Advaita Vedanta follows a similar course. Antahkaranasuddhi comes first in the form of shravana (reading/hearing the jnana), manana (contemplation on the jnana) and nidhidhyasna (constant remembrance/meditation, abiding in the I AM). Seva (service) comes next (unconditional service as a path of Karma yoga - for each individual seva is different). With these two, arises a cessation of "Do-ership" and complete dissolution of the "i" in the form of direct realization of the fact that the mind and ego arise and cease in Pure Awareness, as does everything else. And then it's back to Seva again.

So Sat Chit Ananda?

When I first experienced it, it was a mind-stopping event! As I clearly experienced the dependent origination of mind and object, as well as indra's net as an interconnected web of appearances. However, that experience led to a clear and direct realization that dependent origination too is a phenomenon that rises and ceases in empty awareness. That Empty Awareness is nothing but the Self. And that Alaya Vijnana is just an intellectual position vis-a-vis the "Self vs Non-Self" paradigm. This! Albeit I'd say that there is nothing to show that there isn't an inherent, independent existence either. It is a matter of position, which immediately puts one in duality. It is both futile as well as useful to describe it in both ways

I thanked you for bringing to my attention the fact that my "tongue" hits you hard. Would like to share how exactly it affected you? That will help me understand how to wield it more carefully next time...

Think of it this way -- if you don't accept what people give you, where does it go?

Dare I say the best Buddhists are Hindu đ ok ok just kidding (ducking as the bricks fly by)...

And Hari Om too

I agree 100%. All opposites have to exist in this as potentiality.
-
Even the subjectivity appears from emptiness. Imho, Empty doesn't mean "nothing"...it means "not a thing".

I'm open to moving it to the general forum. But the OP was intended to specifically discuss Advaita Vedanta and the related straw men homicides it has to endure

Czatgchen 101: In Czatgchen everything has to be accepted and let go, and nothing has to be integrated ever.

When starting from a dualistic view, we have to use a dualistic method. When one recognizes what it is like to abide in Pure Awareness, all methods can be discarded.

How can you say that you are right in recognizing the errors? Maybe you haven't approached this in the right way in the first place, and misunderstood what is being pointed to. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good thing to ask questions and doubt. But what you seem to be perceiving as intellectual/mental, is just a platform from where one can then dive into "direct apperception". What do you need to have any experience? Awareness. What is the difference between pure awareness and experience? There are things that one is aware of in experiences. Where do we experience? The mind. Remove the things and all that remains is pure awareness. That is the purpose of meditation.
-
+1 on not splitting hair. Also, abiding in pure presence is not a mental thing. It is most definitely a non-mental thing. The mind has to become still to abide in pure awareness/presence. That might beg the question "Who abides in Pure Awareness?". The answer is "awareness abides in pure awareness".

It seems like you would like to tell us what the "real deal" is. So why don't you?

If we went to tribal cultures, odds are that we would find more heart-oriented people. You will find in India, there are many very poor people, but they seem to live their lives in contentment. There have been studies that show that so long as there is no "other" to compare to in one's peer groups, there is actually not much angst provided one has the basic needs fulfilled. Here's an interesting article on one of the largest slums in the World - Dharavi of Mumbai, India -- http://realitytoursandtravel.com/blog/what-i-learned-in-dharavi/ I've quoted an excerpt of the document below -- So what is the relationship between Happiness and Heart? To reflect upon/add to what @karen said, the opening of the heart chakra is the first step towards experiencing our true nature, which is happiness/joy/bliss. So people with open heart chakras (and who operate from there) are more contented and happier than those who operate from the lower chakras that deal with survival, sex/procreation and ego reinforcement.

Based on what I've seen, most people don't go beyond the 3rd chakra. In that, most have blockages/issues in all three. Three most common ailments in the modern world are -- - Existential fears (1st) - Sexual issues (2nd) - Ego (3rd)

It it is a very common theme that you will find on many Buddhist fora (including searches through this particular website from circa 2007-2010 or so. Albeit is not recommended if you havenât already been fully exposed to it. It (so called differences problem) is a scourge that is best avoided Adi Shankaracharya is one of the main spiritual masters of Advaita Vedanta. Swami Vimuktananda is the translator of Sri Shankaracharya's work titled "Aparokshanubhuti". As to who reduced down to 6..that would be my handiwork, based on what i know. Feel free to expand on it if you like It is a wonderful precursor to it.

The simplest thing is to just abide in the I AM. It is very hard initially but once we understand what the âI Amâ is, it is very simple. i found that practices help in doing âantahakaranashuddhiâ. Or help develop clarity. So effort, doing and practices are needed until they are not needed.

oh hahaha Thanks for catching that...you certainly have an eye for detail For some reason I thought I had corrected it in my profile...but apparently not
-
I was reflecting on the amusement factor, thatâs all The correct statement is âtadekam evadvitiyamâ, not âtadekam na dvitiyamâ.
-
OP is original post Tadekam evadvitiyam means "That One, Ever Non-dual"

All things, after having served their purpose, get flushed down some drain. Is this the fate of this thread? Has the purpose of the OP been served?
