http://www.facingourrisk.org/hereditary_ca...d_genetics.html It's already been stated but what the hell. Cancer isnt hereditary. The mutated gene on the other hand is but that doesnt mean it's a guarantee that you'll actually develop cancer.

Iron palm taugh with instructor or through book?
h.uriahr replied to mewtwo's topic in General Discussion
External Iron Palm can be taught via DVD if you pay attention to what is taught and more importantly your own body. You can start out on beans or go straight to steel but obviously the amount of hits are going to be drastically different. You need jow for sure. Qigong is great to use as well and any basic qigong will work in the beginning but as you progress to more difficult breaks then you need to find a better qigong system. -
You're qualified to speak on this how?

Drew, you really have some remarkable posts sometimes.

That's the problem. People are judging by LOOKING and READING about it. I've looked at it and thought about doing it myself. The only XSZ I've done is off of medicinebeginswithme.com and it's fantastic. David's version looks more raw. I just havent had the time to actually watch the video and learn from David's.

My stepfather is the project manager on a job that I'm supposed to be involved in. We had a huge arguement outside of the workplace about family matters and now I'm worried that I may not be on that job anymore. Is there anything illegal about that?

I can understand why you are confused seeing as how this is a taoist website but obviously you didnt read the welcome banner. Welcome to The Tao Bums discussion forum. This is an informal community created to discuss Tao (Dao), particularly as is expressed in key philosophical texts such as the well known Tao Te Ching of Lao Tzu, health and cultivation practices such as Tai Chi and Qigong (Chi Kung), nonconceptual meditation approaches such as Zuowang (sitting and forgetting), and also the historical developments of Taoism as the bona fide Chinese religion of Taoist priests and shamans. Don't let this intro scare you though. Most of us are syncretic at heart. Discussion is encouraged to wander eclectically across a wide range of spiritual thought and practice, whether Buddhist, Yogic, Tantric, Judaic, Advaitic, Christian, Islamic, Shamanic, Occult, "New Age", Integral... As long as you are up for a good time, you're welcome to discuss your path. I put the little bold thingy in there so there isnt any confusion. I know you're pretty "hurt" about the whole DVD discussion but if someone is wanting to add a certain practice to their curriculum and want to ask about it is that wrong? I could very well be mistaken but even crappy dvds have their place in the tao. If they didnt then they wouldnt exist...E V E R. I know, I know "but you cant learn from a dvd". Well, that's just dandy but that's your opinion, not a fact, not a law of nature, not anything but your opinion, from your experience. It's great that you share it, obviously you're free to do so but that doesnt mean you're right or even wrong for that matter. It just means that you dont feel as though anyone can gain anything positive from using a DVD. Ninjar outsy beah beah

Guarantees are overrated and completely misunderstood. -
Hey Santi, Ok so you post a vid but you dont comment...I'm on edge Does this look familiar to you? I know that you have a VAST amount of knowledge in Tibetan teachings. Blessings.

Ok so I understand that everyone is human so it's hard to walk a perfect path, with that said, you say that you wont enter into a trap of negativity yet you say although when staying with you that was difficult because of the crappy food in your house. Now I understand that this could be taken as a simple statement but I think it has the intent of an insult. I dont expect you to be a GOD and flawless, far from it, but what I do think is that what Adam has said must have some truth to it because of the way you replied. The statement " The Truth Hurts " is in my opinion, entirely correct in this situation. Just as a side note, I have Jeff's level 4 cd for anyone interested, or maybe the lending library?

why I left Healing Tao/Universal Tao long ago
h.uriahr replied to sabin1star's topic in Systems and Teachers of
You've missed the point and you bring up another one with your 3 "facts". All you've done is proven that he's human and if I'm not mistaken, even people like Chang, Liping, Buddha, Jesus, and Mohammud are still human. 1) So what? He's not allowed to have faults? Ah you mean he's supposed to be God and have a perfect unity of energy? 2) So what? You're saying that because his system doesnt turn lead into gold every single time, for every single person that it's false and ineffective? Christianity isnt for everyone, nor is Tae Kwon Do, nor is Chia's system. Honda's arent for everyone, eating meat isnt for everyone, putting on your right shoe first isnt for everyone, and every other thing on this planet and beyond. 3) Oops on his part, if true. However, there's nothing new under the sun so basically everything we do today is a ripoff of something else. I've never tried his system. All I've ever done is checked out his website and purchased one book but it's clearly not for me. It doesnt click. Just because it's not for me doesnt mean that I'm going to argue that it's unsafe. There is no universal system. Life is a mountain with many paths. It's not a single lane road going one way to nowhere. -

Ok so what I want to know is who is this "master" that's questioning Chia's system anyway?? I'm pretty sure that if Buddha or Jesus actually parted the skies of the world and handed down a system to the people...they'd be criticized...Oh wait, that already happened. -

If you follow the common piece of advice "Dont train without a teacher", and it just so happens that a Bagua teacher isnt within reach, then you're going to sit and sulk and not do a damn thing but have regrets. First and foremost, a GOOD teacher is better than any book but all a GOOD teacher does is help you to learn and develop. They dont bestow you with some magical pixie dust, they show you what they know. (Unless of course you can find a teacher that gives impowerments, real ones that is) What's even better is if you follow the advice and find a teacher but cant tell if he's any good and he turns out to be full of shit and then you spend the next 10 years playing with shit and end up becoming a master of shit...then what? Find a teacher you can drive to every couple of months and train but by all means, read and watch all the books and dvds you can. You may find something that "touches" you. Circle walking was used as an example. Find a good video that really explains what's going on and if you really want to learn, you'll start playing with your body, tweaking here and there, shifting here and there until you "feel" it and then start walking. From my limited understanding, circle walking is the single most important exercise. Everyone's a critic. -

So what, the system didnt work for you. That doesnt mean it's not a great system. I dont practice it but that's because it doesnt seem like the system for me. Kunlun ist for everyone either. There is no perfect flavor that works for everyone. It's great that you share your ideas but just because you dont like it doesnt make it an invalid system. By the way you keep name dropping Daniel Reid and his books I'd say that you know him or are him. -

As long as you have the time, patience and dedication then you can learn by video. I'm not sure why there's so much negativity around dvd instruction. As a side note, I dont practice Bagua. If I were going to start, I'd start by getting the basics from chinafrominside.com -
