  1. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

Please elaborate in more detail. How does one go beyond? Are you saying there is a higher teaching than Dzogchen?

Thanks. Please feel free to make suggestions. ralis

Where did I say that? Please quote. ralis
  4. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

I went to bed at 1:00a.m. MST and since you are in Fla. it was 3:00a.m. Did one of your buddies PM you so you could correct me. I said this is very difficult to convey verbally. 1. I realized Guru Yoga and the complete experience of it years ago. 2. How do you know I if I have or have not read the "Precious Vase"? Are you psychic? 3. By your continuous rant about dependent origination etc. you have conceptualized it for many who read what you post. 4. Not only have I integrated Trekchod, I practice Thogal. I received both of these transmissions in my first week long retreat with Norbu. 5. For lack of a better term, I said "phenomena" as a reference point and way to communicate. We are using language that is an approximation of reality, a map to be more precise. Pointing out. 6. As least I admitted in my post to Gold, that I was not certain if I communicated it well or not. It is not helpful to confuse anyone reading what I write. If someone is, I will make a concerted effort to clear it up. However, you are never able to accomplish that. 7. At least I am honest in stating that communicating the "natural state" is difficult and can easily be misunderstood. Obviously you can't understand that since you rant endlessly and never are honest with your audience. You are only interested in trying to dazzle your readers. If it were easy, then why have you created so much confusion and controversy? 8. Songs asked for a basic explanation and I am trying to help him out. Only because he asked. You do not own this teaching! Also there are many wonderful teachers out there besides Norbu. ralis
  5. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

Thekchod is taught as part of the transmission. Although, he does not always use that term. As far as the practices you mention, these are secondary if one has a problem and needs a certain practice. ralis
  6. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

I was not certain if my explanation was clear or not. Your explanation was well put. ralis
  7. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

I remember him specifically stating to not continue in doubt. Honestly, I had received the transmission from him almost 1 year before I met him in person. Faith had nothing to do with it. ralis
  8. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

Here is your problem with Dzogchen. You work backwards from the judgment, there is no "it". What you ask is for one to accept this on some kind of provisional faith and then somehow realize it at a later date. Norbu never taught this way. Only through realizing one's true nature would lead one to what you have stated. You are helping no one. ralis
  9. Dzogchen (and Buddhism) Summarized

Hi Songs, The Buddhists that post here have done a disservice to the understanding of Dzogchen. I was doing retreats with Namkhai Norbu in the late 80's and in the very first retreat it was all pointed out to me. Also, he is non sectarian and teaches that your real nature can be found in any practice or religion. Vajraji et al treat Norbu as if he were their father. Norbu is not interested in praise, parental adornment or any accolades from fawning idiots. This idea of preaching ad infinitum (dependent origination and emptiness) is insane! Furthermore, contemplating too tightly on concepts such as (dependent origination, emptiness etc.)as these apologists suggest can lead to much mental and physical stress. Relaxing into all phenomena is key. They have missed what real contemplation is. Contemplation is relaxing and withdrawing perceptions back from the external world and know that your experience is internal, although internal, is not a very precise location. Too much external analysis causes one much stress. The idea is to find that in between state. When one is relaxed and not too relaxed, then thoughts return to their natural state i.e, energy. There is nothing to accept or reject, just be with it. Dzogchen i.e, non dualism or no separation is about discovering ones true nature and that is found by relaxing into one's mind stream. Energy and clear light. This is not always easy and I may not have explained it well. This state is completely experiential and is very difficult to transmit verbally. I will put together some material and post tomorrow. Somehow, I feel Vajraji looking over my shoulder. ralis

  11. The cultural Revolution

The Tibetan invasion and consequent death toll is a small part of the cultural revolution under Mao. This link gives death tolls for Chinese during the revolution. Scroll down for # 7. 44.5M to 72M. http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/warstat1.htm My question is, if someone is invested in a particular religious culture, that culture becomes more important than any other. Why is that? Compare what is known about the cultural revolution in terms of Chinese deaths vs. Tibetan deaths. From the statistics, it looks like a minimum of 44.5 times more Chinese than Tibetan. In spite of this, the Tibetan supporters only seem to have compassion for Tibetans and lack of for the Chinese. There are still death camps in China where many die each year. Why not talk about that! A few more examples: Iraq war, Darfur, Afghanistan and many others. ralis

  14. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

Why not go to your local community college and study for your GED. That would be helpful in obtaining employment. There is probably gov't assistance available if you can't afford it. If you obtain your GED and take the college entrance exams, you may be able to apply for a scholarship. Also there are gov't assistance programs for college. If you truly want to improve yourself, the opportunities are there. In fact, there are almost infinite resources online if you are motivated enough to study on your own. BTW, employers will not hire you if you don't have at least a high school education. Since I am an employer, I know what I am talking about. If you would care to discuss personal traits that are necessary to improve yourself in the job market or even your own business, I would be more than happy to discuss. ralis

Just found this article on Huff Post. Gulf coast AG's are filing RICO charges against BP. These are serious criminal charges! http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x4440908 ralis
  16. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

    I agree! ralis
  17. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

What are you talking about? Attached to linearity? Therefor, you write in a non linear style? Non linear is somehow abstract in your way of thinking? ralis
  18. Shaktipat

Very interesting. Well put. Muktananda was one heavy duty dude! ralis
  19. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

I studied math 50 hrs. philosophy, physics, chemistry. So what is your point? Idiot? Hardly! Your name calling is not well taken. All I ask of him is to write in a clear objective manner. Then, I may have a real discussion with him. ralis
  20. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

Your first sentence is a very good example of what I am talking about. "As them" is completely out of place and makes no sense relative to what you wrote. I am supposed to somehow get the gist of this? ralis
  21. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

To associate my demanding attitude as stupid is not well taken! As part of Vajraji's audience, I have every right to be demanding. Why should I have to reconstruct his grammatical syntax in my mind in order to understand him. For once, I wish he would drop the pretense and think through what he writes. It is as if he is writing for himself and not his audience. I did not compare Vajraji to Kant et al! Their writings are difficult to the extreme and well written. ralis
  22. A question for Vaj the Buddhist

The problem with his use of Buddhist omniscience, is that he uses this and other terms out of context and rarely makes precise definitions of what he means. He has a patronizing attitude, continually makes sweeping generalizations, begs the question and posits many fallacious arguments. Vajraji poses as a great intellect, which he is not. His grammatical syntax is fragmented and makes for difficult reading. Honestly, Emmanuel Kant, Herbert Gunther(Buddhist scholar)and many of the great intellects are easier to read. ralis
