Need advice finding a mindful path into Taoist practice and TCM
Trunk replied to Duifang's topic in General Discussion
www.alchemicaltaoism.com, sort of an archive of 'greatest hits' and conversation distillations from this cybercommunity over the the yrs. Should get you quickly up to speed. -
My experience is more of the connective tissue continuum (fascia tendon ligament bone), the centers, and acupoints~meridians (sometimes, if I've been working on them). I don't feel like a certain organ comes into play especially. ... though I know there are movement qi gongs that emphasize different organs.

In that position there is more pressure on the upper surface-length of the penis contacting the anterior surface of the vaginal wall (where the g-spot is). This also has the benefit in that the upper surface of the penis is less sensitive, so the man tends to last longer. Contrast that with the missionary position, where a man's scooping-thrust puts more pressure on the underside of his penis and the posterior surface of her vaginal wall. p.s. All this stuff has been archived over at alchemicaltaoism.com... years of community conversation highlights. re: this topic: Lin's Links and Vert.Positions.

Some positions facilitate clitoral contact, g-spot pressure, and deep penetration - all at once... this was big in the community conversation as we were discussing Dr. Lin's stuff and "3 point excitation".

Here y' go. -
I was in a very progressive meditation group a couple of decades ago, aggressive practice, high level teacher. A group-member became pregnant and the teacher had to tell her to leave the group, because the aggressive sorts of changes were not safe for the developing consciousness and body of a fetus. We had a "practices for kids" thread (I don't remember the actual title of it) and one of the conclusions was that Scott Sonnon's intuflow (link) would be a safe and helpful practice for adolescents. It helps to harmonize the fascia~joint~bone changes that are strong around that time.. and it's simple and safe. If kids did that through puberty, imo, they'd become very very strong and their foundations (physically, emotionally, general integration) would be considerably smoothed. Trunk

The methods linked on this page might help.

Rockin'!This exhibit brought me to tears when it was in the L.A. area. If you suspect that you might have even a smidgen of Buddhist karma from India through Tibet or if you're sensitive and curious many Giants on that tour

artform, Welcome. I also have dealt with a "major health project", that included more than a decade of chronic pain. The two things that spring to mind are:1. Whole Body Vibration (WBV) platforms (link) There's lots of information from the link, and on the web about them. 2. Self acupressure Trunk

Inspiring. I can relate. Closest I've come is to go for (very nerdy) humor, "Fundamental Non-Sectarianism". Welcome. Trunk

It's not. While we've talked about it like wild maniacs, we've been respectful enough to not describe the actual method. -
There's a balance between processes in general: supplementation / circulation. The healing sounds are about gently expelling excess heat, toxicity. Could be that you focused too much on that side of the process and have not done sufficient amount of things that build and concentrate, such as any form of lower tan tien breathing.

I hadn't heard that specifically, but I have heard... from M.Winn that the last time Chia saw White/One-Cloud that Chia was in his teens. Chia said in a seminar that he travelled quite a bit and studied with a number of teachers before he came to the US. It also seems to me that he is always learning and exploring from various sources: he mentiond that he was trying to get into a certain style of Thai massage but that it was very political.. rather, cliqueish. Also, he doesn't always come by his info by ethical means: he's been in a number of lawsuits re: plaigarism - an ex-instructor was living at Tao Garden when one of those came up and he got a chance to compare the original author's book to Chia's as-yet-unpublished book, "word for word, page after page" was the phrase that I remember. So, that's the info from reliable sources (imo) that I've seen/heard. Trunk

Excellent suggestion! Here is my version of that linked from the iron shirt section of my site. Click on most of the pictures and it'll take you to the originating site. Not that that precludes a similar gallery here, and there's no promise that my site will always be there. Use, borrow, steal from, that page as you like. If there are standing pictures that you want me to add to it, pm me with the link to the picture and the originating page. (Not promising I'll add everything pm'd. I'm not as egalitarian as a group page here would be.)

I used to gruel away at standing, got some good initial progress to a point, but plateau'd pretty quickly. Supplemental stuff like joint rotations (ala Sonnon), warming up more, squats (ala Ian), self-acupressure - all helped open up the flow more with less 'intensity'. Probably stuff you guys already know, but I felt saying.

Try private messaging the admin: Sean. He'd give you the bottom line on this.

