Race mixture,To rich the next stage in human development.
gendao replied to LAOLONG's topic in General Discussion
Actually, most Africans contain no Neanderthal DNA, as opposed to everyone else in the world. And Spotless claims racial differences are detectable in subtle frequencies, resulting from deep-seated "wolf pack" differences: -
Another explosion in a Chinese citiy this Wednesday?
gendao replied to ChiForce's topic in The Rabbit Hole
It was a weak defensive show of force in response to several of these recent US "rod of god" kinetic attacks on their cities - launched to prevent China from issuing a legitimate gold-backed currency and divestment of USD currency reserves. -
^^ Interesting - sounds like basically Cobra Pose to counteract a slouch. Although I've found that computer slouching is often caused by a tight posterior chain, particularly hamstrings... That keeps your pelvis/thigh angle obtuse, which then inverts your lumbar curve and collapses your spine like a leaning Jenga stack... And when your body is not properly aligned, it must then strain to compensate. Ergo, lower back pain...

Herbs are good as short-term boosts, but I think genuine healing must be internal - where the problems actually lie.

What's that exactly?

Doubtful. This forum was founded by disillusioned "ex-pats" from his Healing Tao, so I wouldn't say he is regarded quite highly by anyone here... As far as "real" qi feeling like electricity, I don't know? It is true that you can talk to 3 Daoist peers in China, and you will get 3 different opinions on Daoist training methods, though...

That's a good question. Is everything our own subconscious projection or resonance - even physical laws like gravity? I do wonder if there's perhaps a spectrum that extends from our conscious, to subconscious, to collective unconscious, etc... And perhaps a very deepset belief in gravity might reside on the deep collective unconscious level that we accept when we incarnate on this planet? Which would then be very hard to access and hack now - similar to DNA. But, who knows??? I'm just now working through my subconscious layers and haven't dug much deeper than that yet...

Yes, they can be. I didn't say it was easy, lol... Anyways, what I was referring to was self-inquiry, like per Byron Katie's work. For example, typically issues that repeatedly emotionally trigger us are: 1) Mirrored reflections (Freudian projection) - In your case, that could mean you were pushing hands with your own Shadow Self - who might feel too disempowered to directly express anger, so suppresses it into passive-aggressive resentment and furtively displaces it only opportunistically instead. This would be exemplified by your opponent using the pretext of a "peaceful, spiritual" art like Taijiquan...to slyly discharge her displaced anger in furious fajin suckerpunches during "friendly" push hand matches... 2) Role-playing - Perhaps you've regularly assumed the role of a "sore loser" or "victim" of a 2-faced backstabbing persecutor for some secondary gain? If so, you might recognize this same persona in various relationships in your life (like your mother, friends, lovers, co-workers, etc). 3) Subconscious belief - Perhaps you subconsciously believe that one must cheat to win and honest players get screwed. Then, you live out that belief over and over...creating your own Catch-22 where you can't win because you refuse to cheat and keep getting "beat" by darn cheaters... 4) A combination of the above or something else, etc, etc, lol... Anyhow, once you figure out whatever the underlying issue is and resolve it, you will be amazed at how all your future interactions with this lady (and others like her) "magically" transform...without having to overpower her with force or avoid her. Because in all martial arts, your opponent is ultimately YOU.

All confusion, and many of these mainstream religions certainly don't help with any real insight. Simple answer is that all external conflicts are fractal extensions of internal conflicts. Therefore, they can (and ultimately must) all be solved internally without the need for any external violence.
-
How exactly do you move the fascia internally and how does extreme softness aid that? And how are the Anatomy Trains fascial meridians defined as - and how do they compare to Chinese qi meridians? And could you describe what Dan's "internal power" felt like? Are there any videos of him in action?

Wuwei means allowing your own true Divine Nature to freely flow, express, and act through (or instead of) you - hence, "you" do nothing. Of course, this is a lot harder than it sounds, because "you" are essentially the obstruction full of conscious and subconscious beliefs and blockages that serve as egoic RESISTANCE to such Divine flow. But all of that has to be cleared out in order to allow your true, spontaneous, divine nature to flow through unimpeded like a superconductor. So, there is actually a lot of (Yang) work involved to first clear yourself out...in order to fully allow (Yin) your true wuwei nature.. Otherwise, skipping this step is like "allowing" water to flow through a completely clogged pipe, lol. No dice!!!

blood stasis/liver stagnation from injury, advice appreciated!
gendao replied to Ant's topic in General Discussion
Very interesting fractal expression. Not only is liver (wood) stagnation causing heat in your stomach (earth) meridian...you literally "destroyed" your stomach with a physical piece of wood! Exactly as depicted by wuxing theory, lol! So, how were you feeling at work before you impaled yourself? Angry at something? -
What many practitioners don't realize is that a lot of tension is chronic and subconscious (think Reichian armor or Rolfing's emotional muscular tension) - and therefore cannot simply be released consciously (in beta state) mentally in real-time. In fact, most people aren't even consciously aware of it to begin with! "Hey, I'm relaxed man...even though I can't come even close to touching my toes or a backbend!" But, I believe that is precisely a lot of the underlying excess tension that needs to be released for fluid flowing... Relaxing conscious tension is relatively easy. Relaxing subconscious tension takes a lot more clever work...but is arguably even more important.

