writes in a crappy incoherent style, that will serve no one. Just adds to confusion. I am attempting to be an advocate here for some who may not understand English well and may not be well educated. It is arrogant to assume that everyone here is from an English speaking country nor has everyone here gone to college. ralis

I will try my best. For many years I practiced Vipassana meditation. Everything was fine for the first 2 years. At some point in time this type of practice will begin to reveal the contents of one's unconscious mind and has the potential to cause disturbances. When the fears became larger than life, I tried to control and transform them (suppress), which made it worse. It was as if my mind became like concrete. How did I solve this problem? I starting doing Vipassana with my eyes open and facing the sky. A Lama taught me to do this. Then I started to naturally relax (this happened very quickly) and the once disturbing movement in my mind, disturbed me no longer (liberated). Liberation seems to be more of a feeling and is not some cognitive construct. It needs to be pointed to rather than discussed. I hope that is clear, if not just ask. ralis

My only reason for responding to him was to somehow have him stop confusing the issue and be clear and fair to those who read him. I knew exactly what I was doing. There is a very fine line between suppressing the energy and allowing it to liberate into it's own nature. ralis
