Go back and read the initial warning I made to Drew. I actually suggested that he put SFQ in his signature (which he subsequently has). It's fine for people to promote their stuff, or other people's stuff. It just has to be somewhere in the vicinity of balanced and natural. Promoting to every person who shows up in the lobby, regardless of the content of their 'hello' intro, as soon as they show up... that's just too much is all. It's a clear spam strategy. Many people link to systems, methods, etc, in the course of conversation. That's most often cool, natural, appreciated. Part of TTBs experience. Some threads are dedicated to a method or school. Some people are only interested in a particular method and so stick to those threads. Some people occasionally link to stuff in lobby posts. All good. This just had a quality of "going to excess" that was glaring. And, if we let it go it would set a precedent that anyone could spam in the lobby all they want. Not a good precedent. - Trunk

On behalf of Stigweard and the whole Tao Bums Moderation Team, if we have offended any Chinese taxi drivers, please accept our deep bow and most humble apologies!

The intent is not to stop posts like these in the lobby, it's to "dial it back". It's a matter of degree. It's about balance. Read my 1st warning above. Everyone gets several chances: 1st warning, 2nd warning, then if after that still more violation/s:a 2 week vacation (not a permanent ban). ~ edit ~ If you don't see the pattern, check out Mal's search link:

Drew, Since you have chosen to make this a public show, below is the quoted first warning that I sent you yesterday, Saturday Jan 9th at 11:42am. You received this because we counted 23 recent "lobby SFQ promo" posts of yours in response to generic 'hello' introductions. Twenty-three, recently. That's spam, man. Since I sent you the below first warning, that is - since yesterday, you posted at least 4 or 5 more "lobby SFQ promo" posts. Keep doing it and you get the 2 week vacation. Simple rules. Your choice. - Trunk

Your avatar shifted from elemental practice to bagua zhang! My xing yi teacher used to say, "Tai chi is a rubber ball, xing yi is an iron ball, and ba gua is a wire ball" (that is, always turning and spinning)

