I think I am finally starting to get this Buddhist emptiness thing... Everything is empty (devoid) of any real "self" or self-identity. A "self" is just the illusion of some separate identity created by a (temporarily) fixed perspective. But once this perspective shifts (Enlightenment), then this illusion is unveiled. Like going from a firsthand to a zerohand POV. But still working on the dependent origination thing, though...lol.

Taoist Master Wang Liping Clarifications & News Report from Lao Zi Academy (http://laoziacademy.us)
gendao replied to kathyli's topic in General Discussion
Lol, I'm assuming that means ground transport from the hotel to the retreat center? I have yet to hear of a seminar price that includes airfare from anywhere in the world. I'm guessing that this package fee essentially includes everything except airfare.. -
From my current understanding integrating the Indian, neidan & TCM models: Sushumna = chong mai (in neidan). These both refer to the central channel within the core of the body. Ida & pingala = blue dragon & white tiger meridians (in neidan). They intertwine along the central channel. Although, in TCM, the chong mai is located or accessed along the front of the body by points straddling the ren mai. But the ren mai & du mai =/= chong mai. And so opening your MCO =/= opening your chong mai/awakening your kundalini. These are 2 entirely different things. Opening the MCO will at the least greatly improve your health, while awakening your kundalini is a far more powerful, life-changing, spiritual transformation.

If "Selfless Love" is the secret that Jesus taught...then why did he teach it only as a secret to his disciples? -
^ Perhaps, I don't know? I think the point is that changing your xiantian jing appears to be somewhat comparable to trying to change your genetics. Conventionally, this would currently be considered "impossible." Although for the rare Taoists who can reach the "immortal" stage...who knows? Would probably be a good question for Wang Liping's next online meet-up.
-
The conventional consensus is that you can't really increase xiantian jing - which is more or less like a battery that cannot be recharged. All you can do is increase houtian jing and qi using alternative sources instead of your "battery."

Interesting, I was just going to ask what exactly makes men attractive...and then I read this. Hmmm... So, perhaps the root chakra generates raw animal attractiveness...and the 2nd chakra refines it more directly into passionate, sexual energy? But the point being that it is the LOWER chakras that build sex appeal...not the HIGHER ones. So, you must start from the ground up. So, what's the best way to open and clear chakras?

I think for a man, the more masculine you are, the better (in terms of sexual attractiveness, at least)...as you would then appeal to the widest range of women. There probably is no such thing as a man who is "too masculine" (except perhaps for certain health concerns). The question though is how to increase your "inborn" masculinity that gets expressed through your physiology (bone structure, physique, secondary sex characteristics, etc.), constitution, behavior, alpha male status and "vibe?" Is that fully possible? PUAs generally try to mimic masculine behavior, status & vibe...but that's about as far as they can take it. And like house kitties wearing tiger suits, such "post-production" facades typically fade after a few brief encounters. Masculine physiology and "constitution" are much less malleable through any (non-meds) conventional techniques. These would be more like hardware or firmware changes. Or if not, might there also be a less linear loophole past this "natural biological limitation in sexual attractiveness" - like perhaps through accumulating a large amount of qi (as drewhempel and effilang seemed to have noticed)?

He is using a different meaning for "pre-heaven" here than its traditional TCM one. His definition implies "potential"...but ostensibly has little to actually do with qi or a state of being. In fact, he heavily downplays the role of qi in his method - which he says relies more upon optimal body mechanics instead. I wonder if his "new" method is really that different from the traditional method though? How different is "yongquan sucking the ground" really from "squeezing the ground with the balls of the feet?" It would be interesting for anyone near Skokie, Illinois to try out a workshop with them and report some firsthand feedback here... Or buy his book and give us all a review?

The Older Generation has really screwed up this world..
gendao replied to bodyoflight's topic in General Discussion
The thing is, modern pop culture has supplanted genuine culture in modernized societies. When you get together with such average laypeople today - all they talk about is pop culture beamed to them through a tube. TV shows, movies, music, video games, consumer products, etc. Our "gods" today are comic book heroes. People often define their identities now based upon their viewing & consumer habits (favorite shows or brands). These are the common touchstones and cultural references now. Which are all COMPLETELY MADE-UP FICTIONAL CHARACTERS AND STORIES OF ZERO USE TO ANY OF US IN THE REAL WORlD. So, who gives a f*** about all this made-up virtual reality??? Why should I remotely care about things that never even existed or happened? This is one of the main reasons why I got rid of my TV and stopped watching movies years ago. I realized what a complete waste of time it all was. I needed to be spending that time & energy doing things that could actually actively improve MY life (not just make others in the entertainment industry wealthier). Such as Old World cultures that were methods developed and passed down over generations specifically to aid in personal survival and well-being. Functional stuff that YOU can actually use to better YOURSELF. The real problem today is not so much consumerism - but the loss of this real USEFUL culture that evolved from actual people and events. -
Dang, 3 years later and I still doubt I can root! A few years ago, I met a small old Chinese lady who was able to effectively root after just 2 years of some Taijiquan training. I actually tested her and was not able to push her. So, I should have asked her who she trained with or what the secret was, doh!! Still a !@#^&% mystery to me!

Right, and being a huge nerd is what got him...not laid until 21. So clearly, he realized that being a nice nerd wasn't what girls were looking for today. So, he reverse-engineered behavior from guys who were successful with women to develop "PUA." Now, the fact that this technology even had to be developed - shows how bad it has gotten out there today for clueless men in the post-feminist era. Then, it wasn't until after he made these changes and gave himself a dramatic makeover that he started experiencing more success with women now. So no, Mystery is not a testament that nice nerds can get laid a lot. He is actually a testament to the opposite. But that it is also possible for guys to change from one to the other..

