Could anyone please review this book or Robert Peng in general for us? Ideally someone with some personal experience? He looks pretty healthy for 47! Although that half-lotus looks pretty weak... Sooo...worth 34 bones, or no?

A few different approaches here. I guess mileage varies because different people may have different bottlenecks. I guess the key is to find out which you have and then customize your approach accordingly... For me, my SHO is not open yet, so I do need to rely upon physical stretching to get to full lotus. In addition, physically opening my kua would allow me to assume that pose spontaneously at any time and the increased flexibility also aids me in any daily activities without preparation. For a long time, I've been wondering exactly why full lotus might be the "ideal" pose in Eastern meditation? I've heard a number of explanations, but I had another "inspired" idea this morning - that the slight strain induced from the bending/flexing of our large leg bones/joints in this pretzel position create a piezoelectric effect and the grounding of our sitz bones allow an infrasonic resonance with the Earth. It's like stringing a bow (or musical instrument) and then staking it into the ground.

Actually, that's probably the problem. Blue states in particular have taken a nosedive after the housing bust.. So, it sounds like he may actually be in one of the worst locales right now for finding work. The upside to this is that the economic climate should be better if he does relocate anywhere else.. Cities in Florida are just not really the "norm" right now.

Or at least ban any TANF/social welfare assistance for any additional children beyond 1. Therefore, if you CHOOSE to have any more than that, it's ALL ON YOUR OWN DIME, period. Whereas currently, our liberal welfare system actually subsidizes this instead:

First off, WELCOME BACK TAO BUM HERO DREW!!! This place hasn't been the same without you! Thing is, full lotus should NOT be underestimated. It's a very difficult pose to reach and meditate in comfortably that requires a lot of physical preparation to attain! And unless you are naturally flexible or young, this can easily take several years to progressively stretch your kua out sufficiently. Like, I have been stretching daily for 2 years now and am still only meditating in half-lotus... If you can master these 2 poses (tortoise & pigeon), I'm guessing you will probably be able to sit deeply in full-lotus comfortably. (Although I can't say for sure now since I'm not there myself yet.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BDnlBdA49o BTW, if your feet are slipping off, you are still wayyy too tight and they are also not up high enough on your thighs near your waist. There's really no point in even trying to meditate in full-lotus unless you can at least first perform the 2 "prerequisite" stretches above adequately..

Fascinating! I don't know what all you can disclose about your master, but what level is his own attainment (opened microcosmic orbit, macrocosmic, orbit, etc?) and what school or style does he teach? Is it more neidan or a martial art? Etc?
-
Fascinating! That last line alone was worth gold! What did you see him shapeshift to, btw?

No, you've missed the whole message of your personal poverty experience. Why do you think your soul chose it this life?? Why are you so irrationally emotionally-vested in social/financial inequality, stubbornly defying all logic? Why does it hurt you so much to be poorer than someone else - even if they fairly attained their wealth? *** SPOILER ALERT *** BECAUSE YOU HAVE LOW SELF-WORTH. YOU DON'T VALUE YOURSELF HIGHLY. As a result, you project this inferiority complex onto others back at yourself. Which also manifests as low financial worth. You literally feel like you are "worth nothing." And that's what is really bothering you here. This feeling then gets amplified by further basing your self-worth upon financial status and other societal benchmarks - thus further reinforcing your own complex in a feedback loop. So now everytime you feel financially worthless, you feel even more personally worthless. Ouch.. The answer then is to find your own inherent self-worth - which is not based upon anything, actually. It's inherent. Only people who base their self-worth on financial worth view financial inequals as truly inequals. But once you discover your own innate worth, you'll feel worthy independent of any worldly materials. Do you think a 1000-yo majestic Redwood or a blue whale give a rat's ass about the rat race??? Do you think they give a sh*t that they're 100% broke and only humans make money? No, because money has no value to them and hence they don't judge themselves or others by their bank accounts. Now, I'm not saying money is bad, by all means. It's great! But just a great bonus, to what you already are.

I think measuring the amount of time spent using pr0n would be a better starting point for analysis. Money spent can be comparatively inaccurate due to varying regional costs-of-living and also freeloading with P2P file-sharing. I mean, you could easily download 1000s of hours of pr0n absolutely FREE - and that would never show up in "money spent." That said, it's no big secret the Japanese and Germans are infamous for kinkiness. Also remember that prostitution is basically legal (I think) in those (and various other) countries, as well.

Well, another way to look at this is that consumer-driven capitalist is a form of real-time direct democracy. People vote for the ideals and principles they support with every purchase (or choice not to purchase), much like Nielsen ratings or website hits. Money talks, BS walks! You simply cannot spend a red cent without supporting a cause with that red cent. So like it or not, our society is largely shaped by our very own mass American "mindless" consciousness. However, consumerism doesn't cause mindlessness. Mindlessness causes mindless consumption. The real questions here would be what actually cause mindlessness, addiction, craving, etc. Which I think Buddhism (and other thought systems) have some answers for... So, if people want to change society, then they have to change their mindless, addicted selves first. Once that's done and hits a tipping point, society WILL then change to reflect that!

