  1. What Do Monks Eat Everyday?

I know. Noticed it from other threads. Not surprised either.
  2. new Forum (split...) suggestion?

There are enough TCM, Ayurveda etc. forums already :-)
  3. What are you listening to?

NOW: DJ Melo - Vocal Deluxe Edition 15 http://itranceyou.net/2009/02/dj-melo-voca...uxe-edition-15/
  4. feelings and emotions

I noticed that too! Amazing! Our words and thoughts create an energy field that mixes with the rest of the Universe...And keep on having a life ot heir own... Loved it when Osho was saying the Thoughts of Buddha, Lao Tzu, Jesus - they are still flying around. You just have to be sensitive enough to pick them.. Can delete it from your post, but it already touched it! I love climbing too and loved what you said! So nice Tabula Rasa saved it fo me! Thank you both! I believe Everything is about Emotions and Feelings! There are more subtle and true form of our beings.
  5. Check the links in post 22 above
  6. feelings and emotions

Zen Shiatsu actually is based on the fact that our emotions affect our body and health. One has to be in the state Tabula Rasa describes. That's why we are interested in the Tao and work on ourselves. On emotions, feelings, thoughts: "The wild geese do not intend to cast their reflection, and the water has no mind to retain their image."
  7. I was wondering after seeing yesterday the National Geographic documentary on Wu Tang Monks, is it possible, that the recent discussions here about Wang Li Ping roles in making Taoism government controlled attraction etc., was about the guy from the film, not the one from the book? Obviously 2 different people.
  8. Is this THE Wang Li Ping?

I found the documentary way too "commercial". I expected more from National Geographic, but I guess it depends what audience they targeted. Seems to be trend with the way the Chinese government renews the interest in martial arts and religion in the country. Like making the Chen village the official place of Tai Chi. Good for tourism, schools etc. Not good for Tai Chi. I didn't find the movie that fascinating either. The focus was on martial arts, much less on the Spiritual path. And a monk who dreams that people worship him....! Yes, yes - I realize I haven't achieved probably 1/1,000,000 of what he had, yet I doubt looking for fame is the goal of the Taoist immortality. Loved the story of the Lotus Dragon. Very touching. Warned my daughter, that Wu Tang is much cheaper than her public school here... :-)
  9. Is there a Taoist version of Dream Yoga?

In fact similar for the Buddha, who used to "sleep" in the way we see him depicted in the big statues we have around today. I believe he said, that since he is Awaken he is always in this state hence does not dream. So not sure what the developers of the religion Buddhism came up with later :-)
  10. feelings and emotions