True, but there's a good chance his knee injury was physically due to carrying too much weight and a tight kua, or other myofascial areas. The main point of opening the kua for full lotus is to take the strain off the knees and ankles. Because all of the leg rotation should be at the hips, not the knees. So, the process of attaining full lotus would demand releasing such tight areas, vastly increasing flexibility, and losing any excess weight - not to mention all the psychological clearing involved in all these physical changes as well.. All of which would lay a true foundation for pursuing more advanced practices later... But, feel free to agree or disagree. Just my measly $.02.

^ Some good basic videos, although stretching is a whole art unto itself that covers a whole lot of technical ground. But these are still great starting points. Just realize that it's also easy to be deceived into underestimating the difficulty of these stretches. For example, in the first video, like soft sofa cushions. Whereas, I've been stretching (not butterfly in particular, though) for years now and still can't do that! And, as you undertake this journey, you will also end up learning a lot more than simply how to get into some "silly" pose... As you will be forced to work through all your psychosomatic sticking points/blockages to get there - which is likely part of its intended purpose. The password to power is not verbal, it is the action of persistent effort for practically indiscernible progressive gains. Like the quietly relentless action of water wearing down a stone or wind slowly moving a sand dune a mile. This password is difficult to hack and only the sincerely faithful will make the cut in the end. Actions speak louder than words and are the only things that ultimately count... Of course...if you can find a sustainable shortcut to bypass all this, then more power to you and do tell!!!

No offense taken and no need to apologize, but good self-inquiry. Also, you can take my post with a grain of salt as I myself have neither achieved a relaxed " " full lotus, much less later stages of attainment contingent upon that yet. Therefore, I am not speaking completely from personal, field-tested experience. I just wanted to add a theoretical "pearl of wisdom" and counterpoint to the other extreme viewpoint more widely-presented here. What I have slowly realized now is that in the old days, students likely did not start off just learning neidan in China. They probably typically started off with years of basic gongfu training, particularly including opening the kua and rooting, etc. During this hard training, they probably also gradually crossed over into self-healing. To heal their own bumps and bruises, as well as energetic blockages. This probably took another good number of years using a variety of methods. Finally, once they had attained a requisite degree of flexibility and cleared meridians, they could begin more "passive" meditation and "deeper Yin" spiritual arts. This is probably why neidan doesn't provide a how-to manual for attaining full lotus - because it assumes you already achieved that through prerequisite foundational training by the time you started. Of course here in the New Age West of instant gratification, most such foundational training is relatively obscure and considered entirely separate, unrelated, and so often omitted. Adepts want to jump right into the advanced stages of training, but then are left clueless when they can't even assume the most basic fundamental forms presumed in them.

Because you are too tight and got a loooonggg ways to go...! And sure, you can meditate in any position for some benefit, but FULL LOTUS is the only one that really simultaneously opens and grounds your huiyin both at the same time. Which is why it is the best position in ALL traditional Chinese neidan (from Longmenpai to Mopai), if not gentrified New Age derivatives (who never really understood its actual functions - and therefore say it "doesn't matter," or even suggest counterproductive modifications that defeat its intended purposes!)..

A few humble questions for Aurelian's consideration... 1) What exactly does it mean to fuse or merge Yin & Yang, as a lot of neidan theoretically dictates? Is it more like just connecting them, like forming an electrical circuit? Or tuning into and syncing up certain waveforms? Or akin to creating an electromagnetic field using "electric" Yang and "magnetic" Yin? 2) How do you practice genuine ming gong (命功) and replenish xiantian yuan jing/qi, if you can? 3) Could you compare and contrast Wang Liping/Longmenpai, Jiang Feng (江峰)/Gengmenpai (耿门派), & John Chang/Mopai? What's the most amazing/impressive thing you've witnessed/experienced from any of them and who would win in push hands or arm-wrestling? 4) Can you define theoretically and experientially: zhen qi (真气), Yin & Yang qi? And what would happen if Yang qi flowed in a Yin meridian? 5) Why does Daoist immortality theoretically result from complete True Yang only, and not some reintegration or transcendence of Yin & Yang polarity? 6) What is the definition of and importance of "love" from a Daoist perspective? 7) What personally inspired or drew you to Daoism and what is your ultimate goal?

A Working Theory About Beliefs and Reality
gendao replied to DreamBliss's topic in General Discussion
What if all phenomena are simply memes that exist on different layers of our consciousness - like conscious, subconscious, and deeper collective unconscious? Conscious beliefs are the easiest to access, but also the least powerful. "Universal" phenomena like gravity might exist on the collective unconscious - and thus come factory-installed and be more difficult to hack? Trying to change that might be like trying to heal one's DNA/ming/extraordinary vessels/bone marrow/etc... -
A Working Theory About Beliefs and Reality
gendao replied to DreamBliss's topic in General Discussion
^ Nice quote, what exactly is the Pronoia? I do agree that our subconscious beliefs determine what we (subconsciously) choose to experience. Although I wonder about near-universal phenomena like gravity? I was still subject to gravity even as a baby - so does that mean I already subconsciously believed in it by birth? How many subconscious beliefs does a newborn really have? And where do they come from, if so? And if some phenomena are based upon collective subconscious beliefs, when exactly did we opt-in to those, and how can we opt-out? -

How exactly do you target & strengthen the tendons, and not muscle bellies?
-
Actually, Daoism is about the realization of our True Nature (note: not True Self). Whereas Christianity doesn't even acknowledge a Unified Self, much less non-dual "emptiness." It definitely preaches an eternal egoic divide between localized and Divine bandwidths of consciousness.
