  1. Kundalini

Agreed. ime, Kundalini is the connection to a more "universal" "powerful" energy. It's not just "hey, I can feel qi now". And it is not simply sexual energy engaged in spiritual practice. Speaking from experience.

  5. Ok. I thought that The Wild Wild West was a serious TV program - and was surprised some yrs later when I saw that it was camp. ... But, of course, I identified with James West. HKZOrVwM930

  8. Shen Theory revisited

I feel that I'm very much "on the edge" of this topic: I feel that this is an important topic, and I can see~experience some issues of mine along this line... but I don't feel that I have a good map of the territory, and I certainly don't have a handle on reliable methodology. And I know that Gurdieff's writings (more specifically, Ouespensky's) goes into this area... but for me personally, my knowledge is sketchy. Only this hunch feeling that this is important territory. I'm keen towards Taomeow's and Rain's contributions and think that they perhaps also have a background wealth of related personal experience. ... Or anyone else?, I'm curious of any process whereby someone has gained actual traction in this area. I know in the past some people have had experiences via Winn's presentation, but somehow I never connected to that.
  9. Some years ago (10?) I read in National Geographic that the human population was well above the carrying capacity of the earth.
  10. Shen Theory revisited

Taomeow, A few ?'s, .. Would you give a brief definition of each of the five Lesser Shens? Are they each associated with an organ? .. if not, where do they reside? Where did you get such good understanding of the Taoist framework for this topic? Reading reference? Teacher? Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I've never heard anyone talk so clearly about this using the Taoist model. Hagar, In my own current understanding I look at "lesser shens" as related to the major nerve plexuses and associated energetic centers (chakras). Each chakra inherently has a different aesthetic. For instance, the upper center/s like open space and light. Lower center/s like power, rooted acheivement, sensuality. They inherently have different aesthetics. In addition to Taomeow's explanation of "how fragmentation?" and the traumas of life, I would add that there are physical separations. Diaphragms, for example. And traumas get stored in the tissues and the tissues bind up and so less vertical integration. Also, the shens don't speak the same language, or at least not at the same tempo and vibration. The lower centers tend to just silently act, and don't have a lot of easily noticable conceptualization ..., while the upper center is just yappin' all the time. They live at different vibrations, makes going out of communication common. You're mixing up different uses of the word "Shen", pure vast spirit vs. individualized consciousnesses. We're talking mostly about the latter, but also each of the individualized needs to find it's connection with the Greater. Trunk p.s. Smile, thanks for the clearer vid. p.p.s. Another way to look at "shens" is via the different parts of the brain. I'm not so sure that the frontal lobes (abstract thought) talk to the brain stem (primal stuff) a whole lot.

  12. Reverse MCO and Little Orbit

I find this topic neatly dealt with by the Kunlun position. (As much as I wince at bringing the topic up. )
  13. Deities, Orixas, Archetypes

ime, it's the latter. ... not to try and convince anyone. It's important to track along within the integrity of your own experience, yet be open enough to experience newly.
  14. The white drop of bliss

When you activate the pure deep-center of any center then the vital winds are drawn there and refine. The basic idea is to do this with a number of centers, and allow some natural portion from each to be shared amongst, via the central channel. This is done in the context of Serene Concentration. This is often talked about specifically in terms of "mixing of the red and white drops". Then there are supportive methods, that assist us to get that to occur more consistently and in orderly way. The Tibetans tend to do through deity yoga combined with that deity's mantric syllables visualized within the deep-centers. Sound and Light refine, with deity assist. That's the ultra-short version of it. p.s. From a Taoist & Chinese medicine pt of view, bai hui (top of the head) has a relationship with hui yin (center of perineum) and it's important to be attentive towards their integration and balance.

You mean it was Heaven changing into Sameness with People?!? * wow * That's auspicious. Well, double welcome.

    11. Sameness with People Mixing in with the ordinary world, concealing illumination, assimilating to others. "If one assimilates based on truth, ... inwaredly one can thereby develop oneself, and outwardly develop others." Beautiful! Welcome. Trunk
  17. Retention and Neediness

I'd agree that those would be ideal ingredients, (how they show up in real life .. that gets complex and we probably have differing views) - clearly you got a combination that worked for you. ... and you think that - if actually applied - will work for everyone. .. ah, well .. We're on different pages, but I'm relieved that we can find some common ground and be kind to each other. sincerely, Trunk
  18. Retention and Neediness

Little1, I guess my main problem with you is that you haven't embraced discernment. Simply being complimentary to one person/school %100 of the time and reflexively impugning the character of anyone you perceive to be contrary to that ... it's just boring. It doesn't seem discerning, clarifying nor conversational to me. And all too common in political and religious circles. Clearly you've benefited from Chia-based practices w/ the aid of a teacher, and I think most of us would applaud benefit and progress - where ever it comes from. Trunk
  19. Retention and Neediness

Many good responses already... I find that it's helpful if I think of "jing gong" in three categories: 1) Healing jing gong: this is a situation where there is real disharmony present, needs healing. 2) Healthy jing gong: this is basic normal healthy relating. 3) Advanced jing gong: parts of this get presented in the esoteric sex books, if you're lucky. Just three kinds of respect, that often overlap and are sometimes at odds with each other. Am I creating a disharmony? Am I respecting my natural normal healthy sex life? Am I relaxing into the more profound resolutions? Just hearing the one thing: "retain semen", is too narrow a framework for looking at this subject. Trunk
  20. Draft; how bad is it?

"Wind" is considered an "external pernicious influence" in Chinese medicine, "wind cold" in this case. If wind pierces the exterior protective layer of qi, it often does so through the back of the neck. As wind enters further into the body the channels start closing, which shows up as stiffness. Usually this is described as the onset of illness, a "cold". Let's assume that there's no virus present for you, just the wind cold ... it's creating a weakened entry-way commonly used by genuine illness. In short, Yup. Being weakened while you sleep doesn't have great implications either. Fits with the pattern. Until you get the draft stopped, you might consider additional sleep-wear: a scarf or something warm around your neck, and maybe a cozy hat.
  21. The best Chinese dictionary

The only thing you have to apologize for is for not providing a link!!! ( ) Reference to helpful methods and products is part of TTBs' experience. It's only a moderation issue when it becomes basically spamming: the person doesn't participate in conversation - but is here only to repeatedly advertise a product. Your recommendation was most wonderful, appropriate, and appreciated! Hao-hao!
