Advaita and Buddhism are the Same After All
ralis replied to forestofclarity's topic in General Discussion
I appreciate your well thought out post. I am rather busy today and when I have the time, I will respond. Thanks ralis -
BP doesn't have a clue as to how to stop the leak! Yesterday they tried to plug the leak with a stopper and 6" pipe. After that failed, a BP spokesman said the depth was causing problems! What incompetence! ralis

Advaita and Buddhism are the Same After All
ralis replied to forestofclarity's topic in General Discussion
Subtitled "sectarianism is stupid". I guess the thread is playing itself to that subtitle and the Buddhists are showing their true colors. All I am doing is pointing out that language is inadequate to quantify or define any belief system. If one understand the limitations of language, then one will have more autonomy (freedom). -
You approve of what Trungpa and his successor did? ralis

I suppose if one can understand the above, one will be saved? In the name of Vajraji the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha. ralis -
Advaita and Buddhism are the Same After All

Well said! I just don't know what Vajraji's agenda is. This thread is about getting rid of sectarianism and all he does is promote it. He begs his audience to somehow read between the lines to understand the meaning of his words and the intent of his writing. The problem is, he incorrectly uses words by skewing their meaning, positing untenable arguments, and proceeds from incorrect conclusions. Semantically, his arguments are vague, offer no supporting evidence and never from his own experience. Actually his past life experience as a dinosaur was irrelevant to any conversation about one's true nature. There seems to be a certain self importance to his writing. Yes, non-dualism is never transmitted semantically (impossible). ralis -
Latest BP incompetence. They place more value on saving the well than shutting it down permanently. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/15/gulf-oil-spill-bp-tries-t_n_577401.html ralis

Advaita and Buddhism are the Same After All
ralis replied to forestofclarity's topic in General Discussion
You still place Buddhism at the top of a hierarchy, with other religions being lesser than i.e, secondary, tertiary etc. Or you would say Buddhism is complete and the other belief systems are not. That is sectarianism. BTW, your calling me "dear" on another post is inappropriate. Saying I am ignorant is also inappropriate. ralis -

You are still promoting a sectarian world view i.e, Buddhism. Exactly where have I indicated any hatred? Please provide quotes. Since you don't understand sectarianism, here is a very clear definition. http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=sectarianism ralis -
BP has the best legal minds money can buy! Litigation will continue for decades! Litigation for medical payments (80M USD) from the Exxon Valdez (BP) have not been settled. BP's lawyers were able to reduce the amount of damages. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exxon_Valdez_oil_spill ralis

I believe it was the Teamsters that stopped further development of a real train system in the U.S. Again we are under the influence of massive corporate power! ralis

With the Jan. ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, which gives corporations(fictions) the same rights as people, it will be increasingly difficult to hold corrupt corporations accountable! The U.S. Senate attempted to raise the cap on damages to 10Billion USD. However, Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski (Republican) stopped the bill and cited that this cap would stop small companies from drilling in the gulf. She also stated that there are sufficient laws on the books to allow for unlimited damages through lawsuits. We all know how much time lawsuits take. I believe she has received 300K USD from BP. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/14/science/earth/14permit.html?src=mv I have seen no mention of criminal liability from Obama! Why not? Even the last 7 hrs. of data are missing from the "Deepwater Horizon" rig. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/14/last-seven-hours-of-data-_n_576096.html ralis

You are right! We are being manipulated by corporations for their own greed and power! For now we have no choice but to continue driving vehicles with internal combustion engines. I live in NM and some of my clients are 35 miles away. I can just see me riding a bike with all my power tools. ralis

According to Buddhist dogma, everyone is infected with neurotic conditioning. Therefore, since the Buddhists have created this mentally disturbed category, only the Buddhists have the prescription for immediate and long lasting relief! ralis

Trungpa was an alcoholic! He regularly had a bottle of sake that he drank from during teachings. Are you denying he had an addiction problem? However, since he was a highly realized being, you believe everything he did was for the higher cause of enlightenment? I guess the higher cause of sleeping with every female student to enlighten them was ok? Furthermore, his successor knowingly passed on AIDS to many male and female students. Do you approve of this behavior? ralis

Advaita and Buddhism are the Same After All
ralis replied to forestofclarity's topic in General Discussion
No different than Christianity, Islam etc. All religions are belief systems and different points of view. This thread is about sectarianism being a stupid ideology. What have you contributed to this thread besides preaching your own brand of sectarianism? Can you discuss out of your narrow world view? ralis -
Are you a licensed psychologist? I doubt it and you have no legal right to make a diagnosis of my mental state! Buddhists use these terms out of context to make themselves feel above it all. You claim lowly neurotic ignorant westerners need to be saved by your version of the dharma. Your incessant preaching is no different than Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and the rest of the fundamentalist ilk that infects this planet. I can be far out and fly! However, I don't need your Buddhist semantics or any other belief systems to be liberated. The Buddhist have created an infinite gap between suffering and liberation that no one can attain. Buddhists put themselves under an infinite microscope to search out infinite microscopic negativity that sucks the joy and fun out of life. I tried that methodology and created more stress than I cared to have. BTW, since you have very little understanding of power and authoritarian structures, I suggest you read this book that is freely available to all. http://members.shaw.ca/jeanaltemeyer/drbob/TheAuthoritarians.pdf http://www.whale.to/b/reich.pdf Another excellent read to help understand the dangers of power and authoritarianism. ralis

Buddhist teachers, especially Lama's love to use the term "neurotic conditioning". However, the term is loosely used and out of context. To say that all humans suffer from neurotic conditioning is bogus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurosis ralis

You assume much Vajraji! What gives you the impression that I don't meditate? Also you implied this reality is a Buddha realm. I wish you would learn how to communicate. In other words, stop making sweeping generalizations. Seems as though you are desperately trying to convince yourself that you are above it all and furthermore, that you possess some absolute fundamentalist truth. ralis -
You have no idea what objectivity means! Why not just admit it. Here is a link to a simplistic definition. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/objective ralis

How does this mythological world of yours benefit beings? I liken this to psychological experiments of rats in a maze. I suppose that inquisitions, wars and Nazi death camp experiments are all sanctioned by your realm lord. Does your realm lord derive pleasure from the suffering of us lowly beings? ralis
-
How do you know it is interesting if you don't know what it is? ralis

I agree! This is Vajraji's fundamentalist arrogance at it's finest. ralis
