  1. The Chicken or the Egg?

@_@ Quite frankly, I'm very impressed, the names that everyone is using here are all very long and have a lot of letters and I'd be misspelling them every which way, so props to you guys for spelling It seems that these past couple of posts have come down to "This is the Buddhist way, that is the Hindu interpretation" "well the Hindu way is right to begin with" "no not really because see...." (which is probably the cause of the debate in the first place ) In which case it's more of a dogmatic thing and I don't think anyone is going to convince anyone by using that method If you find the Buddhist interpretation to your liking, or the Hindu interpretation, that's a personal thing and you won't be winning any arguments with it. Anyway, keep going if you want, keep up the good spelling!
  2. "GIRI" article

Don't forget the giri chocolates that you're supposed to give people during the Valentine's Day holidays (I wonder if Hatsumi gets a lot of giri chocolate?) And good article
  3. Reptilians connected to this forum!

I agree with all of this as well
  4. Beliefs and Intent

From the karma perspective as I understand it, then I guess, yeah, she did something, maybe in this life or a past life, and as part of that she is now a victim. Now, a lot of people use that as an excuse to turn a blind eye, or to accept (and that goes for other bad parts of society, class systems, slavery, etc). Which is NOT cool. That's not the fault of karma though, it's a fault of those people. It doesn't mean that we shouldn't feel compassion for them, just because we think they brought it on themselves. When a small kid touches a hot stove, do we say "serves you right stupid!" or do we go "aww, there there"? This also doesn't mean that she can't use the Wyrd philosophy either. There are rape victims that grow up hating men. But there are rape victims that go and help other abused women deal with their problems, help with subsequent medical expenses, etc etc. In which case they'd still be affected by what happened, but they can choose what direction they go (though for the murder part of the example..... well they can't do that if they were murdered, others can, but that's a nasty example anyway ) Anyway, this is one of those cases in which the thought of karma doesn't sit well with me, which is why I don't explicitly subscribe to the idea of karma. But that's just how I understand it.
  5. Beliefs and Intent

But (in my understanding), the difference between that and karma is that with karma there IS NO set pattern of events. It's not, "you are going to move forward, you can move slowly, quickly, or at an angle, but you are moving forward." It's like, "you will move in a direction based on where you decide to go." Which I guess gives rise to the whole "nothing exists", because it doesn't exist until you MAKE it exist. You move forward, and as a result backwards, left, right, angles, fast, slow, etc are created (actually the more I think about it the more complex a world becomes just by moving..... maybe they're on to something ) From my understanding no- but it's because you made it. If you stab yourself, you WILL bleed. Does that mean bleeding is fate? No, it means DON'T STAB YOURSELF. But see with Wyrd, you bleeding is inevitable. Now are you going to run around screaming, make the wound worse and bleed faster, then bleed to death, or are you going to know to put pressure on the wound, find bandages, maybe make a tourniquet, and survive? It's a very subtle thing and I hope I'm being clear If not sorry
  6. Beliefs and Intent

Not that I know of. I mean, didn't people like Jesus hang around with the reject of society? I know that in subsequent Bible portrayals and paintings everyone is bright and shiny, but when you really think about it, poor and destitute usually are the precedents for things like crime and violence. You'd think Jesus would have come across a lot of these people, but he turned out okay Anyway... Not wanting to put words in mikaelz mouth, I'll just say what I know from my understanding: In comparison to what you brought up with Wyrd, with karma, there are no ocean winds. So with Wyrd, the universe is going in one certain direction, so, let's say you are meant to go to a party next week. Using your own wits and planning you can sail across the wind and arrive in a limo, be the life at the party, and be in the newspaper social section the following week. Or you can just go with whatever happens, you arrive unshaven, without having showered, in dirty clothes, and everyone rejects you. Now, with the karmic view, you do something, and as a result of you doing that, you can go to that party as a success, you can go to the party as a failure, you can not go to the party at all, you can go somewhere else, someone else can come to you, etc etc etc. It's based on YOU, within YOU, there is no external party to begin with, you MAKE the party via your actions. (so with that you can figure your way around the children being victims of crime/disease, but those are heavy subjects and I'd rather talk about parties.... yes I know I'm running away from the problem ) I'm not saying that I believe either one completely. I've entertained the notions of both of them seriously for a long time. As for right now, I accept both as true, but knowing both can be false, sort of shrug because I don't know right now, and I move along with my life. In all honesty I have no idea I vaguely recall hearing that before, but it was at the start of a long and complicated post that I didn't feel like reading. Maybe Wyrd has blown me to this thread ill equipped. Maybe I have made this thread out of my negligence. Either way I'm here and you have an unanswered question Sorry.
  7. Golden Dragon - Kunlun or other arts?