I know I haven't posted much directly in this thread, but (as the quote above indicates) I've been listening and considering and hashing out w/ the other moderators. Many good points already made. The potential confusion caused by deleted posts being one of the most important, imo. Just to be clear on this, Given the most extreme example, even if a post were several lines of pure strong-profane personal attack (yup, it happens), what would happen is that a moderator would edit out ... well, in that case, the whole text or very nearly - and would put a note in that it was edited by the moderator (& why) and would leave the post actually there. Not delete the post. We would never edit out any text of any substance. If a post were part profane, part substance, the substance stays. And any moderator's edit gets a note within the post that it occurred, and why. Meaning, there are still rules. You can't say anything and have it stick. Even if the rules are relatively very permissive - as was Sean's original intent as the foundation for the forum, and what we as moderators abide by. We're not trying to change that basic intent: then it wouldn't be TTB's. TTB's plays it's role as an open forum and it's a valuable role. "Loose as a goose." The only exception where we'd delete posts was noted by Mal: ... meaning, for example, sometimes people accidentally post 5 identical 'hello' posts in the lobby (somehow missing that their posts actually took). We'd of course delete 4 of those. Same goes for double posts of threads in the main areas. Hope we've all sorted through and brought some clarity. , Trunk

~~~ The Tao Bums Moderation Team ~~~ This is a general warning. No threats of violence, physical or otherwise. Keep the language clean, even in vigorous debate and disagreement. Refine your heart and your intention. In short, the basics: If you find yourself obsessively heated and posting, consider taking some time away from TTBs to cool off. - Trunk ~~~ Mod Squad out ~~~
My PT client just broke both of her legs in a car accident
Trunk replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
In jin-shin-jyutsu they have "fun with fingers and toes" and the drill is simply to gently hold a finger or toe for a while, then the next and so on. It's a simple simple way to get energy flowing through the channels in the arms and legs. She probably can't touch her toes (due to casts) but if she has friends/visitors who are willing they could: - Gently hold a pinky toe with each hand (well, with finger tips ). Just still, gently, for a few minutes. - Then switch to the next set of two toes for a few minutes and so on. This will help the nervous system repair, gets energy flowing. You'd be surprised what qi flow such a simple thing generates. I assume that her toes at least are showing through her casts. blessings, Trunk -
Schizandra, the Chinese herb that does "everything"
Trunk replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
In Chinese herbal medicine, herbs are categorized. Schizandra is in the category of herbs that "Stabalize and Bind (astringents)". Doesn't mean that that's all that Schiz aka wu wei zi does. -
Schizandra, the Chinese herb that does "everything"
Trunk replied to Encephalon's topic in General Discussion
Ron T. has a romantic notion of herbs. Certainly a fair amount of what he says is true, but it lacks the balance that is displayed in the more medically oriented texts. Probably a safe assumption that what is written at his site is written with the intent to sell. the english-speaking medical standard In short, for any of the astringents, you should not be taking them if you have a pathogenic influence present. The astringents seal and draw inward. Can be really good and restorative for a relatively healthy individual, but if you're sick or dealing with a toxin then it'll trap that and draw it deeper into your system. -
Just put the book on my amazon wish-list. Respect. Not sure what you are trying to convince me of, but I will at least peruse the book when I have a chance. I certainly agree that we share heritage and some physiology with reptiles. Evolution, baby! And that, in the enlightenment process, there's undoubtedly psychology to unravel along that line. Then it comes down to details of skillful means, harmonious progression. ~~~ Ok. Once again , I'm going to attempt to abstain from this thread for a while. Best of luck to everyone. cheers, Trunk
I'm aware of benevolent spiritual reptiles, "nagas" I would call them - and I've acknowledged this previously. I've never said that "all reptiles are bad" only that it's a wild mixed bag, that there are some "bad neighborhoods" adjacent to the more benevolent yet still kinda wild neighborhoods of naga loka. Some students have had very benevolent (if initially surprising) interactions with these beings. Cool. It's just that a significant number also have had really really negative experiences, usually later on down the line. All in the historical threads, all gone over before. Fascinating public relations line floated by the KL crew. Impossible to even start to verify. I'm familiar with the triune brain. I'll certainly acknowledge that we are layered beings, not just "higher mammals verging on angelic". Trunk p.s. Really, all of this has been discussed before in the very long "Kunlun follow-up poll" thread. All the different angles. But I suppose there's plenty of disk space; it can all be re-hashed the same all over again for another 25+ page thread. And later, when yet another start-up KL thread occurs, no one will want to wade through this long thread.
Quotes from some early posts of Chris's: (The KL squad stopped talking about this subject so directly after it became controversial and started using the p.r. line, "KL only exposes what is already there".) (Don't take this to imply that I think everything Chris says is %100 accurate.)
Common experience after a KL seminar, that's clear.What mechanism causes that, opinions vary. If it were entirely a connection of the students' own karma, it seems to me that we'd at least be experiencing very different types of beings. Jesus, Virgin Mary, Kuan Yin, Vajrathisorthat. But rather uniformly, those who experienced beings after the KL seminar experienced variations of reptiles. To me it just seems simple classic and obvious that a student gets introduced to the psychic space of a spiritual lineage when you receive initiation by an advanced physical teacher of that lineage. The rest of yous think what you want. Deliberate skillful navigation out of that territory early in the game. Nip it in the bud.I had a somewhat similar strategy. I immediately stopped practicing KL for some weeks, occasionally did my regular home-lineage practices, and also put my attention out in the sunny world.
You listed many worthy projects to tackle, just didn't happen to be the one that I was commenting on in my previous post. Please pardon my limited expression.
Yeah, I'm making this all up for fun because I'm secretly mad at someone.
Wow. So, are you actually positing that it's person's imagination (or "inner" demon) and that that has the capability of also adversely affecting one's house-mates with similar intensity? (.. one's kids, and non-relative adults.) I don't actually consider that a rational possibility, but for the sake of hypothetical conversation - let's say that that's what is happening. I'd still say that that's an extreme process to be handing out to the masses, and I'd expect a relatively high incidence of insanity from that school. Still sounds like a serious issue. You would really really expose a parent with small children to this???
Read the previously linked thread. This has been talked about ad nauseum before. Have fun. Beyond that make up your own mind. I've already spoke beyond my 2 cents and ahm outta here.