I've gotten a financial "look behind the curtain" of several groups, and it's always astonishing: - how much basic expenses add up (flights, lodging, free-lecture hall, seminar hall, food, etc.) - that the group is either making next-to-nothing, or a few of the insiders are paying out-of-pocket to keep the whole thing afloat - how much effort the whole thing takes If some student really believes it should be free, then I suggest that they get rich and cover all teaching expenses so that the rest of us can have it for free. I'm so glad you're back around. Fiesty wonderful yin presence.

I think that we are basically in agreement. When I mention "subdue", I'm not talking about repression. I'm talking about harmonious cooling and going deep: restoration, the yin part of the yin~yang cycle. .. as is appropriate when you're in a yin phase. I'm not talking about doing away with healthy expression in its' natural time! I think that we can agree that there is a sexual cycle, and that we want to honor all parts of it for a healthy sex life. (I'm not talking about some narrow-minded absolute of making one point in the arc last for ever.) It's natural. And I'm not talking about some super advanced esoteric rocket standard, here. Just normal, healthy, yet still progressing in the human and spiritual. Certainly part of this is enjoying a lush active sex life in its' time. That's why we see men in the cultivation community who've spent a lot of time alone meditating, etc, at some point recognize that they need to get laid more and often put more attention towards the courtship arts ('game'). Yet, as men, we tend to be more yang. We tend to be more sexually frenetic, and are notorious for disfunctionality along that line. For those that go into sexual addiction, it takes over their lives. The incessant excessive yang depletes their yin and it leads to exhaustion of yin and collapse of yang. (That sort of disharmony was my understanding as the context of this thread.) Semen retention easily fosters a pattern of sexual addiction, as the dangers of retention are stagnation (stuck energy) and heat. Trapped heat just keeps things stirred up, keeps sexual desire chronically active. (For those few who are actually advanced enough to make good use of it, retention can be a powerfully positive addition to their spiritual path, kudos! BUT, retention is something that - if you do it wrong - you get the opposite effect: damaged vitality. So, in the spectrum of healing ~ healthy ~ advanced jing gong, here I am talking about healing and healthy.) If you look at the sexual cycle, there are parts. I think that, for most men .. that is, what is accessible and healthy to work on for most men is: 1. How "not-to-start when it's-not-the-right-time". That is, how to harmoniously subdue the energy so that you're cool & restored by it, and so that you can get on with other things. 2. How to "cool off afterwards". Resolving the residual heat and tension so that sexual activity doesn't go on for too long, excessively, and to allow the yin part of the cycle. Again to emphasize, I'm talking about 1&2 as appropriate to a natural yin time, not as repression of yang. Plenty of benefits, imo, from those. Healthy. Might not market well. Should be pre-requisite to semen retention attempts (if you choose to experiment with such). And I'm not suggesting that a person always has to be strict about when and so on, only that you should have the ability to apply as you see fit. That's my two cents. Trunk

The challenge with retention is that it creates more desire-based energy which must be refined, neutralized. Wrong move for someone who is struggling with addiction - though the surrounding supportive exercises could be helpful (such as pc exercises, lower tan tien breathing, etc.). While simple stabalization of attention, and accepting of one's sexuality, is important ... a critical piece in fact, I think that someone who is in addiction needs something mechanical (like massage, or exercise, or maybe a very effective qi gong) that actually subdues the desire. If you want a reality check on how people are struggling, go to the forums at no-porn.com (mostly men) or the forum of mothers against porn addiction. Read a few threads. imo, This is one of the serious areas that we've not gone, along with other forms of sexual and relationship trauma. imo, it's a sign that we've not yet developed really sound foundations in that we can't effectively address these types of issues. My one-spot contribution is to twiddle guanyuan ren-4. (... but it still needs to be backed up by broader training. ... and I'm still curious as to whether it works for others: guinea pigs needed. ) ~ later edit ~ I think it's too tricky to recommend these points singly; they work in concert, including lower dantian breathing and exercise.

A few notes about my previous post: - A light tapping massage, such as twiddling, won't be enough if your lower abdomen is really jammed up. There's a spectrum of massage approaches all the way from very aggressive, very physical, to gradually more subtle. Explore (link). I find twiddling to be extraordinarily effective at activating acupoints. - The acupoints that I mentioned don't work in isolation (yeah, it's complicated, I know). Distal massage (link), in general, is important. The Liver channel has a special relationship with the sexual area. - Aside from massage and esoteric stuff, there's obvious issues of exercise (link), life-style.
