I don't know what the pt was in the other thread, but the idea that came to my head upon reading this thread's title was that even people devoted to compassion & peace need to learn to deal effectively w/ "vicious dogs".

That's my understanding, based on the phrases Lao Xie wrote (requoted below). Certainly the 2012 is not the original dvd, so must be 2-for-1. I've not a clue.I don't have the water dragon dvds, yet. I just ordered today. I chose the yt video to go along with the post and I don't know if that yt water dragon form is strictly only water dragon or with some variances, additions. So (just as far as I know) the water dragon form on the dvd might not exactly match what is in the yt vid. - Trunk

Well put. You probably all recall the "Buddha boy" who was documented going for long periods w/out food or water. There's a documentary on him on youtube somewhere. -

Allowing for variance of teaching style, they are basically the same. I've seen Jenny's dvd, I've been to Max's seminar, and have seen Chris's KYMQ. My preferred presentation is KYMQ. Obviously people find their own way and their own relationships, but the details presented in KYMQ really opened up the practice for me. Ordering info for KYMQ at my DGS Reviews page.

I'm not sure that I would go anywhere. I'd get Kwan Yin Magnetic Qigong (on dvd) from Dragon Gate Sanctuary. This school has a variety of deep hand methods appropriate for healers. (related threads #1, #2) If, after working w/ DGS dvds for some time, .. after that, if you chose to and could work out visiting, then maybe so. The other school that I tend to promote is Hard Light. (Relevant thread.) That school's forte is that the Teacher, Mark Griffin, makes extremely high end transmission openly available. Studying w/ Mark is a phenomenal opportunity, but his transmissions are powerful and not for everyone, probably not all the time. If you're new to Hard Light and don't live in the LA area, I'd suggest streaming the class for a month and then perhaps travel for an intensive in-person. If you live in the LA area, show up for a few classes before you go to an intensive. - Trunk

I have "Wing Chun" starring Michele Yeoh. Also "Tai Chi Master" starring Jet Li and Michele Yeoh. Both I re-watch occasionally. I like the ones w/ the humor mixed in, the women and the men both funny and impressive martially. I think that one of the same women who plays a supporting role in Wing Chun also plays Jackie Chan's mother/aunt? in one of the Drunken Master movies ... which is stunningly classic and funny. ... geez! the sword against spear fight while both are crouched under a train!!! :o (Didn't really answer your OP, hope you don't mind )

Here it is, MultiArms' personal practice forum. This is my first time setting one of these up, still getting familiar w/ it, so please let me know if there are any difficulties. (I still gotta set up your extra security rights there, but should be done in a day or so.) - Trunk ~ later edit ~ Security rights should be in place now.

Lately I'm a nut for my rice cooker, so it's covering a lot of meals including breakfast. Lately I've made multi-grain rice in the cooker + vegies on the rc's steamer and small beans (adzuki, mung) on the stove - each enough for a number of meals and I put them in tupperware in the refrig. Then I make a bowl of miso stew in the morning (miso, seaweed, onion + whatever extras I want - lately tomato, brussel sprouts). Sometimes I will throw in a few small pieces of steak. (I buy a whole organic steak and slice it up into small pieces and put it in a ziplock in the freezer for this purpose.) When soup is ready, I pour it over the grains from the refrig. Cools the soup enough to eat. This is easy and I make enough in my soup-of-the-day pot for 2-3 bowls (not just breakfast).

Well, my understanding is a mess - but here are two strands of the speghetti (my interpretation, not necessarily classical, certainly over simplified). Seen through Chinese medicine, things can be in excess, deficient, or in balance. So (even if we stay to the two most simple intertwined concept) yin & yang can be yin/yang in balance-integration~harmony or out of it. Similarly in the psychological and alchemical, they talk about True Yin/Yang and False Yin/Yang. (What exactly 'they' mean, read up, ponder, see a Teacher.) Even digestion is (partly) seen as a succession of stages that separate "the turbid" from "the clear". Hope that helps.

I'm (very slowly) working through a Dragon Gate Sanctuary bagua dvd. It's my first venture into bagua, which is full of twisting - the whole body is twisted - all the joints including the spine twisted (not extremely), and I'm working on the first exercise that is in a twisted position, "dragon rolls over". Gentley moves the whole body (including spine) in a kind of pulsing way. (As I've mentioned elsewhere,) it's the best kidney massage exercise I've ever tried. Kind of doing incredible things that are healing my kidneys and lower back and connecting my upper and lower body. Probably I wouldn't recommend it to someone whose spine is immediately on fire right now, but as a long term exercise that addresses the spine - that exercise and I suspect bagua in general - interesting. (Sorry for the stream of consciousness paragraph; it's early.) - Keith
