Hello Sifu Terry, Many thanks for the clarification, I might have missed your instruction for closed-eye practice in the video - you might emphasize this in the future on the bullet points "Final practice is done with eyes closed", this IMHO would help remind students the importance of practicing with the eyes closed. Bottom line, FP is a rare treasure, thank you Sifu Terry for giving us this access. Best, Rene'

Hello Sifu Terry, I just realized when I began studying the LFFPHCM (vol. 4) that no mention is made on the DVD of practice with the eyes closed, but I'm assuming practice is with eyes open. Am I correct in my assumption? You have mentioned in the past that MGM is the only med done with eyes open in the entire system, so I had to ask. Best, Rene' PS I hope all is going well with you work

Hello Sifu Garry, Very cool! Thanks for sharing that bit. Cheers, R

One more Is it OK to rub general tonic acupoints like ST36 between FP exercises? Or will this disrupt the flow of energy being induced by the exercises? Thanks in advance, Rene'

Hello All, I thought you might enjoy this, a great talk on the growing field of plant neurobiology: Stefano Mancuso - The Roots of Plant Intelligence Very interesting that there is electrical activity in plant roots that is very similar to voltage patterns normally associated with EEGs - plants are picking up more from us than we probably suspect. At a minimum, I'll be sure to give pep talks to all my plants Cheers, Rene'

Hello All, In general, does GM Doo Wai recommend a general dietary regimen to complement each of the family arts? Or does he usually tailor recommendations to each student? I've really enjoyed the cooking videos he has put on YT and I think diet is a pretty crucial ingredient in all training regimens, but not often discussed. Is there any advantage of consuming chicken vs. red meat? I've recently become very fond of drinking chicken broth as a breakfast drink, a few studies have backed up its use as a recovery aid. Cheers, Rene'

Hello Sifu Terry, Any additional advice for measuring the third percentage breath (the 5 percent breath) of the Long Form? I seem to have problems measuring using the "1 potato" yardstick - I do a "1 pota-" as my halfway measure for the breath, but I always worry that I've extended the count a little past this point to make it closer to 7 or eight percent - I realize I might be splitting hairs, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Also, as a general measure I have been using my heartbeats as an approximation of the "1 potato" count at times, is this OK to use as well? Best, Rene'

Hello All, One more question: If I do calesthenic exercises in the morning (such as pushups, chins, squats, etc), is it better to to FP before or after physical exercises? Thanks, Rene'

Hello Everyone, Once again, many thanks for sharing your FP experiences, this has been most inspiring for me, a newbie - From what you have seen, is there any particular energy center that is emphasized in this system, or are all the energy centers giving equal attention? I have also been impressed with GM Doo Wai's knowledge of the role of diet along with FP for promoting overall health, I don't see this very often revealed from other teachers - Are there any general dietary guidelines that the FP school embraces? Any recommended body tonics, such as Shou Wu Chih? Best, Rene'

Hello, Very interesting stuff - The mudra that is used here seems to be also known as the Kubera (Hindu god of wealth) mudra, associated with wealth and making positive changes at the material level - Anyone know of the usual time frames for this practice? I'm assuming that you don't have to do this for hours, but anyone have any experiences with a given time frame? Cheers, R

Hello, I would encourage you to persevere as much as you can (within reason and your own comfort) - pain experienced in the beginning is usually a sign of energy blockages that will get sorted out as you do the exercises, so this in itself is feedback on upcoming progress that will be had. Rest assured, the pain should subside as you progress through the practice, be patient and take your time. All the best in your training, Rene'

Great stuff guys, I think DLR has some impressive mobility for a 55 yr old guy, although I suspect he may have had some augmentation with the hair . . . I know he studied with Paulie Zink, anyone else know of his other teachers? Cheers, R

Kudos Fu Dog! Nice to hear of your progress - I came to this shortly after you started this thread last year and began practicing around Jan 2010. Although I have not been as diligent in my practice, I have noticed a big difference in my own tendency to catch colds since practicing FP for short periods of time each day - I usually go through 2-3 exercises at a time and doing this consistently yielded substantial results very quickly, I managed to go through last winter with not even a sniffle, which was shocking to me - the only time I got sick this year corresponds to the same period of time where I stopped practicing FP consistently - at this point, I was skipping several days and would lay off for a week - I noticed a difference being away from the practice and got back on the wagon. Many thanks to Sifu Terry for sharing his knowledge here and thanks again Fu Dog for starting this thread. All the best, Rene'

Hello Sifu Garry, Many thanks for the tip, I will adjust practice accordingly. Best, Rene'

Hello Sifu Terry, Two more questions: Is there a prohibition against showering right after a session of FPCK? Does the breath sequence at the end of each exercise essentially "seal" in the energy so there is no leakage after? Thanks again, Rene'

Hello Sifu Terry, During the Monk Serves Wine meditations, I sometimes get distracted for a moment and then lose count - If I'm off by one repetition, will the three closing breaths take care of any inconsistencies? Or is there anything else I should do to correct for any mistakes? Is it better to add an extra rep if I suspect I haven't done the full 7? This doesn't happen often, but every once in a while I have a momentary daydream for a few seconds while I go through the movements, which throws me off. Many thanks, Rene'

Hi Rik, Thanks for the link and article - If I understand you correctly, you are saying that the crystal should be wrapped in regular Scotch tape, then this is attached to a non-metal string material for use - any particular reason for the avoidance of metal in the pendulum? I've experimented with these in the past and noticed others using both metallic and non-metallic materials, but I don't have much experience - I will try out your suggestions and let you know how things go. Cheers, R
  24. something attacks me

Hello, I *highly* recommend keeping up with any prayers you find comforting as well as Robert Bruce's "Psychic Self-Defense", this is a treasure trove of practical info - assuming this is indeed an external entity, keeping a light on as well as light music in the background usually makes it hard for these things to manifest, most of these things need dark and quiet conditions - most negative entities also hate garlic, try applying some of this to the bottom of your feet before bed - Bill Bodri recommends a hand mudra which basically is making a fist with the thumb inside as a protective measure (tse mudra) - during an attack, try your best to maintain a neutral mental state and strongly will this thing to get out, some entities feed off extreme emotions like anger. Best, Rene'
