  1. No more right-wing bullshit.

Did you read either one of the Trump threads? That should be a wake up call as to what was written.
  2. It was Jonah Goldberg that started this revisionist right wing drivel in which naive persons who don’t bother to read or question buy into propaganda.
  3. Climate Change

PragerU is not a university nor is it an accredited institution. Epstein has a BA in philosophy from Duke and is in no way a climate scientist or holds any degree in science. You expect several of us here that actually hold degrees in a scientific field to believe this nonsense? Stop wasting your time!
  4. You summed up how the "big lie" is constructed. A small kernel of truth with mountains of deception built on top and given the size and scope, it must be absolutely irrefutable. Millions died in the last century by following the words of demagogues.
  5. I agree that AGW is threatening life in this biosphere and it may be too late to stop it. The 6th mass extinction is happening as we speak. There is a Climate Change thread here which was blown up by several deniers. Voidisyinyang superbly documented unimpeachable sources for anyone to read and understand. Old Student is a mathematician who gave much input to the thread and his analysis of complex systems i.e, initial conditions, is worth reading.
  6. I have thought along the same lines for years. Obviously there is a vast difference between realizing how the cosmos works and just talking about it. The latter in general leads one to form an anthropocentric point of view which can and will have dangerous consequences.
  7. I grew up in the 60's with an imminent threat called "The Red Scare" which is a crowd control technique. Living in that kind of fear of imminent nuclear attack, commies are living next door, socialism will reduce everyone to poverty with a dictatorship. That same fear is still an undercurrent here in the U.S. If it weren't for socialist movements here in the U.S., Civil Rights, Voting Rights, social safety net programs would not exist were it not for progressive left movements.
  8. Excellent point! Since the Russian Revolution circa 1917 there has been much propaganda here in the U.S. that equates socialism with communism. The argument is a false comparison.
  9. Please explain the context?
  10. The topic at hand is "are there any other leftists here." Please stay on topic!
  11. To further my points, I posted many arguments on this forum regarding the rise of fascism here in the U.S. I posted extensive historical accounts from the 20th Century both from Nazi Germany and Italy. Compared and contrasted the similarities between the current rise of authoritarianism which ties into Hannah Arendt’s β€œbanality of evil” in which the right normalizes evil.
  12. I have been listening to Pink Floyd forever. Their music has always been against the radical right. Dogs (Waters, Gilmour) 17:06 You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need. You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed. And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking. And after a while, you can work on points for style.Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,A certain look in the eye and an easy smile. You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,So that when they turn their backs on you,You'll get the chance to put the knife in.You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder. You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as youget older. And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,Hide your head in the sand,Just another sad old man,All alone and dying of cancer. And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown. And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone. And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around. So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,Dragged down by the stone.I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise. If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of thismaze?Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretendingThat everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend. And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winnerAnd everything's done under the sun,And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.Who was born in a house full of pain.Who was trained not to spit in the fan.Who was told what to do by the man.Who was broken by trained personnel.Who was fitted with collar and chain.Who was given a pat on the back.Who was breaking away from the pack.Who was only a stranger at home.Who was ground down in the end.Who was found dead on the phone.Who was dragged down by the stone.
  13. There has been much disagreement as to how social programs are paid for. The right wing mantra is β€œit costs too much”, but the hypocrisy lies in that wars and tax cuts have no limit in spending. Health care, education, well paying jobs benefit our society as opposed to the fear that money is limited any money spent on people is a waste.
  14. The OP is very specific and Stosh is attempting to derail the thread. This always happens here! I will discuss this no more. Back to the topic at hand.
  15. If you want to participate in the topic of this thread that is fine. Do you have anything to add?
  16. Thanks for reiterating the point of this thread. To express leftist ideals without being bullied and attacked is refreshing!
  17. TDB is not loading well. Neither on my phone, iPad or desktop.
  18. β€˜Perhaps you read my earlier post regarding Reagan and neoliberals? The largest transfer of wealth from the middle to the 1% upwards of 7 trillion. It wasn’t an overnight transfer, but in small increments over time. The latest transfer in the name of tax cuts is around 1 trillion plus. The cuts to the 1% are permanent whereas the few dollars the middle received are temporary.
  19. Actually there is plenty of proof regarding racist remarks on this site. One member used the β€œn” word within the last week and was allowed to revise without any mod reprimand after his post.
  20. I don’t know where you found that quote, but it isn’t mine.
  21. In case you are not aware, racism in all forms, anti-Semitism, misogyny are all based on hate. This forum is not a platform for such vitriolic expression. There has been enough of such talk here!
  22. Well stated! Since Reagan and the neoliberal crowd took over, upwards of 7 trillion dollars has been taken from the middle class and redistributed to the upper 1%. And, yet if anyone states that taxes should be raised on the 1%, then the reactionary right-wing shouts a deafening cry that redistribution of wealth is a communist plot. What the hell happened to critical thinking?
  23. Yesterday I described my political views as being one of progressive/left which hardly defines my point of view. My understanding of altruistic biology (E.O. Wilson) has informed my view as to how species evolve and survive in a cooperative manner. Wilson's research findings are contrary to the "survival of the fittest" belief system which was a popular pseudo scientific which was popularized by Herbert Spencer and fell out of favor in the mid 20th Century , a belief which Charles Darwin never postulated. Wilson has pointed out that all species evolve as a group in which it is imperative that our species set aside pettiness and cooperate not only among ourselves, but with all species. After all, cooperation is built into our genetic structure as a result of evolutionary social group interaction. Current research has left no doubt in my mind that the planetary biosphere is in the early phase of the 6th mass extinction, and is aptly termed the Anthropocene epoch. Human caused environmental destruction! http://www.anthropocene.info
  24. I was referring to the laborers not white collar office personnel. Should have been more precise. The working conditions are well documented.
  25. Concentration camp by definition is to crowd a large number of persons in a small space as seen in the videos of immigrants seeking asylum that were literally stuffed behind a chain link fence with no elbow room. Further, some confuse concentration camps with death camps in which there is a vast difference. The former is what is happening on the border. Amazon pays low wages with harsh working conditions which are basically sweat shops. Unreasonable quotas and barely if at all bathroom breaks.
