What is your actual understanding of tai-chi principles?
adam mizner replied to Mattimo's topic in General Discussion
hi in my view pushing down is incorrect. taiji is simply soong and yi. pushing down just makes things rise. we all have diff transmitions, each to there own. spirals are part of taiji but mostly grossly over exagerated in my view. much depends on what family you practice. here are 2 formulas i teach and follow. for form calm relaxation sinking emptiness movement for push hands calm relaxation sinking grounding rebounding metta adam -

heaven or the heavens are just other planes, higher ones if you will. when you know them directly it is simple untill then it is just a waste of thought. the heavens of the religions are real just not ultimate. if you can OBE ( not a great discription) then you can visit higher planes. the skill is related, just a few other keys to the formula. metta adam

taichi and brazilian jiujitsu
adam mizner replied to Trixter Streetcat's topic in General Discussion
haha. good answer metta adam interesting, i have found boxers easy to deal with, grapplers much harder. depends on your training. most taiji people have poor intercepting skills and so have trouble with fast strikers. a gentle pull down on the elbows of a boxers gaurd works every time for me, after that its simple. as for the comment about slow training and time perception, i have had the same thing. slow is fast, fast is slow. metta adam well said ape its dangerous stuff!! metta adam -

wow, no one can apply more than 4 ounces of pressure to you?? you must be very very good. metta adam I also learned extensive yielding exercises and no one can apply more than four ounces of pressure to me EVER, unless they move really fast. I had a master try to shove me by surprise (if anyone can piss off a master it's me) and I just casually yielded as I walked by holding two glasses of pop. I didn't spill my drinks on him nor did I miss a step, I just easily yielded when the pressure got to four ounces and kept right on walking by, and he lost face even more, poor old feller. I can't yield fast enough to dodge a lightning fast punch, but there is no way in hell that some lumbering lumox who is trying to tackle me can get a hold of me OR, if I let him touch me it will be because I just exploded one of his kidneys or vertebrea as he comes in low. Remember the post I wrote, where I did a one inch punch against the door jamb of a big old three story wood school building and the building resounded with a boom? I'm guessing that the BJJ guy who threw you did so when you tried to punch him, is that correct? For some reason you think I haven't been taken down, why is that? I didn't just learn the form, I've learned internal art combat methods from someone who was Bruce lee's equal and his buddy, but who then far surpassed what Bruce could do. Now I'm learning from that guy's senior student. I've been taken down a lot but it's always when I try to punch someone, which is the way it's supposed to work in tai chi, but if you know how tai chi works you will know that there are ways to not allow another to apply force, and that's a FACT. I'm not saying I'm there, but a couple of my teachers are. So that's what happens when you think I've only been doing tai chi for a few years, lots of bragging Just keep in mind, if you want to know what is possible in the arts, I may have seen it =) -
one needs a physical teacher, it is a must. when you can clearly commune with higher beings then the physical teacher is not needed but still very helpfull. metta adam

hi i can share much with you on the topic of water magic and lunar energy work next time we catch up. just remember that the magnetic fluid affects the emotional attachments so its a bad idea without equanimity. metta adam

concentration and intent is one part of the formula, but go concentrate and intend some magic to happen , it will not. note, i did not listen to the talk. metta adam

as i said the advice was for my friends. those i know or my students. metta adam not answering for Mak... calling on deities/entities or controling astral and mental forces with ones own skill is the 2 sides of magic. the later higher than the former. in my view a true magician is one who understands the universal laws and can use them. spells and talismans and rituals are what we call sorcery (samantics) , a true magican can make talismans and the like at his will and in any form he wishes. i used to teach magic more openly, now only after years of sila/virtue training. live and learn metta adam

franz bardons system is exellent and it is work. for those interested a good teacher will make it acheivable. it was my training in thbis system that has enabled me penatrate other systems. metta adam for my friends on the list, i recomend that you stay away from crowleys work. for those of you that can see, take all look at where he is now... metta adam

weather control comes from the mastery of the air element and or control over the air elemental beings. metta adam

correct i dont see why there is so much life and death talk, real fighting is this and that. fighting is foolish. when we have to do it then do it. i have found it easy to control people like playing with a child, eye gouging and anger or not. when you can let go of fear then it is not such a big deal. metta adam

hi durkhrod it seems to me that vipassana is not a method as much as a result. if you refer to the pali cannon you will see that the Buddha always says go practice jhana not go practice vipassana. a mind made powerful by the practice of jhana reflecting with discernment has insight or vipassana as the result, this vipassana leads to unbinding. of course this is the theravada view, modern schools have other ideas metta adam

hi i practice and teach full time, that is really all i do, and rest. teaching is a part of practice. here is the thing, i cannot sit in samadhi all day, so when not sitting i find taiji and chi gong a great way to keep practicing. so it is a practicle thing for me. i have also found taiji and chi gong a great way to practice and test ones skills developed in magical/meditative work. also teaching taiji means i dont have to charge to teach Dhamma. if any ego arises in the form of desire to attain then i let go of what i can and channel the rest into my taiji keeping it out of my work for enlightenment. all this said i dont seperate, all my training has the same goal, the deathless. metta adam

hi i dont think that is exactly it... i would even say that that is the cause of samsara. metta adam p.s i enjoy your posts

hi reiki is a universal healing energy that is channeled from the irion constelation, each symbol is transmitted by the master into the corresponding body, physical, astral, mental and etheric. i have found that practicing is even better than receiving and it leaves you in a clear state of equanimity. i dont practice anymore and most so called masters are just bums, but a well trained master can work well with the energies. to embed the symbols into the bodies of a student you need some good mental and energetic abilities which many dont have. is a bit like most subjects in that many do it but few are doing it. metta adam

not sure exactly what you mean by ghosts, but i beg to differ about not being able to appear in sunlight. as for imortality its simple, dont be born, but that is outside of daoism as far as i know. the daoist imortal idea is more like a god, heavenly being or mergence with a formless sphere (wuji). it is poss to extend the physical life for a very long long time but why you would want to i dont know. metta adam

you got it.

you have no idea what i know, it seems to me you arnt getting the message from lu i ming but just reading the fancy terms. i have no need or desire to convert people to Buddhism, a question was asked and i answered it. my answers and view come from direct experience and reralization this is what i am saying when i say i dont know much about philosophy as all philosophy is in the realm of thoughts. how you can quote lu i ming and in the same post use terms like buddhist and taoist as a seperation tool amuses me. metta adam hi i have no problem with dan tien work, have done lots of it. its all good. happy to share ideas. metta adam
