  5. The Girl with "X-ray" eyes?

I saw bias on the part of the scientists. 1. 1 test of each format is a *very* small sampling. 2. I think they mentioned the odds 4 out of 7 is 1 in 50... and that's not significant? That's the "totally nothing to it" / "absolutely something" break-point??? Again, seems they should've just done more tests, geez, at least three (per format). What about saying that there's cancer in the upper third of someone's left lung? That's a pretty specific diagnosis. What about the drawing she made of a disease that she didn't know the name of, which corresponded to what is seen in a microscope? Somehow all that kind of stuff just vanished from consideration after a single 4/7 test? And then the scientists comments: - they assumed that a metal plate would be easy for her to detect... huh?!? That's quite an assumption, that they know how her ability works - if in fact she does have an ability at all. - also they explained everything away as psychological at the end. Well, that didn't sound like a proven hypothesis to me -- not even a hypothesis proposed for testing. It was purely an assumption taken as fact. Rather unscientific.

    it's called a Glinda Bubble!
  7. a spontaneous movement jungle gym

3 pics of my DIY home version (assuming a simple weight bench).
  8. a spontaneous movement jungle gym

I was browsing a gym supply store once and they had those round pads. I bought a couple and with a strap, short 2x4 and some pipe I built a leg support to attach to my weight bench at home. So I can do simple back extensions and extended situps (theoretically, I never do extended situps). It's not as wild as the video, but gives some possibility, cheap.
  9. How Do Taoists Cure Addiction?

Tough one. I'd bet there's related Chinese medical research. p.s. I would bet that it is caused by not only deficiency, but deficiency + stagnation (blockage). If someone is deficient and their channels are open then it's relatively straightfwd to refill. But if there is def plus blockage then the pathway/s for refilling are blocked and it's more dire. The desire (lack) can't be fulfilled. Just riffin'. I'm not an expert on addiction, and I'd bet it's complex.
  10. Sinew-changing the Lazy Way

That helped, thx. Been experimenting w/ it some for a few days. Improvement on your recommendation, in general, and enhanced my experience of other hand work. Agreed. The feet just aren't used to dexterity work, but they have latent ability. It's surprising how much can be accessed with the experimentation of opening~closing while lying down. Glad your situation improved. Agreed.
  11. Sinew-changing the Lazy Way

(I added numbers) I'm not sure if I'm getting it right.. is this it? When I do that, I start shaking! I think the #2 part opens/addresses psoas trauma somehow. ... am I getting right what you are describing?? (I saw a related dvd recently.) ~ edit ~ In part #1, at the full extension, I also expand my palms and soles.
  12. The Max Christensen Facts Not Fiction Thread.

(emphasis mine). Well, the former we can all agree is fact. The latter, debatable. Numerous times Chris acknowledged that the transmission from the teacher connected a student with the naga lineage. Then once people started having lizard problems the language shifted such it was always the result of what the student did. It shouldn't be any surprise that someone in a P.R. position would craft narrative to protect the image of teacher & school he is promoting. Somehow people took his words for unquestionable spiritual fact. Wake up, people: there's a P.R. person in every spiritual group. This has all been discussed before. - Trunk
  13. ~~~ TheTaoBums Moderation Team ~~~ The back & forth on these threads is out of hand. Please, everyone: You can have strong disagreements and still speak with relative civility. "Sutra" has been suspended for 7 days for the following It's simply not ok to speak like that here at TTBs. If you have a specific complaint with someone, then be specific - that's fine. But when a post adopts the tone of an all out personal attack, that's not ok. - Trunk ~~~ Mod Squad out ~~~
  14. Just dropping in to say "Hi"

    G'day, mate!
  15. Kalu Rinpoche will be coming to Los Angeles in the Fall of 2011. He is a tulku of the Tibetan Kagyu lineage. (Of course, you needn't be of that lineage to attend.) Do not mistake this young incarnation for lack of development, This is an extremely Pure and Enlightened being. To anyone who has the slightest inclination to attend, I couldn't recommend more highly. To keep up w/ developments, visit http://kalurinpochela.org/ and on facebook http://www.facebook.com/KaluRinpoche.LosAngeles#!/KaluRinpoche.LosAngeles?v=info

  17. Taoist Problem Solving Methods

I also read something, yrs ago, about Einstein or the likes sometimes getting breakthroughs via dreams. I have only sparse information re: dream work: - that one ought to keep a dream journal by your bed, as we often forget dreams and writing helps open & stabilize the conscious <~> dream connection. - that sometimes you can go to sleep with a question 'intending' to address it in dream. My (very limited) experience is that dream work takes considerable time to develop.. but pretty much every tradition (whether mystical or psychotherapeutic) considers it important territory. - Trunk

Thanks for that excellent illustrated post! As I mentioned earlier, it's my understanding that sushumna continues above the head (and below the pelvis) as indicated by various esoteric art (also ime).
