  1. Sexual vocabulary

    My point was not that "Chinese culture is perfect" but that art and beauty in popular western sexual vocabulary is lacking. Certainly tone is an important part of it, but to say that the words are not part of it also??? Unrealistic. Both tone and words are parts.

    ~~~ Mod Squad in ~~~ Good-hearted celebration expression. (Clearly not an actual attack.) No foul. I know that these things seem complicated sometimes, but they're really not. On w/ the thread (hopefully ). cheers, Trunk ~~~ Mod Squad out ~~~
    I found that, most effective if I want to be peacefully celibate, activate all 8 of the extraordinary vessels and jing submerges into pre-natal levels of nurturance, prior to externalized sensation.
    ~~~ TheTaoBums Moderation Team ~~~ I edited down S's post to the parts that crossed the line into "personal attack" territory (quote below). Whether it was actual or merely apparent attack I won't argue. 1) Spelling of 3Bob's name + prior interaction sets the tone. 2) Using assertion of another's homosexuality as an attack, emphasized by vulgar in caps. And I stress that it is how the word is used that made it vulgar. In this case it was used with the emphatic attack, and that makes it vulgar in this instance. Same thing w/ homosexuality, no problem, only in that it is used in this case as an attack. (p.s. I'm not saying that we'll never moderate due to crass language alone, only that was not my reasoning here.) See my original statement re: all this. To re-state, whether or not this was S's actual intent I won't argue. Only that it looked that way to me and I'm moderating. And, of course, both 3Bob's and Santiago's presence and participation here is appreciated. Personally I've also found this thread to be a rich, rewarding read and have really appreciated it. None of this is any comment on anyone's value in the community. Just doing the mod-job as I see it. (p.s. As to how many times certain words show up in searches here at TTBs, the real search would be: In how many posts were those words used as personal attack *and* the post was reported? Reporting works. It's a community effort. We moderators don't spend all of our time combing through threads for offenses to hammer. And, to boot, we don't even promise that the moderating will be applied exactly the same way from instance to instance. You get what you pay for, here. ) - Trunk May all beings be free from suffering and be free from the causes of suffering. May all beings have happiness and have the causes of happiness.     ~~~ TheTaoBums Moderation Team ~~~ Both 3bob and Vajrasattva have been suspended from posting on the board for 7 days. Common reason: Personal attack. Issues of sexuality can be genuinely relevant and discussed with sensitivity but this conversation took a turn towards using that topic as vulgar attack. The latter is off limits, against the rules. - Trunk ~~~ Mod Squad out ~~~

    There are clues in the yin~yang symbol, I think. Both yin and yang are always present in varying portions over time... I think that yin starts somewhere around the apex of yang, and likewise the opposite. Per that thinking, yang would subtly start around midnight... when yin is at its fullest. I think that at the apex of each there is kind of a magical openness to the neutral space. Not speaking authoratively, just thoughts. - Trunk

  13. Energy Circulation in Standing Meditation

    Several hints: 1) Do joint rotations all over before standing. 2) Do some body-weight squats ditto. 3) Do self-acupressure ditto. 4) Explore standing moving-qi-gong practices as a complement to still standing. cheers, Trunk
  14. What is your favorite Qigong System and Why?

    I've been thinking about the ? of this thread some... Obviously I bop around a lot amongst systems. What I like that is stabilizing and simple, useful and important I think, is to understand principles because the basic principles and mechanics of being human are the same whatever system you are practicing. And if you have an understanding of basic ideas of what needs to accomplished re: "organic mechanics" then it provides a lot of support for getting the most out of what you're practicing. I also think that for most people who are into this for their entire lives, likely you'll work with at least several systems over time. Don't get too hung up on choosing the absolutely best one: pick one that's good, and dig in.

  16. 100 days laying the foundation

    I find that I often feel embarrassingly childishly-down-to-basics ridiculous after big break-throughs, partly because big break-throughs tend to be around "the basics". Fact is that none of us get basics to full depth the first time through; they go deeper and deeper through the years.

  20. One of the cool things about SunDo is that they have lots of positions that you go through while doing lower tan tien (LTT) breathing. Basically you apply the SunDo breath (pictured here, which mixes essence and breath) three times (1 breath = 5 seconds inhale + 5 seconds exhale) for each posture. .. and the postures work different angles to open you in different ways. 'Balance.' (a member here at TTBs) recently referred me to this pdf w/ a set of beginning SunDo postures (from the "publications" section of the SunDo website. Interesting, cool. Another resource I've recently found that has great positions for LTT breathing is P90X's "core synergistics" exercises (examples below). I just modify them a little, hold the positions, and do LTT breathing. P90X core vid at yt, and . Many of these different positions are really simple.. obvious even, once you know about them. And helpful. Anyone else have positions etc that help with integrating LTT breathing? - Trunk
  21. Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche

    I don't have experience with him. Impressive bio!, though. Training in medicine, astrology, martial, some of the deeper Tibetan mystical practices, since an early age.
  22. Those are simplified fundamental concepts: up (toward more refined energetics) and down (toward denser). In practice there are a number of energetic 'centers' along the way, sex and heart centers are just two of them, and there's energetics inter~playing amongst all of them. For instance, certainly sexual energy often rises and nourishes the heart, also the heart energy can descend to refine the sexual center ... it's one of the meditative skills often referred to as kan & li. Most explicitly all of the eastern systems (and in some way or another all religious traditions in general) and many masters talk about this in one way or another. Hinduism, Taoism, Tibetan Buddhism... all of those pretty directly. Beyond up & down and center-inter~play, there is also what happens at each center, how the energetics refine at each center... from physical, to subtle energetics active, to more refined into the deep-centers (where each center intersects w/ the core channel) which is a key to integrating each center with The Primordial. - Trunk
