Vajraji, You have repeatedly engaged in ad hominem attacks on this forum. I read the post where Tao99 quoted one of your attacks. If you wish to engage in rational discourse, all that is required of you, is to debate in a reasonable manner. If not, then you are no different than any religious fanatic. ralis

I was in the military during Nam and was able to see many live concerts. Saw Seatrain in Dover Delaware and everything else in Philly. ralis

I saw Seatrain in concert in 1972. Great show!! ralis

Karma as it is used today sounds like the New Age ism of "you create your own reality" ralis

Would you post the hypnosis study? Thanks ralis

You said you are going to college. Well, if you can't take criticism for your writing style then you are in for a rough time. Many times your writing makes no sense (incoherent) and why do you defend that? You did say you were not fond of English. In terms of Einstein's work, the general theory is about gravitation. Also it deals with the expansion of space time and the effects on massive bodies in space. It also deals with warped space and how that effects light. ralis

When did I say your writing was retarded? I believe I said when you called me a moron and moron is defined as slightly retarded. Show me the quote. I have stated that you can't use Einstein's work or physics to prove you are right. It is obvious you don't understand science very well and if that is an insult, that is your problem. I an extensive background in math and science. If you make faulty arguments, then expect me to ask questions. Did the Buddha contemplate the explosion of the singularity (big bang)? Did he expound on it? I have also demonstrated time and again that your responses are extremely reactionary and are projected from an authoritarian mindset. ralis
-
V, I have only questioned your belief system and that is fair in a debate. Then when you can't handle the questions, you respond with insults. Exactly what terrible things have I said? Remember, you called me a moron a few days ago. ralis

This book is well worth reading and Reich clearly states how fanatical beliefs lead to fascism. The emotional roots of fascism are discussed in great detail. The suppression of core feelings which includes sexuality are the reasons that authoritarian systems exist. The higher cause of religion being the most virulent. If one observes the religious right in the U.S. it is obvious that emotional suppression is key. The my religion is more subtle, profound and better than yours is an authoritarian fascist ideology. ralis http://www.amazon.com/Mass-Psychology-Fasc...4896&sr=8-1

Protandim is an MLM and is probably 2x the price of what it should be. ralis

Hitler was very religious. To paraphrase, "it is our duty as Christians to exterminate the Jews". The 3rd Reich was steeped in religion (Catholicism) and mythology. Germany was and still is a predominately Catholic country. Remember, George Bush who claimed to be "saved" is responsible for at least 1 million deaths of Iraqi women and children. This was with the support of the religious right wing. How many million deaths is the Catholic church responsible for, during the inquisitions and crusades? ralis

Karma seems to be grounded in a cause and effect Newtonian universe. Therefor according to your theory, whatever actions I perform can have unintended consequences for eons. Why do you deny these reactions are not punishments? Don't you ever question this? Seems like original sin to me! ralis

In what way am I being violent? I was making a statement about human behavior which is factually based. Furthermore, I was not specifically referring to you. However, you do show reactionary behavior in defending your point of view, which stems from someone who passed on 2500 yrs. ago. If you reread my post, I said, argue, fight and destroy, which are 3 separate activities and arguing does not necessarily lead to violence. How is my interpretation of the Dzogchen view lacking? Do you agree, humans resort to violence around belief systems, especially religious ones to impose authoritarian views? Do you understand the human primate history around holy wars, inquisitions and crusades? Are you knowledgeable as to the origins of what I just stated? Has Buddhism or any other belief system actually solved this human dilemma? If not, why? What about disease, poverty and sanitation? Why are some belief systems not used proactively to meet real human needs? What are the psychological constructs that causes humans to behave in a reactionary, irrational way when their precious belief systems are questioned? BTW, I do question my own BS everyday!! ralis
-
As I have stated before, human primates are fascinated with authoritarian systems and will argue, fight and destroy one another, just to prove a point. History proves this. Open mindedness and the willingness to question ancient tenets are generally not attributes of the ones debating here. Is it not reasonable to question the validity of ancient teachings and the translations passed down through several millennium? Has Buddhism or any other ism actually improved the quality of life or created peace? If not, then why not? Belief systems are very powerful and can influence how one views and experiences reality. ralis

Just sent a PM to Norm and asked him if he would post here and we can ask questions. ralis

In what way is the book awesome? Will you provide a synopsis? ralis

Is there anything new in this book? Cultivation practice? ralis

Just feel for it and don't worry about channels. Keep it simple. ralis

I have his words on tape that the primary awareness is in the heart center, which is different than the heart chakra. Yes, Guru Yoga is very important. The awareness of the heart center goes beyond any mental construct of a certain view. ralis
-
Serene, The heart center is simply being aware just above the bottom of the sternum and below the physical heart. Around 2" above the bottom of the zyphoid process. Then just feel deep within toward the spine. Relax the body into that spot. Dzogchen is about relaxing and letting the mind naturally rest. If you like, we could have a conversation via Skype or email chat and I could give more detail. ralis
-
All this discourse entirely misses the point. Vajraji can argue the fine points of dependent origination ad infinitum and no one will ever obtain knowledge in regards to one's true condition. Awareness in the heart center is the only way one can understand the true nature of the universe. By living from the heart center, all the human primate fascination with isms and my religion is better than your religion falls away. So far all this discussion around Buddhism being somehow superior, is moot. There are several traditions that teach the heart centered awareness. I would be happy to answer any questions. Norbu always taught this as the primary practice. ralis

In a recent post you stated that some practitioners use Dzogchen as an excuse to behave in whatever way they want. Now you state that the so called neg. behaviors are just karmic causes and are not really neg. I guess Ursel Tendzin who spread AIDS to unknowing victims, were just burning off karma and the victims were jumping for joy at having burnt off a chunk of karma! To say that so called enlightened beings just reflect back karma is preposterous and even to say that people are karmic packages is just a way to depersonalize people. Therefor, any negative behavior that arises is just fine? Maybe the negatives are not really negatives and are just one's illusory view? You are denying the dark side of Tibetan Buddhist cult behavior! Karma is not an excuse for victimizing others!! ralis
-
Excellent point! I might add that the Tibetans exhibit cult behavior, which is the dark side that devotees don't want to see. The mystique is kept intact by the exotic accoutrements, required prostrations, offerings and secret teachings. The secrets are kept intact with vows and the fear of breaking said vows. The punishments are hell realms and the accumulation of bad karma. Furthermore, the implied behavior of the Lama's is one of purity that is supposedly beyond reproach. Of course, this is the public image and how dare anyone question the integrity of the Tibetan system. The best example is Trungpa, and his successor. Trungpa abused his students sexually, emotionally and died an alcoholic. His successor spread AIDS to both men and women in the Boulder community. He knew he had AIDS and believed he was more powerful than the virus. It took his life. The dark side of spiritually is always framed in the so called higher cause. Human primates are fascinated with the higher cause and in this case, exotic teachings with the offer of power, which is never given. The promise is made and the power is never shared. Once again I suppose Vajraji will attack me for saying "the emperor wears no clothes". ralis

You make the incorrect assumption that I have no rigpa experience. Moron is defined as slightly retarded and that was a punch below the belt!! ralis
