The real meaning of "all is within" is purely contextual?
exorcist_1699 replied to Non's topic in General Discussion
"Nourish a Buddha Heart by paying attention to nowhere" (from "The Diamond Sutra"). Similar Taoist saying: " Using an empty mind to nourish something out of the void" ( "以虛練虛" ) . Both talk about the same thing. You can find thousands records of such similar sayings in Taoist classics/ Buddhist Sutra. So, it is something serious. People , more precisely some Westerners, think that I am making fun of them , which is definitely not. It is their ignorance of such a legacy , a way and those related writings, not my talking about something big but void of meanings. Nor am I making some kind of philosophical gossips as some broad-minded people look at me with their sympathetic eyes. No, I am , in reality, talking about a concrete way of entering another dimension of our existence( not using the term "Spirit/Mind" is because such a dimension also generates big physical changes in us ). -
Others are not hell, others are our remedy ; How can so narrow a temperament that most of us get accommodate so magnificent and powerful a stuff like qi if we haven't gone through and survived humiliation and torment among the mass?

The real meaning of "all is within" is purely contextual?
exorcist_1699 replied to Non's topic in General Discussion
Not all ways ask you to " look within", only some/most ways do. " Look within " is a mediocre method, in fact, it is problematic because it leads you to some kind of attachment. Maybe you should adopt a " look nowhere" method,it is more interesting , more challenging ... -
Relationships and Children will only curb your spiritual cultivation
exorcist_1699 replied to bodyoflight's topic in General Discussion
Only after having all our jing changed into qi, does it not come up frequently to affect our cultivation. Jing's appearance are complicated , you think we are a reasonable person, and reason is in charge of everything ? Absolutely not ; even if we take charge in daytime, it appear always in our sleeping to undermine our enterprise .many different forms it appears...even our mind is always used as a means to achieve its goal ... It is not strange when we consider jing/sex is the root of our existence, so it will find various ways to let its job done by making use of as much pretense as it can Only high level of Shen can tame it.. -
Does Spiritual Enlightenment mean Psychological Maturity?
exorcist_1699 replied to ShaktiMama's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, I only get half of what you mean ( to some people , my English appears okay, but it is really not ); anyway, I try to explain: Enlightenment can't merely rely on our own strength to accomplish ,even if we view our spiritual force as something biological. In fact, what we always talk about, things such qi and jing , in Taoist context, are not things biological . In Western terms,we can say Enlightenment is some kind of ontological breakthrough or change in our existence ( in this sense , existentialist typed of psychology seems a little more close to Buddhist /Taoist approach ) despite the fact that , in this heritage, nothing is provided to make such a breakthrough. There is always some kind of vacuum underlies our life , it is a crisis , also an opportunity ,to enable to make us to make a qualitative jump .. what we should do is not just to purify our mind, but more precisely , to hollow it... -
Does Spiritual Enlightenment mean Psychological Maturity?
exorcist_1699 replied to ShaktiMama's topic in General Discussion
Some points: 1) "Enlightenment means psychological maturity ?" Definitely not . On the contrary , it is a reverse process of making your heart childlike, ten times more childlike than kids are ;but.. is it a process of purifying our heart as most people think , or as some Buddhist school( mainly Hinayana) advocates ? No, such kind of hair-splitting way of purifying our mind hardly makes us accomplish Enlightenment. In fact, we attain it " at a stroke", in an abrupt way so that our mind getting no chance of thinking of any pure or impure , good or evil, black or white..things 2) "Enlightenment is a biological process..." Bullshit! People say that are still outside the door, not yet crossing the threshold . 3)Why " there are a lot of gurus who get caught up in scandals and sexual misconduct .." These "guru" are still at the stage of " jing changing into qi" or don't know how to sublimate their evil "jing " into qi or shen , so they succumb to it. Of course, calling them " guru " is a joke -
In Hong Kong, even the female flight attendants know Wing Chun.. Bigger and more photos, see links as follows: My link

Thanks. I think why Wing Chun is chosen for flight attendants to practice is its being an art suitable for short-range fighting in a relatively narrow space.

100% percentage sure you can reverse the process of aging by just praticing Taoist qigong /alchemy and limiting the times of your sex life. And ,the effectiveness of it is easy to prove, especially for those who are over 35 : See how much white hair you can get rid of or how many wrinkles you can smoothen . Or, by seeing how easy now you can climb up hundreds of steps ... Taoist qigong can only cheat you for a time of 3~4 weeks if it is not something effective although most other religions can trap you for a whole of your life..Why link them together? People may argue . But Taoism does. Physical thing and spiritual thing are just two faces of the same coin of Tao, they are interdependent , interactive and counteractive ; such standpoint , of course , is clearly different from the Buddhist ; It is an idea very important , nearly the most important idea in Taoist Alchemy, and we call it : Spiritual Nature- cum- Life dual cultivation (性命雙修). Expecting come under the fire from some Buddhist followers , I would like to add: "Please don't attach to what you will have accomplished physically " for some sweeter thing is waiting for you afterward , and it is likely be something more spiritual ..

