Training Bagua IMO would be much better than pushups.

What's the origin of this qigong exercise?
Baguakid replied to David Yeh's topic in General Discussion
I'm with Soaring Crane, When I first read it I was thinking of Tai chi chigong shibashi.. The very last movement. Best, -
Sounds similar to Share K. Lew's Short 31. The last movement is sitting on the floor with the legs extended in front. The "L" comes from the Torso looking like the vertical part of the "L" while the legs look like the Horizontal part of the "L". Of course, BFP is not SKL so there may be some differences. Garry, Looking forward to your Burning Palms production. Best to all, Bill

Ha ha... Maybe but not to my face or if so in a joking manner. I thoroughly enjoyed China and I'm aching to go back.

Dear Sifu Dunn, Thank you for taking the time to reply. Greatly appreciated. Teeth are associated with the Kidneys so whatever he was doing was causing his Kidney health (along with the rest of his health) to be incredibly strong. In regards to Vegetarianism, I met one Qigong Master who said the degeneration of the body is largely do to the excessive consumption of ACID forming foods ( see Ph Miracle). That URL is not to the Master but a western perspective of the same point of view. In fact, this Qigong Master's entire exercise program had to do with reducing the Acid build up in the body as well as Building Kidney strength. I also met another teacher in China who's theoretical approach was very similar but with a different exercise routine. Very interesting. Thanks again for taking the time to post. Best,

Are there differences between the various qigong practices and how do I choose the right one for me?
Baguakid replied to mindspring's topic in General Discussion
Agreed.. Just the sheer basics of Circle Walking is enough to open channels and build an "iron body". Here's a clip of my Bagua teacher in Shanghai. http://www.youtube.com/user/baguabill#p/u/4/tvU-pfVH5TQ and here: http://www.youtube.com/user/baguabill#p/u/2/XEEaPE1UMZw -

Wah??? You're kidding right? What internal styles are you referencing here? -

I wouldn't worry about this. I lived in China for nearly 2 years. Traveled about and lived in places few LaoWai went. Never had a problem. In fact, I've met many very nice and kind people there who I call friends and with whom I still remain in contact.

Guys, IT WAS A JOKE!! DID YOU NOT SEE THE SMILEY FACES??????????????? I was ribbing TzuJanLi, No, not true... both course Qi through and open the meridians.. Taiji, though, has the ability to "accumulate" a greater amount of Qi IMO.

New Mexico Daoist Workshops - DAOIST IMMERSION - LIVIA KOHN
Baguakid replied to Stigweard's topic in General Discussion
No No No... There are Alchemy/Qigong exercises I would gladly pay 850.00 for if I could learn the exercise and the theory behind it. One on one with my teacher. Don't have any problem with that. What I don't want to do spend 8 days in a Kumbaya setting for a possiblity that I might learn a little something, maybe. I've been doing this stuff for too long for that. -

Yeah, but her practice outline in the seminar is extremely weak. I've paid up to 500.00 for one exercise set but that was in a private session and the content's quality was known prior to learning. Seminars should be an "Introduction" to meet the Master/Teacher and to decide if you want to further your study with that person (IMO) so they should be low cost. After that, then go for it. What can you learn in a weekend for 850.00 when the content is outlined as it is? I came up in the early 80s.. things were different back then. Accessible and good quality. Today there's quality out there but it's few and far between. Re: Respect Elders. Respect is one thing, but don't get down on ppl for questioning a 850.00 seminar. People have the right to question, especially in this economy. -

Academic and Applied are two different things. I wouldn't want to see her for "stories", especially for 850.00. I've heard enough free stories in my lifetime. The curriculum doesn't look so hot IMO. -
Yes, yes.... That's what my wife keeps telling me LOL <smile>

I would also like to ask if the two systems (SKL and GMDW) have a different approach in terms of longevity. Sifu Dunn, since you are close to both and have been for a long time, what are your observations? Would you say that SKL's system is better in terms of longevity or is there little difference in your opinion. Thanks in advance,
-
Sifu Dunn, Let me add something in regards to your statements about sexual activity about. To that I would also add that it depends on the individual's condition which I'm sure you already know. When I observed the old video of you teaching FPCK the first thing I noticed was the state of your physical condition. Your Xiantian and Houtian conditions were/are very good. In contrast, for example and for the other readers here, my situation was opposite. My Xiantian and Houtian were both very poor. So, I must be careful with sexual activity until the state of my body says otherwise. I just want to throw this out for others to consider when reading this thread. Would you agree?

Bob, Can you email or call me please? Check your AOL account. tks,

Sifu Dunn, I just got a chance to view the FP Qigong Video Tapes and while the instruction quality is good, they are visually lacking (somewhat of a slightly blurred image). Can you tell me if your DVD series has been reworked or enhanced? Thanks in advance,
-
Wow.... When I had the chance to learn the total cost was around 12k for a 3 year program. That was in the late 80s but unfortunately I wasn't able to start. I can't believe how much people pay today for TCM education.
-
I have the first two of JAJ's books and frankly they are mostly a rehash of TCM. IOW, not impressed. If I were I would have bought the rest.

Most Underrated Systems, Teachers, Books, etc

I've met Dr. YJM at one of Jeff Bolt's events and honestly, I wasn't impressed. Recently, a story by a local healer regarding his experiences with Dr. YJM solidified that feeling. The only one I would be interested in meeting out of your list is Cui Yuli.. but it seems she's a ghost as I have yet, over many years, to find her. Do you know where she is Bob? Best, -

Depends on what type of ZZ you're doing. Also, what's the underlying cause of the Liver Qi stagnation. I've been though the whole route for years and years. Herbs, Acupuncture, Massage, Qigong, Kung fu, etc, etc.... Best combination is proper diet and ZZ. -
Niko, I've had disagreements with both Kathy and Ken on this board, even heated arguments with Ken so take your comments and stuff em. I think you should keep going like you are. I'm sure Kathy and Ken are going to break soon and they will realize they are wrong and will work though day and night to translate everything for you. Just wait a little longer...
