Yea, I was pretty sure Deng Ming-Dao and his stories were largely a fictional literary account by Frank Erik Kwai. However, I know some people who had met Frank (I think Oscar, for example) and said he had good physical health and some martial skill. So, I wouldn't call him a total fraud or "waste." Anyhow, "Opening the Dragon Gate" is probably far more veritable, really being based upon a true story, although with some artistic license used...

What's that?

I'm guessing that you shouldn't try retention until you've opened your MCO and can actually circulate your jing up, not stagnate it. Although, I doubt that has much to do with any latent homosexuality... PS - Who's that in your avy?

Kundalini and the Mystery of the Sacred Geometric Temples of the World.

I had a vision of a building like this today. The roof was sort of a standard triangular section intersected with a dome. It was made of red bricks with white upper sections on the towers. But I have no idea what it means, if anything? -
What's the point of Union with Tao? Enlightenment? Satori?
gendao replied to DaoChild's topic in General Discussion
I had a clear turning point in my life when I was walking home from school at the age of 9. I had it pretty good by that point - always had perfect grades without much effort, was popular, attractive and athletic. Yadda, yadda. That's about as good as it gets in worldy terms. So, I philosophically asked myself, "Is this all happiness is?" It was surely nice...but was that really as good as it got? VERY shortly thereafter, my life started going dowwnhiiillll...lol. -
What do energetic practices have to do with enlightenment?
gendao replied to 11:33's topic in General Discussion
If you just want to enlighten your mind, then you don't need to. This is more typical of mainstream Buddhists. But Taoists (and some others) believe that if you want "full body" enlightenment, then you need to do energetic cultivation too. Note that "Rainbow Body" is found only amongst Tibetan Buddhists, not mainstream Buddhists. This is probably due to the fact that Tibetan Buddhism has indigenous Bon energetic cultivation mixed in. The Buddha himself, who supposedly chose to die at 80, had a quite remarkable passing, but no Rainbow Body. However, note that my understanding here is vague, speculative and could admittedly be wrong. -
Sounds like a great combo...circular & fluid + linear and choppy. I really like the way he moves . Looks very fluid, fast and full of qi. Wonder what they do for their qi development and possible packing?

My eyes have been tearing up a lot lately and leaving salt around my eyelids as they evaporate off. And also forming lots of mucous. I wonder if my eyes are detoxing...or is this just allergies?

An interesting form of speaking in tongues I heard recently is dubbed the "language of light." And just listening to it really activated me. You can hear a small sample of this type of "channeling" here. Funny thing is that shaking and speaking in tongues amongst certain Christian sects may actually be symptoms of kundalini awakening...unbeknownst to them.

Sounds interesting. Would she also recommend this treatment right now for everyone in general? Prices here don't look tooo bad: Berberis Homaccord $19.99 Lymphomyosot $17.49 Nux Vomica Homaccord $19.99 (All 3 w/S&H for $60.97)

This site also shows this pic, but doesn't explain its offset position:

How close are you to your top energy levels?
gendao replied to Chi kung apprentice's topic in General Discussion
I think I may have a chakra out-of-line or leaking some energy... How do you properly align, orient and spin your chakras? How can you check what their condition is like? This site seems to make some sense, although it also creeps me out since it credits the info essentially from "Satan." I "guess" that doesn't necessarily make the info inherently "evil," as info is info, right? Anyhow, it basically says that all chakras should generally be pointed inward towards the heart, unless you are purposely directing some energy outwards. I guess this does seem to somewhat square with most traditional depictions of chakras, though: -

I wonder if the mandala you saw (Falun Gong-type) looks like the one Dragon Gaters saw? Does anybody have the drawings of that mandala from this workshop? -

Very cool! Do you know why each qigong type cultivates each aspect in particular? And is there a proper order to do these in? For example, open channels first, then meridians, then Shen & Yi, etc? Also, are there ones which cultivate jing more? Or yin or yang qi? -
Zhan Zhuang -- What is it? Recommended books?

I would be curious exactly as to why each qigong type cultivates each aspect in particular? -
What's the yummiest food at the Chinese Grocery store?
gendao replied to Yoda's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Aside from stuff that obviously looks good, here's a few I like: Dan ta (egg custard tarts): Canned roasted eel: Seitan "jerky" (avoid if you don't tolerate gluten) Fried chili seasoning (but tastes great alone out of the jar, lol) -
I agree - probably most aren't taught correctly. I think because many teachers often don't understand the underlying principles themselves, aren't willing to teach them if they do and subtle internal concepts can be very hard to teach even if they really tried. Far easier and financially sustainable to lead people robotically through the motions with you class after class...instead of cutting to the chase with laser precision. Which would save the students lots of time and money, but possibly cause the teacher to lose a lot. Although, a lot of time the simplest path can also be the hardest one...so that teacher's concern is not necessarily true, either. BrokenFist64 - I would agree that you have to know what to take from each art. From WC I took the concept of fighting angles...which is the whole point of using the wooden dummy. Learning how to get around the body's major offensive and defensive weapons.

Attention! Letter From David Verdesi Regarding Wang Liping
gendao replied to r.w.smith's topic in General Discussion
Interesting post, kinda reflects what I had said here, about how the egoic pursuit of power only gets you so far in this game. There's mastering the illusion and then there's transcending the illusion... That said, I do know a medical qigong doctor who I've never seen sick even once and looks radiantly young for her age. So, it may be that alchemical neigong doesn't necessarily have the same health benefits as simple qigong for health (which is what I assume she practices). BTW, I don't think DV has no skills - the main critiques against him have been concerning his business practices. And similarly, I don't think he questions WLP's level so much as the limited amount that he may teach his students. -
ThetaHealing talks about 7 planes of existence. Also, I think Santiago went through several layers or planes when he had some of his wild "outings"...

Interestingly though, the ancient Knights Templar transmitted the energy of the Holy Grail by the breath through kisses:

So, would you say that these ancient, classical alchemical techniques lead to immortality, union with Dao via emptiness or both? IOW, are these fundamental techniques to purist Taoism - or a Chinese cultural side path? And if not true Taoism, then what do you practice to become one with Dao? Simple "Zen-style" emptiness meditation?