The main weakness in the western tradition is its incapability of discovering qi and those steps that lead to a high spiritual level, shen . In that case , the build-up of a reliable , practical spiritual system in the West is nearly impossible. What ,therefore leaves, is the reliance on the ways of visualization or witch spelling , which conversely lead them astray from entering the state of mindlessness, a pre-condition for initializing much high-quality type of qi. Praying in the Christian hertitage seldom lead people to a state of mindlessness, even if sometime it does, its significance is totally ignored by them .The Westerners are just weak in manipulating emptiness or mindlessness .Yet " a state devoid of any minds is equal to emptiness exist everywhere" (from Mahāyāna- śraddhotpāda-śāstra 大乘起信論; ) The Chinese or Indians can handle emptiness, even endless layers of it, and their complicate relations with minds, no-minds, no no-minds without any difficulties. A Wisdom popped up from mindlessness is something unthinkable for the Westerners.. However, it is only in the Greek-Western heritatge that electron, atom, particles , and their related characteristics ,are discovered, making it the only physical science that human beings have .

the highest masters are not in asia
exorcist_1699 replied to bodyoflight's topic in General Discussion
Although people can call Hinayana Buddhism the Theravada Buddhism , maybe due to the reasons of politeness or some kind of " politics" in Buddhist circle, which, I am not sure , the big difference between the two Buddhist ways cannot be covered by just some people's changing the name of it . My support of Mahayana Buddhism is due to its simple straight style, its manignificence that hardly other ways can match. Of course, Taoism's spiritual cousin , the Zen Buddhism ,belongs to the Mahayana is another reason ,which, also strengthen my " hardline-ness" . The Chinese knew and translated the Hinayana Sutra long time ago and can't be said to be unknown of it. Yet with another great system ,Taoism, existing locally ,many hundreds before its entering China , the Hinayana system is doomed to fail in taking root..People who have taken a serious reading of the Chinese Buddhist history and related documents , can see clearly that it is only the Mahayana system that is capable of conquering the Chinese heart, which to some extent, is dependent on how high a mountain people are situated, how splendid a river people live on... -
the highest masters are not in asia
exorcist_1699 replied to bodyoflight's topic in General Discussion
Although Sri Lanka claims to hold a Buddhist history of over 1,000 years,it unfortunately belongs to the gradual ,trivial style of Buddhist legacy : the Hinayana , which to my bias , to my always stubborn support of Mahayana Buddhist way , is a style unlikely to nourish any great master. I do read original Japanese, even classical Japanese Sutra, so I think I know how high they have achieved . For a marginal cultural system exists on the edge of the Asian continent, the Japanese does quite well , but not good enough to give rise to great masters... Besides, the Japanese were too eager and too rush to strip off their Asian spiritual clothing during the Meiji Reform period, which I think they overdid it... -
the highest masters are not in asia
exorcist_1699 replied to bodyoflight's topic in General Discussion
I am not sure whether the highest master is in Asia or not, what I want to talk about here are the conditions that , I think, make a group /generation of Taoist /Buddhist masters arise : 1) The existence of a heritage of masters or many generations of masters . In China, despite severe long history of political upheavals, you can trace a school, or a Taoist/Buddhist master's sifu's sifu's sifu's.... a legacy back to a thousand year before. The advantage of it is clear: huge amount of experience are accumulated and passing to the latecomers; high-level practitioners can learn from each other..etc , making an emergence of of a /several masters more likely. 2) The existence of works or written records, ie, a literal legacy. As not all our understanding of Tao/Buddha Heart come from personal teachings from our sifu, rather in many cases, we get them by repeated readings of great works left behind by precedent masters. In China or Tibet ,you do get the conditions of reading Taoist ,Buddhist, Tibetan ,Confucian ..original or translated writings ,which of course , are very helpful. 3) High mountain and big mass of land. At certain stage of our cultivation, it is really needed. So, judging from the above-mentioned 3 conditions,we can study some examples below to see where, on this globe, great masters will unlikely/likely arise: a) Sri Lanka or New Zealand seems unlikely. (small island,no Taoist/Buddhist heritage..) b)Japan ( Unlikely because of no big piece land, weak cultural heritage; weak of abstract and creative reasoning ability ); c) Taiwan ( no big piece of land , no real great master.the cultural legacy brought from the Mainland is not enough..Some people may raise Mr. Nan -x-x .. as an example ; Unfortunately , Nan is a scholar, not any master; any careful reader can identify this without difficulty..) d) Canada ( although having a big mass of land, high mountain..unfortunately no Taoist/Buddhist cultural legacy..need time to accumulate ) e) Some European countries: Unlikely; short cultural heritage..need some time to accumulate.. -

