Vajraji posits a reductionist mechanical view of the universe i.e, cause and effect. Yet, in the same argument, V maintains there is no apriori cause of all phenomena. Furthermore, Buddhists love to reduce the cause to mind i.e, observer effect. Are Buddhists after some grand view, whereby, an enlightened Buddhist can see and know all? You and Vajraji generally use terms differently. Mind could be brain, cognitive processes, collective consciousness or any number of things. In terms of wave particle duality, the debate is ongoing. To generalize and use all phenomena as an argument to prove your point makes for a disjointed argument. Massive bodies in space do not fit in the wave particle duality hypothesis because of the fact, the waves emitted are so small as to be insignificant. For small objects such as photons, the wave particle duality can be observed and quantified (probability equations) under the appropriate conditions. I refer to the de Broglie hypothesis (1929 Nobel Prize). Also the double slit experiment and the photoelectric effect. de Broglie's work extended Einstein's work on the photoelectric effect. To argue this point you are going to have to use probability equations. ralis

The problem I have with your reductionistic reasoning is the use of a hierarchical structure that classifies from superior to inferior perception. Your use of we is in reference to? You have no right to judge what my capacity is or is not! You frame your projections towards me from a hierarchical authoritarian structure. I have always felt that Buddhism is not proactive enough in the world. Deference to the dharma kings (Lama's) is expected. Deference is in the form of money offerings and prostrations to the Lama teaching from his throne. Exactly how does that benefit humanity? We are told that is good karma and one will obtain great merit and a better karmic rebirth. Isn't this just more blind faith? How many have actually benefited from this system in the last 2500 yrs? Seems to me this is just a different version of the divine right of kings in feudal Europe. I just don't see how preaching karmic dogma helps anyone. What about the 60 million people that were slaughtered in WW2, were they thinking in a most subtle way that they wanted to die horrible deaths?
