I would say cat1239 has come closest to what my meaning was in my original post. Sorry for the vagueness. Maybe Qi was the wrong term. Like cat has said, rapid breathing (which is one of my gongs) can create a lot of fire, thus drying. However, in my standing there is no specific breathing done. Just breath naturally. My feeling on this is supplementing body yin. It feels soothing to my body.

I seem to remember seeing a post by Yamu saying that Zhan Zhuang is not good in conjunction with Stillness Movement practice? IIRC, does ZZ negate Stillness Movement effects? Any other types of exercises should be stopped? tks.

Through feeling... Alignment/standing qi feels more soothing, yin for "my" body. Breath qi feels more dry, makes my body feel something like dry leaves. If that makes sense.

How did Chi Kung Improve Your Health...?
Baguakid replied to ChiDragon's topic in General Discussion
1. How long have you been practicing... 20+ years 2. How often do you practice... Everyday, 1 to 3 hours a day depending on responsiblities. 3. How did your health improved... still improving. -
Yes, I know someone who is doing it. They wait until they have enough people to start a new class. They receive video lessons and send back video lessons and then meet once or twice a year. http://174.136.99.42/lobby/

Well, this is a new one for me. Anyone know anything about it? http://qirevolution.com/ tks.

Hey Hundun, good to hear from you. No worries. However, we will be leaving the area heading back to Florida so unfortunately we're not going to have time to meet. Things did not work out like we planned here. I did very much enjoy meeting you. Thank you much for warmly welcoming me. Best

It should be noted that it has been told to me that at one time SKL purposely taught the TC Ruler incorrectly for his own reasons. It has also been confirmed to me that the version written in Carl's book which I bought at around 2001 outlines the incorrect version. I would suggest that anyone interested in TC Ruler contact Carl to make sure he's obtained and is publishing the correct version. FYI.....

I have, perhaps you're not looking in the right place. -
Here is my experience on this matter. It depends on that person's body and if it can handle the qigong he/she is practicing. I've come across some forced and strong methods that if your body is not ready for it it will make your body worse. This is exactly like Chinese medicine. Ginseng, for example, is touted as being great for your body but if your body is not ready for it it will make your condition worse. Qigong is the same. I've heard of some people practicing the exercises I've aquired when not ready for them, and have seriously hurt themselves. I've had to use my nogin, listen closely to what my body tells me, study TCM, build theory, try, and adjust my practice to what my body tells me is right. Some qigong methods are benign for the most part. Wuji qigong standing meditation is such a method. I currently stand Wuji for 1 to 3 hours a day with no ill effects. In fact, with Wuji standing, the more the better, as long as one is not exhausted when practicing. Wuji builds kidney strength, detoxifies, opens channels, and builds qi. The downside it looks so simple most people I've met think it's either worthless or do not want to put in the effort to reap the results.

Do mainland Chinese believe more in materialism or taoism?
Baguakid replied to brawnypandora0's topic in General Discussion
1. What's so great about religion? It's stale, inflexible and a poor reflection, if any, of true spirituality. e.g. With the current state of the world's affairs, I have a psycho crazy B*tch at work enjoying every minute of the tragedies in the world because she thinks she will see Jesus soon. 2. There's a heck more morality in China than here (the U.S.). Here there's sex, foul language, and violence everywhere you look. China has it's problems, mostly due to exposure to the west, but I would much rather live there as an Expat than here (the US). 3. How is China "extremely hedonistic" Gerard? -

Alternative High Cholesterol Remedies?
Baguakid replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
I know some who have had great success with this: 1 cup raw ginger 1 cup raw garlic 1 cup fresh lime juice 1 cup apple cider vinegar (real, not flavored) Put everything in a food processor and blend down to tiny bits, smaller the better. Then reduce/simmer on stove to 3 cups. Let cool then add 3 cups honey. Take one tablespoon a day every morning. I know one guy who had coated arteries (per doctor) and after taking western meds it didn't help. Said he took this for 6 months or so and went back to the doc who asked him what he was doing because his problem cleared up. This is what he told me. I've been taking it ever since but no history of cholesterol issues... couldn't hurt. HTH... -
Hey Jess, Just curious but why do the references to some of the Chinese in your posts use the WadeGiles format rather than pinyin? WadeGiles is so outdated and difficult to reference. Thanks,

Buddhism is saturated with religion..
-
Because all they believe they need to do is believe in Jesus and they are all saved. No matter what they do in their daily lives.
-
I agree completely.

Dr. Love is a cool guy. Only had the chance to meet him once due to location issues but come to know his knowledge and compassion are outstanding. Way to go Dr. Love!!

No, I've seen these things take on a life of their own to the point that that's most of what's being talked about or taught. I see it as a design to "scare" people in the direction they (religious scholars) want them to go. Just as in Christianity, if one doesn't believe in Jesus then they'll spend an eternity in hell.
-
I would rather have liked to ask, Why is there so much negativism in Buddhism (which is what makes it a religion). Why is there teaching about so many levels of hell. Why is there teaching about coming back as a lessor life form? Just as in any religion, if you don't believe in that way you'll go to hell or come back as a bird or worm... etc etc etc... Why fill one's thoughts with these negative ideas?
-
Sorry, no help for you on that one.... What I have found by talking to a local high level Lama recently is that even Tibetian Buddhism contains the negative reinforcement aspects of any "religion" and thus I found dialog with this Lama as with other sects.... difficult.