Again, the moving red herring goalposts.. Since alcoholism was/is rampant in anti-capitalist Eastern Bloc countries - you are now attempting to blame addiction on poverty "induced by capitalism," instead of directly on capitalism. Yet, Communist countries are, as a whole, ALL VASTLY POORER than any capitalist countries - so there goes that argument... Moreso, crime and addiction are not simply proportional to poverty, either. Street crime & addiction are faarrr lower in China, for instance, despite an average income of only $3000 USD. And in the US, drinking and drug use are also a privilege commonly enjoyed by the bourgeoise leisure classes with more free time & money on their hands: Well there goes that argument of poverty = crime & addiction, too.. If anything, there is likely even a reverse causation, where addiction often causes crime & poverty! So, I'm also confused what actually bothers you? Poverty or inequality (of wealth, etc)? Because those are 2 entirely different things..
-
Nonsense. In most "civilized" societies, kids are all repeatedly warned against crime & drug use. In most of these countries, drug use and crime are also illegal. This goes across-the-board for most developed capitalist, Socialist, Communist & authoritarian countries. Or, you don't think there were a sh*tload of alcoholics in anti-capitalist Communist Bloc countries, too? I think addiction may be farrr more of a psychological/biological health issue - than any political one: But I guess it's always easier to blame your own personal choices on...something else? CAPITALISM CAUSES ADDICTION?!! ZOMG! Hide the chilluns!

This may appear to be another instance of this "Yin-Yang Gong": Anyone ever heard of this guy or his school/style?

So, what is this goddess contributing other than messes for you to clean up, her feral pets for you to care for and calling you profanities? Is she at least paying half the rent & bills? I'm assuming this is at least 50/50, since feminists demand equality, right?

Thank you, mjj. That means a lot coming from one of the few "veterans" like yourself who actually has a lot of personal experience treading this path. I also share your passion, so it was hard to control my enthusiasm here. As I have done a fair bit of research into this topic over the years...I wanted to suggest some informed questions that we might all find most beneficial (and not squander this great opportunity)! But, I also completely respect whatever guidelines you guys proposed, since this was an entirely voluntary & generous offer. So, thank you for allowing a little extra leeway in fluid Taoist fashion, while still honoring the letter and intent of the law here! As you said, it will be entirely up to Kostas whatever he wants to respond to - and I will be grateful for ANY questions he decides to answer, regardless. Thanks again, you 2!!! /\

^ Sorry, you never asked me to go back and edit them. And I asked a handful more as group suggestions just in case we didn't come up with 20 questions from everyone else. But looks like we're a bit over 20 now, so I will go back and simplify them, as you wish. 1) Do Yin & Yang qi attract or repel each other? (Your book seemed to contradict itself on this?) 2) Does MoPai pose any particular health risks? And if so, how much of this is due to malpractice vs detoxing? 3) How exactly does the fusion of Yin Qi and Yang Qi in Houtian neidan (like MoPai) lead to enlightenment and/or immortality? 4) Did you really see John Chang levitate nearly a foot off the carpeted hotel floor like you wrote in The Magus of Java? 5) Jim McMillan said that John once had a friendly encounter with Mike Tyson and demo'd some ability on him that Mike apparently had trouble resisting. Do you know exactly what happened in this incident? 6) Is it possible to channel energy directly from from the universe for energy work (like healing, sidddhis, etc) - or do we have to absorb it, store it & convert it to a more usable form (like an electrical transformer) first before we can use it? 7) Based upon your long study in MoPai, qigong, martial arts and life in general - do you any key tips (like referred to in The Magus of Java, p 36), precautions or wisdom you'd like to impart to us? Of these, I would be most interested in 1 & 3. Thank You /\

I dig Mike Ruppert. He's a very ballsy whistleblower who publically put the C0caine lmport Agency on blast back in 1996: Which was quietly proven 12 years later when a ClA jet crashed carrying 4 tons of white gold. Obviously, our mainstream media chose not to cover either story..SHHHH!!! Anyhow, I don't blame him for being passionate. He has a Cassandra Complex like Ron Paul, and is desperately trying to sound the alarm while the mass media band just keeps playing on... Frankly, we need a LOT MORE Mike Rupperts... -
Right, Obama passing regulation to allow the Feds to deprivatize and takeover student loans is going to create a college bubble/bust - just like the CRA created a housing bubble/bust. The fact that the Feds are going to start making massive NINJA loans to hordes of broke-ass college students - right as we are still choking in the ashes of the housing bust caused by the same type of regulation - just shows how utterly ruthless these liberal banksters are in the hopes of creating an entire future generation of indentured servants to the State... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpZtX32sKVE Although I certainly wouldn't say ALL college degrees are worthless.. However, most of the "fluffy" liberal arts ones are simply NOT worth their exorbitant cost.