What exactly is "birthing a spiritual embryo"
exorcist_1699 replied to fatherjhon's topic in General Discussion
Likely some civilization in this universe already mix physical science (similar to our Greek + Western stuff) well with Qi-stuff ( Chinese+ Indian ( ?) ), without the bias tilting in favor of the materialist /rationalist view.., and theirs are therefore many times powerful than ours. -
What exactly is "birthing a spiritual embryo"
exorcist_1699 replied to fatherjhon's topic in General Discussion
A biological embryo is a product of an intercourse between a male and a female; a so-called spiritual fetus in Taoist alchemy is a product after qi and Shen of us having had their intercourse. The term " spiritual " embryo is not so precise as it is not purely spiritual , it involves "assimilating" pre-heavenly qi from outside as the "seed" otherwise no " fetus" will arise to be nourished for many months to come in our body . A man having a spiritual fetus does get some similar feelings as a woman gets conceived. And because the seed originates from the external qi , which always has its limitless source, a spiritual one is not so short-lived as a biological one.. -
I know little about film-making, so regarding what forms, what programs should be on such a channel,I do not have clear idea. However, the least thing I worry about is its running out of content to present . It will never happen! Taoism is a BIG topic, it includes all TCM ( Traditional Chinese Medicine) stuff, acupuncture, how we eat and live, or its relations with other religions..etc. Similarly, you can't image this form ( TheTaobums.com)running out topics to chat about... ( For example, me has hundreds of topics to write on , but there is no need for me rushing to post them..

Based on a book* written by a Ching-dynasty(1644-1911, AD)Taoist master, Fu JinChuan (付金銓),I summarize the following eleven questions in Taoist alchemy .If you find them silly ,then I have to say "yeah ", they are: 1) Taoist alchemy is said to be simple, or very simple. As Zhang BoTuan puts it : " Those who know the truth recognize how simple it is ; those who can't discern it , likely incline to make it as complicated as they can". But why so simple ? 2)It is said to be "just before our eyes" . Why? 3) Why say that Taoist alchemy is laughable ? Those who are stupid or smartest laugh at it . Those who are clever smile and ignore it . Is it due to its claim of attaining eternity , or because it emphasizes on using other sex's body? 4)Why say that it should be done at home, not on high mountains? 5)Why say that it must be succeeded through dual-cultivation, not solely by the effort of our mind or oneself? 6)Why say that those hazards will definitely arise in our practice? Any exceptions? 7) Why an " old yellow-faced female matchmaker" is needed ? 8)Why make use of the time is crucial? Why say that the flexible Zi time(活子時) is more important than the fixed Zi time ( 11:00pm~1:00am)? 9)It is said that real hermits live in public, hidden in mass , not in deep cave. Why ? 10)Why say that if not having our Te polished and upgraded, then there is no way of proceeding , or of laying the foundation? 11)why talk about the sun and moon? *" Stone for testing gold" ( 試金石) by Fu JinChuan. There are originally 24 of them, but I cut them to half here....

Suddenly Gotama's relics were on top of my head

"Heart Sutra" and "Diamond Sutra" are always my favorites in Buddhist classics ; how simple and straight a way they are in explaining Buddhist essence !! And, the more times I read them , the more I am convinced that Zen is the best system which inherits the marrow of Buddhist legacy . Such a great spirit, degenerating and disappearing after Buddha's death in several-century time in India, shifted to China and mixed with another great system , Taoism . -

Eleven silly Taoist alchemical questions
exorcist_1699 replied to exorcist_1699's topic in General Discussion
Mr. Fu does not provide any answers for his questions, nor can I. I think , what he wants to attain is to clarify some bias and ambiguities. Anyway, for some of them , I do get some ideas to share: 1) Regarding the simplicity of Taoist alchemy : I think by using Zen 's method to attain an awakening, then use that Mind to sublimate our jing to qi , likely be a very simple way.. 7) As some members here already mentioned, a matchmaker is to enable qi and shen to "marry" and then have an intersourse. Why yellow? The intercourse likely happen in the middle of our body, and the middle's color, in Chinese culture, is always said to be yellow. 8)Although yang-energy is said to arise at the Zi time in ordinary people's body (old people's Zi tends to be shifting backforwards , say to 3~5 am), and practicing at that time makes them easier arouse their jing ang qi , it is not necessarily important for the experienced Taoist practitioners. To them , yang can arise at any moment, many times a day in their bodies , dependent more on the spiritual quality than what time it is. So, whenever, it arise, you "assimilate" it.. -
*** Ancient Taoist Texts Revealed ! *** (Maybe :-D)
exorcist_1699 replied to Stigweard's topic in General Discussion
The main point that readers of above-mentioned writings have to pay attention to when reading them is : What is the basis or tendency of each of these writings: whether it is Heaven-based (天元), Earth-based(地元) or Human-based(人元) , or both? For example, no.3 is South school's classics, human-based stuff,so whenever it uses jargon such as "other party" ( 彼家 ) or " same species" ( 同類) it likely refers to something of the female; and, whenever it talks about dual cultivation, it likely refers to something happens in between the female and male. On the other hand, In Wu-Liu writings, no.5, which is North school's Heaven-based stuff , whenever it talks about dual cultivation never does it refer to male and female , but the intercourse between the Spiritual Nature(性) and Life(命) in the practitioner's body .