It may not be that likely that Laozi was a "transformation body" of one of Buddha's disciples, as they are thought to have lived around approximately the same time themselves. Buddha Laozi

Again, my intentional point here is to illustrate how racist confirmation bias results in inconsistent reasoning and double standards. This manifests in a number of ways: - Focusing only on the negative stereotypes of a certain group, while denying all their positive stereotypes or negative stereotypes of any other groups. I.e. - To say that Japanese or Asian men are sexually incompetent and deviant here is perfectly acceptable. But to similarly stereotype any other group...suddenly makes you a racist and bigot? - Accepting only stats that confirm your bias, while rejecting any that don't. I.e. - "Sexual repression & shame" in Asian culture causes "underreporting" of sex crimes there. However, this same "sexual repression & shame" would somehow not also cause underreporting of consensual sex? - Claiming "equality" selectively to fit your unequal bias. I.e. - When it comes to your own faults - you claim that, "We're all equally the same, kumbaya!" But when it comes to the perceived faults of the group that you are biased against, then this equality mantra magically no longer applies anymore. "Japanese & Muslim men really are pervier than everyone else!" "We might rape & molest, but at least we don't grope!" "Asian spouses don't really luurrve each other like we do!" (Hilarious coming from a country with a 50% divorce rate. ) *insert more stereotypes about how better you are than everyone else here* Anyhow, if you're going to be "racist," at least try to be fairly consistent about it. That is all.
-
Lol, so saying that saying that one race is more prone to child rape than another is not only bigoted, but also ignorant. But to say that Japanese are more prone to sexlessness, groping, Shota and Lolita hentai & young Thai hookers is...not? And stats that prove the former - "must be wrong." But stats or rumors that prove the latter - are perfectly valid? Look, I'm not trying to defend the Japanese per se. I'm just highlighting all the ridiculous confirmation bias and hypocrisy in this thread - and offering a broader cultural perspective.
-
Lol, in lieu of solid evidence of your own, you cannot prove that those stats are not (or are) accurate. All you can say is that you suspect they might not be that accurate or skewed*. But yet, this whole thread was STARTED by stats...and other stats were continually brought up in this thread to make other points...yet only NOW do you claim that THESE stats are not accurate? Why suddenly now? Only because now do they contradict your own confirmation bias? Which is all every guy in this thread has done so far. When the stat "supports" his pre-existing belief - he wholeheartedly accepts it. When it doesn't, then he claims that the stat must be inaccurate in some way. But never does he dare question his own underlying belief, lol. * And I would agree that most sex stats are likely skewed because it is a sensitive topic. However, I think anecdotally, those relative rankings on rape and child molestation are still likely fairly accurate - relatively-speaking. There is no DOUBT that you stand a FAR higher chance of getting raped in South Africa than Japan, for instance. NO QUESTION. That's why the anti-rape condom with teeth was invented in South Africa - out of sheer necessity there (not overinflated stats). But hey, if it makes you feel better to point out that women get groped in Japan instead of raped or molested as children here...so be it.
-
So, if groping indicates that a man is totally out of sync with women's sexuality (and his own) and is unlikely to be able to please the women he has sex with very much - then does rape indicate this to an even much higher degree? So seeing as how Black & White countries lead the world in rapes...with Asian & Muslim countries at the bottom - which cultures are thus actually "more in sync" with women's sexuality? Not to mention, why is child molestation also about 10X higher in North America than say...Taiwan? What does it say about your own sexual prowess and ability to satisfy grown women when you must rape your own defenseless children instead? ^ I'm just playing Devil's Advocate, Ninpo. You probably should be asking markern that question.
-
Yes! I've also read that Asians focus more energy in their head - resulting in higher wisdom, IQ and spiritual capability. The opposite is true for Blacks. But this would just be a slight effect, so might only partially explain the lack of wisdom & spirituality in the US? So I would say that the most likely conclusion is that the guys here are doing something wrong or the life conditions such as drugs and child molestation is messing stuff up.

Cool..

EXCELLENT point!! Self-inquiry helps us discover what it is we really seek.. It's often not powers that we actually seek...but self-esteem. And perhaps it's not self-esteem that we really seek...but...liberation from our illusive self? So, I think you are right about intent, here. Because that reveals what you are really after. And attaining any kind of mere proxy for that will still leave you ultimately unsatisfied and constantly craving more like a junkie.. That's why Buddhism states that feeding the craving never satisfies you. Only ending the craving can satisfy you. And only ending "you" can ultimately do that.

^ Good realistic points... And btw, YMAA charges fees too: REGULAR TRAINING COST AND DETAILS Seminar costs Even if they didn't make a profit - training costs the teacher lots of personal time away from work, renting or building a training facility, etc. So just to break even, they would have to charge some money. Thing is, I'll bet the just-lucky-to-be-selected Old School students who paid in sweat equity & blind obediance to masters who could NOT be bought (and would be insulted by any such an attempt)...might have wished that they could have just forked over a lump sum of cash instead, lol! The grass is always greener.. Does Phore really meditate 4 hrs/day? That's awesome. I noticed a while ago that most people on here who have actually attained anything - did train fanatically hours a day for some period before their breakthroughs.

^ Ya, I'm a bit warier now of just any New Age offerings...caveat emptor, lol. Anyhow, I'm just going to keep posting random anecdotes of natural eyesight healing as inspirations and examples here:

Buddhism teaches that ultimately, the "self" is illusive. Enlightenment is the experiencing of no self.
