TM is not real meditation, it is more like hypnosis
gendao replied to Tibetan_Ice's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! Well, would there perhaps be a way to combine the 2 in a sense - like use hypnotic techniques to go "deeper" in meditation, but without intention? Like more just to bridge the conscious and subconscious/superconscious to tap into deeper wisdom? Perhaps my bigger question revolves around how to consult our own inner Oracle in all decisions big and small? What if I want to know what is really causing a health or life blockage, or choose my next step in life? Find a lost puppy? Do we open our 3rd eye, follow our hearts, listen to our guts, go into deeper/trance/brainwave states via hypnosis or meditation, await sudden insights in our dreams, channel our Higher Self, dowse/pendulum/muscle test/Oujia board/automatic handwrite, pray, use Tarot cards/Yijing, etc etc? -
“WE WANT the Chinese to leave and the old colonial rulers to return,”
gendao replied to Golden Dragon Shining's topic in The Rabbit Hole
European colonialism was FAR worse - there's just no comparison. Aside from assorted atrocities and human/environmental abuses, the primary difference was that Europeans SEIZED natives' land and planted their flags in them. IOW, rather than respectfully playing by the locals' rules as immigrants, they suddenly TOOK OWNERSHIP of their land and resources, claimed them as their own, and installed their own governments. And then subjugated the dispossessed natives under them!!! So, even WITHOUT any additional graphic abuses - such massive land grabs and regime change ALONE are abhorrent!!! What the Chinese are doing is simply business with Africans - providing services for a fee (not free, of course). Which they also have before in history. This is no different than hiring someone to renovate your kitchen. Fears of exploitation with them now are mainly just latent fears of repeating history with Europeans from centuries ago... Which really has nothing to do with the Chinese, though. -

Are meditation and hypnosis essentially 2 similar methods with similar goals (accessing "deeper and deeper" states of consciousness, etc)...or not? If not, then how are they different? Has anyone gone into both deep meditation and hypnosis - and could actually compare the 2 from personal experience? And could anyone recommend the best site, book, video, or other media on how to do deep self-hypnosis? -
Interesting... What is your source for the full ranges in this table?

According to this article, the 3 chakras that essentially correspond to the 3 Chinese dantian's are the only really "universally-recognized" ones. The others vary even within different Indian traditions...

It's like there's been a collective mind swipe, and implanted fear of remembering... Because the eventual vast implications might be too big, as they lead back to the very origin and history of humankind. Ignorance is bliss, except with nagging doubts pushed to the back of the mind. And these memories seem to keep resurfacing at the fringes of our collective consciousness. Some uphold these as hidden truths, others deny them as "conspiracy theory false memories." Who really knows, maybe the answer lies somewhere in between? Like what if...

Le's go further back... Who plagiarized Sumerian mythology, repackaged it as the Old Testament, and how much global destruction was then wreaked over millenia using its ideology as justification? Talk about a religion used for mind control! Or first factually considered, and then either proven or disproven... For example, as far as driving fatalities, Native Americans & Whites are actually the worst drivers since they have the highest drunk driving rates. Asians actually have the least driving fatalities. Of course, fatal crashes are just 1 part of driving skill. There's also minor infractions, road rage, etc.. But, fatal maneuvers are arguably the most important one.

From an old Team 'Murica propaganda article that completely ignores the TRUTH behind this movie: Of course, the irony is that HOLLYWOOD is the one who lacks imagination...and thus STOLE this whole idea from a Chinese immigrant! ...Welcome to Murica!!! -
Well, I guess it's a site specifically about AYP, and doesn't claim to be otherwise? So, it sounds like any other "rival" methods that start gaining too much traction there (like The Presence Process (TPP), for example)...will eventually get banned?

Good question. Traditional internal training sometimes employs isometrics, like horse or other stances. But, not really weightlifting. I'm not even exactly sure how isometrics are intended to work, but I think the main goal is to somehow reduce internal resistances, not external resistances (weightlifting). And from the other end, I don't think top weightlifters have developed any qigong-like side effects - which you think they would have noticed at that level? So, just label me highly-skeptical...until proven otherwise (or not!), lol.

Well, note that in the Western Cultural Matrix, "getting grounded" is actually conditioned as a PUNISHMENT in childhood! Squat toilets are snubbed as "backwards"... And being barefoot is also used as an insult by feminists! But in reality, who's living backwards???

Common problem... Protip: Flexibility training (which can take a ~decade) actually precedes proper meditation...

They obviously took this from Michael Brown's Presence Process where he explains on p 198: Essentially, reactive behavior (getting upset -> blaming -> feeling guilt, regret, or shame) assigns responsibility for emotional triggers to outside factors, while responsive behavior (dismiss the messenger -> get the message -> feel it -> come-pass-on) assumes and looks for internal causation.

Generally speaking, Jesus was a classic revisionist for his Dad's codes of conduct. Ergo the New (Son's) vs the Old (Dad's) Testaments - and contentious generation gap between the 2. His story is perhaps the most pop culture example of Campbell's Seeking Atonement with the Father phase (for himself and all of "Daddy's chillun")...

Actually, I think the cross-cultural evidence of an ancient "Annunaki" birdman cult extends far beyond Crespi's alleged findings, though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKf-HwiwPY0&t=12m59s

Well, if no animals ate other animals, there would be overpopulation and degeneration of each species. In nature, predators generally prey on the least fit members to cull them out of the gene pool as a form of quality control. Problem with people is they eliminate this natural selection and ALL off their livestock gets INDISCRIMINATELY killed, not to mention lots of habitat too (largely for beef)! NOT TO MENTION, in nature - predators also only get to eat prey if THEY are fit enough to catch them! But most people don't actually hunt their own food, and would probably STARVE if they had to!

I also assume you've tried colonics, too? If not, you could probably use a series...

When you do things that you like, are you aligned with Tao?
gendao replied to Veezel's topic in General Discussion
Following your own Nature sounds simple...the problem is FINDING your true Nature first! And as far as physical bodywork, just a hint - but flexibility, suppleness, openness, etc are FAR more important for the Daoist internal arts than bodybuilding... -

How does the average American live in The Way?
gendao replied to Veezel's topic in General Discussion
Lol, of course it's not. Let's just start with the name... "America" was named for Amerigo Vespucci, a wealthy Italian voyager who wasn't even the first of his countrymen to voyage to the land. Obviously, he was preceded by Columbus. Who was preceded by Vikings, various Asians and others prehistorically who became the "Natives" "America" is just another Jewish rebrand for something already discovered long ago and used by other cultures for millenia... Kill the present owners, rename it and you now own it. So, what was "America" called before then? Answer that question and then we'll start finding its true identity & spirit. -
How does the average American live in The Way?
gendao replied to Veezel's topic in General Discussion
Well, it's like the adage to "follow your heart..." Problem is, most Americans' hearts are closed and blocked. So, that's like following a broken GPS. Thus, before you can just follow your Nature and go effortlessly with the flow, you must first unobstruct your Nature. This actually requires a lot of self inner work (although pop Daoism & philosophy typically skip this fundamental step). Make no mistake though, effortlessness (wei wu wei)...is only preceded by a lot of initial effort (吃苦功)!!!