There were few recent threads which explored concepts which can not be described, but only experienced. Hence no reason to talk and argue about them. If your favorite color is Blue and mine is Orange none of us can prove to the other that our choice is the right one. Same way, one can not explain what Love is (or why one is in Love). Or what Consciousness or Feeling is. As noted there - there are thousands of teas, drunk by million of people, bringing millions of experiences. Can't be compared, can't be judged. Can only be enjoyed. And more importantly - they all come from One - the Tea plant :-) Getting a small teapot of Keemun tea ready, e.
  11. Well, in my lab we had a vegan Indian postdoc who had to enter a mental institution... But he was eating nothing else but rice with some carrots and peas. And milk. Not exactly balanced diet - not only on Vitamin B12 but many other essential nutrients - other vitamins, minerals, protein etc. Tai Chi is about "not too much, not to little" Which is another common thing with the Middle Way which Buddha recommended.
  12. Also, a good start good be the methods, in which the energy of the other person is manipulated without any energy flow from the giver at all. That would be things like acupuncture and acupressure (e.g. Shiatsu, Atma, Atmena, Jin Shin Do, Su Jok, Tuina etc.) I know you don't have these in mind, but they are a good way to learn to interact with the energy of others as well as teach you more about your own before you jump into using it.
  13. Mokona, I've had several interesting events to share. My daughter was developing asthma symptoms coughing in the night etc. (as the TCM suggests - often after 2 AM). In few occasions while doing my Tai Chi (Qigong) practice and being well connected, my body was moved to my daughter's room, next to her bed and body and my hands did certain things over it. Which I basically just observed. Discussing with my Tai Chi teacher and my TCM teacher, they suggested I've been helping her without me actually being involved - the appropriate arms were used for removal of blockages, stagnated energy and for addition of new one. My understanding is, that this should be the state in which one works with others. Similar to what the Reiki people claim (yet I can't start liking it as a method - from the way it was "created" to the way it sells). We have a friend healer, who heals us all the way from Germany - does reading on us, emits energy and gives advice on needed changes in the lifestyle and diet. In her own words, in order to do this, she meditates many hours a day, keeps a really strict diet and purifies her Energy. Also in her case - very strong Christian belief. So energy healing is around. In my school we believe that all you need is to be really pure, practice lots of Chi gathering and purification, work on Jing movement and projection. Healing is just the side effect of being one with Tao. The lowest level of which is the martial art application. Then followed by healing. Then insights in time. And finally dissolving as a rain drop in the Ocean. So just become a real man of Tao - the rest will follow! As it is just the natural state of Being. Hopefully this does NOT help and you either find a good teacher (and more importantly - good reason) to think and work on this. Or just forget it.
  14. Tao de Lurker

Better yet - time in reading and posting nothing :-)?
  15. If I need only one book - "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" OK, ok...It's not one, as it's trilogy. Of 5 books :-) MUST HAVE!
  16. Just a reminder: One can do energy healing using his Chi or channeling it from Around/Above/Tao etc. The first can be pretty damaging and the reason why many healers die young. Otherwise, if I can use the famous saying here, where the Nature of Energy Healing would replace Truth: "Ekam Sat, Vipraha bahuda vadanti" Rigveda (Truth is one, the wise call it by different names)
  17. Hot in Hangzhou

Dear JessinChina, I feel like most of us should ask You, not the other way around :-) I've been just wondering where to go in the World for the 2 weeks the weak US economy gave me as furlough. Might cross roads somewhere. Till then - my cup of Keemun is virtually next to yours! Will wait for your reports...
  18. The trick of accepting what IS... I fight witht he same all the time - no worries. You are fine. Or at least not alone. In my case - I spent the whole day at work browsing and doing nothing. And that makes me more unhappy than when I've been working in contrusction or in a farm. I hope it's a stage. And new things will come. Meanwhile - enjoy the fact I can read you while at work :-) It's funny you counted up to 6 - that was the Excellent (i.e. maximum) grade in my country in the schools. So you going from Poor to Excellent and back. That's Life :-) or :-( - not sure...
  19. The Secret, is it BS? (Law Of Attraction)

To clarify some of the posts: I believe the question was about "The Secret" - the book/movie/merchandise... It is BS. The concept they tried to explain - different question!
  20. What Do Monks Eat Everyday?

Don't take any, my friend. All natural :-) Sure. I am also sure the Catholic priests benefit their flocks better when sexually satisfied with some kids... Nothing against Dalai Lama - love the guy. Just trying to bring a point to you.
  21. Tao de Lurker

    :-)
  22. Servant King

His name was actually Issa. Jesus is the english version of it (through Isus in Greek). Doesn't mean what you claimed. He brought his teaching from India. Nice guy. Read http://www.tombofjesus.com/2007/home.html and all the documents there. If you want to contribute on this Tao forum, check http://www.universal-tao.com/article/parallel.html The good news for you is, that Mantak Chia claims to be Christian which is my biggest problem with his system :-)
  23. How do you see chi and biology?

I am a scientist so had a similar question, especially since I started learning Zen Shiatsu and TCM. Lots of research in recent years on the "pathways" for Chi. I don't believe Chi itself will be easy to capture in scientifi terms. http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=chi+me...amp;oi=scholart
