  1. Can We Transcend Lust?

I think in the least the acknowledgment of such a 'feeling' is indeed a good thing which in turn can greatly improve one's all-round awareness. The 'dantien' is so powerful and we should be aware of this point as much as is possible, in my humble opinion.
  2. Can We Transcend Lust?

I never said it was! Who's fooling who? However I was merely stipulating that it is indeed part of our existence and should not be completely disregarded, controlled and checked yes.
  3. Kung Fu Movies

Flashpoint - starring Donnie Yen is good and features some very realistic fight scenes.
  4. Can We Transcend Lust?

The question might be 'should' we transcend lust? I mean in terms of balance sex/lust is just part of our existence surely? However, as a westerner it is very different when you see and hear subliminal messages that convey sex all the time; and therein lies the problem.
  5. What is the Most Common Problem...

To be honest that's entirely how I feel. I try my best to not feel superior than others but I cannot help but feel that way in the presence of those I know are ignorant about meditation and 'internal' arts. Unfortunately I think I may appear aloof or arrogant as a result?
  6. Zhan Zhuang

I've just begun to practice Zhan Zhuang daily although just for a few minutes. My training currently involves running the 'microcosmic orbit', can anyone give me some principles on Zhan Zhuang training and how that differs in focus? I guess complete relaxation is a good place to start! Thanks.
  7. Zhan Zhuang

I know the definition and the method, I merely disagree that 'Microcosmic Orbit' is for sitting only. From my experience in Qigong, which I attest is only ten years compared to you, I have never heard anyone say that this should only be done sitting? I'm not familiar with this technique, I'll try to look into it. Regards.
  8. Zhan Zhuang

Mantak Chia teaches the 'microcosmic orbit' standing doesn't he? I was under the impression you can run this standing and seating whatever the preference.
  9. Is a Guru/Master/etc needed?

Hey, I'll give it a try. Thanks for your concern!
  10. Is a Guru/Master/etc needed?

Er no! And LOL at you jumping to conclusions and generally being facetious.
  11. Kung Fu Movies

I'd give Eastern Condors a 5.5 personally. Lam Ching Ying - Mr. Vampire.....................5.5 Yuen Biao - Kid From Tibet..................5.5 Iceman Cometh................4.5 Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao - Dragons Forever...............5
  12. Is a Guru/Master/etc needed?

Buddha, Chang San-feng perhaps? There are many more, people who defined their art without guides or help. But I agree with 'thelerner' in that we often need guidance in our practise to make sure we do not develop bad habits.
  13. Is a Guru/Master/etc needed?

An empiricist would tell you it is possible to learn a thing without guidance. I'm not advocating that at all but it is possible due to the naturalness that one feels in their training. If things are uncomfortable you refine and learn from that experience. A teacher can help but is surely not necessary.
  14. Therapy for stroke

Hi, really sorry to hear that. I'm no expert on this subject but I would imagine massaging the body would be a good place to begin. Rei Ki would be an option too I presume but other than that I'm not sure. Sorry for stating the obvious if that is what I've done? Best wishes.
  15. Tanglang (mantis) boxing

I can't actually see the video as I'm at work. Is she the older Bow Sim Mark? If she is then she's Donnie Yen's Mother!
  16. working with the abdomen

I've read that Bruce Lee used to practise an exercise similar to this.
  17. Tea

I really enjoy Jasmine tea and it complements food perfectly. Peppermint tea also aids digestion and also both teas are known to relax the body. They should both be drunk light and obviuosly without milk and sugar.
  18. Zhan Zhuang

Interesting responses, thanks to all. Now I need just find the time, which is itself a problem!
  19. Zhan Zhuang

Thanks for your response. When I learned Qigong I was taught to run the microcosmic orbit standing in wuji (although I understand this can also be done sitting). I knew as much to not run the microcosmic orbit when in Zhan Zhuang, is that what you mean? Kind regards.
  20. Kunlun Level One

I'm not familiar with the name Kunlun, can you tell me the characteristics of this system? Thanks.
  21. Longquan Temple

Is this Longquan Temple in Haidian District, Beijing?
  22. IMA vs. MMA

On the subject of IMA v. MMA, I think at the very simplest level the focus is different. MMA is an aggressive philosophy that denotes forcing the fight, in contrast the IMA exponent should not have the mentality to be the aggressor in a fight. The IMA only deals with the attack and subdues the opponent, so in practical terms this may often be difficult to see portrayed in the UFC. From my experiences of training in Beijing, I've met some pretty amazing Taijiquan practitioners who can Fa Jing anyone with the slightest force. This is the ultimate goal of IMA and one that MMA competitiors are not concerned with; they focus on physical strength and force too much and I firmly believe that any IMA with sparring practise (Sanshou) would win easily by using their understanding of subtle techniques. Well that's my short response anyhow.
  23. sinking to dan tien

I would say using the mind is always a good place to start, that and abdominal breathing. Sitting meditation perhaps would be advised.
  24. Semen Retention Help

Are you talking about problems due to using the 'million dollar point' to control ejaculation? I don't quite understand, because it is possible to have an orgasm but refrain from ejaculation. And what kind of problems are you talking about?
