Just as I predicted in my earlier post, that it would not take very long for the Buddhist apoplogists to show up! Seems as though they have a problem with attachment!! LOL!! Maybe Buddhism is just a meme! ralis

All this business around Buddhist impermanence skips the fundamental fact that energy is neither created or destroyed. Energy only changes form. A very Taoist tenent. ralis

It amazes me that for someone that never wrote anything and his sayings were written down hundreds of years later, he is taken so seriously! Yes, you are correct about the fear based aspect. I guess that what human primates respond and are conditioned to! I wonder how long it will take the Buddhist apologists to show up on this thread! LOL!! ralis
-
I wonder if any of them have much to offer! Separating any truth from cultural baggage and neurosis may be a waste of time! LOL!! ralis

Why do we need these people that claim they are the divine intercessors? Seems like a power grab! ralis
-
Why believe and burden yourself with any concept of sin or error! A real time waster! LOL!! ralis

Let's take for example the Kunlun practice. He tells in the first part of the book what kind of phenomena one will experience. That is exactly what one will experience doing Kunlun. ralis

The Bible was a creation of the early Catholic church at the "Council if Nicea". A lot of letters were put together in a political framework to give power to the church! ralis

The typical guru will vehemently deny the existence of an ego, or self. Then tell you the nonexistent self must be transcended! The finest hypocracy money can buy! The point of authoritarian abuse discussed in the book is what I attempted to convey to Bobby on the other thread. For some reason some human primates see no harm in following someone like Weor! ralis

Thanks for posting this. ralis

Exactly what are you here for? This had been debated ad infinitum and leads nowhere. Original sin, error or whatever just leads to more sorrow and anxiety. Has not the world had enough of this? ralis

Just found this and I wonder how it applies to this diverse group. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/02/100224132655.htm ralis

There must be a million other ways of cultivation. What about using the energy in creative ways, rather than using the prostate as if it were some infinite reservoir. The gland itself is only the size of a walnut. ralis

Are you having feelings feelings of guilt and remorse? Contest? How about seeing how short of a time period to not retain! This retention business is turning into fanaticism! Always a reaction to the opposite extreme! ralis
-
Did anyone attend his seminar? Supposedly he cured himself from a spinal injury that left him a paraplegic. ralis
-
Give me some evidence on that! ralis

The problem with retention is the problem it causes for the prostate. A friend of mine was told by his Uroligist, "use it or lose it"! He is 60 yrs.old. There is some evidence that less usage may lead to cancer. Are these practices based in reality? Does anyone know? Mistranslations perhaps? The original teaching lost in time? Maybe some joker just cooked this up for laughs! LOL!! Is there an element of fear, that if one does not do retention, one will not get into heaven? LOL!! ralis

The problem with Ormus is that no one knows what it really is! Results of ingesting Ormus remain anecdotal at best! Robert Cox who has written the latest book, claims how to make the fabled "Red Lion". This substance when completed, gives complete rejuvination of the physical body. Apparently, he failed in his attempt, and now is moving to India to do his final samhadi. He still claims the process works. Another problem with Ormus, is the great risk of heavy metal poisoning. Heavy metal poisoning can mimick any number of false states. Feeling of being high, ringing noises etc. ralis

New Mexico Daoist Workshops - DAOIST IMMERSION - LIVIA KOHN

I think you are overreacting to my critique. I can be overly academic myself. Yes, there is a place for that. However, most do not distinguish between academic and experiential. Consumerism in general is what creates these type of venues. Most people can't afford to shell out that much cash. Most who attend these workshops, are well off consumers! ralis -

I have not engaged in ad hominem attacks, just a critique of what the 850.00 is for. She lives in Fla. and I wonder if she has a center where she teaches on a regular basis. Taking one class is an easier way to know what someone may have to offer. Also travel costs need to be factored into the cost of this retreat. Is she a lineage holder? Who are her teachers? So far the apologists on this thread think she is wonderful, because she is wonderful? ralis -

Exactly what are the criteria for defining a Taoist landscape? ralis -

That is a lot of money these days! These teachers need to realize that respect is earned and not automatically given! Seekers too often just throw their money around, hoping to find something! Just because she has some recognition in certain circles, means very little! ralis -

Behavior in what way? Are there Taoist commandments? Thous shalt not.............! All this does is to further conditioning! Taoism should be transmitted experientialy. If one wants to read about it, fine. However, don't confuse both as the same. What does proper cooking have to do with the Taoist path? I have never seen a Taoist cookbook! Classes in Chinese cooking? Just more cultural baggage that the workshop participants will carry around! ralis -

The Tao can neither be quantified, reduced to a scripturial point of view or any view anyone can ever conceive!! Only directly experienced!! ralis