I've noticed this often with really young kids. Even if you watch "Funniest Home Videos" or other similar video tv shows, you come across videos of kids doing something, but when they fall, or if something breaks, they IMMEDIATELY turn their head to the camera (the adult viewing.... it's actually kinda freaky how fast they turn, and their eyes get really big). They just WAIT for a response. If the parent goes "ooooh, are you hurt?" they cry, if the parents starts laughing, they laugh. It's actually kind of funny I've made up my mind that if it ever happens to me, I'm gonna stare right back at the kid until he does something himself (I hope I have the presence of mind to actually do that when it happens) As for Yoda, I do recall reading threads that were like "hey even kids know kunlun" and everyone was like "yeah, root practice ftw". Then it was like "alien attacks from beyond!!!" "dinosaurs in the bedroom!" As others have said, you can take any given situation and spin it both ways. On the pro side it could be evidence that it IS a root/universal system, that even "non initiated" people can come in contact with these "beings" and have similar experiences to those who've been to seminars (but don't tell this to anyone, or people will quit paying money to go to seminars ) On the con side you've got kids that could potentially be assaulted by trans dimensional entities with who-know's-what intentions (and most people want to protect their kids from this!) As for "proof" that this happened, we just gotta take people at their word, it's the internet, and I'm not one of those people to say "vid or it didn't happen." I know full well the person could be lying, but what am I gonna do? So I operate under the assumption that they are telling the truth with the huge caveat that I know they could be lying (my life is a paradox ) As for organizations, down playing risks, up playing positives.... it happens. One of the reasons why a board like this is great. One of the first things I do when looking at product reviews online is I read the negative reviews. Obviously the people who gave something a 5 star rating loved it. I want to know why people gave it a 1 star. Sometimes you get tons of people give something a 1 star review because they thought it would be something else. "I got this book on anatomy but all it is is lengthy discussions about the human body." WELL DUH! Other people are like, "I couldn't comprehend the language." Maybe they aren't used to heavily academic books. Then others are like, "as a member of the medical community for 15 years and after authoring several books on the subject myself, I find this book below par, for a better introduction to anatomy see the book by......" So hearing everyone say bad stuff about kunlun (and other practices and teachers) is great. It's nice to see behind the curtain, especially when people are shrouded by the curtain of anonymity called the internet and are free to say whatever they want (which gives positive reviews even more luster because they aren't being forced/paid to say it.... or are they? ) And it's great to hear negative reviews, the cons, all that other good stuff. And there have been some very good posts on the pro kunlun side. Mantra has a lot of good posts from the past (keeping in mind the PR side of it all), then recently -O- has come here with some VERY insightful posts, some of the most quality posts that I've ever seen. Winpro also gives good posts (before they are deleted....) And even Satori has given some good insights. And, yes, sometimes excessive fear/paranoia CAN blow certain things out of the water. Maybe a certain amount of downplaying is needed. I mean do you really need to tell someone who's afraid of flying and who is sitting on an airplane going across an ocean all the possible ways in which the airplane can crash, burn, explode, crush, and painfully kill every single passenger on the plane while citing all the instances of it happening and providing news clippings and video footage? Sometimes brutal honesty ISN'T called for. And sometimes it is

  9. Reptilians connected to this forum!

Not quite sure what to make out of the intentions for this thread. Satori, I've read a lot of your posts from the other threads, at first I really liked your answers, but then you started acting in a not very cool manner. This thread you've started IMHO isn't really that cool. Coming from some place else, or maybe from someONE else, it could be pretty funny, especially given the reptile connection with this forum.... but coming from you at this time..... I dunno, it doesn't seem that funny. It seems, at its best best, immature. If you have issues with other people, you could at least try and keep it within the threads concerning them. I feel it's incredibly unnecessary to start a separate thread about an issue that has no need to be made. Honestly, if it weren't for other people in this thread, I wouldn't be making this post. As much as I like this board, I have to force myself to post, and there are times when I have to force myself to come here at all but it's still great, a lot of great people here, and a lot of good insights gained from their help. Anyway. I cannot tell you how painful that was, and still is (it's going on in the background right now.....) Interesting questions, and I ask myself that about ghosts, mostly. I'm open to the possibility and believe the accounts that others have said, but at the same time I don't, and probably won't, fully believe it until I see it. Excellent post
  10. Beliefs and Intent

This I think is the best way to go. I've read a lot about a lot of philosophies, I've had a lot of philosophies in my life, and may have a lot more to go. You think about karma, and whether you do things that are good and bad, and if you will be punished for them. You think about kids that are victims of violent crimes, people who live with debilitating conditions for their entire lives. Did they do something in a past life? Or are we just using that as an excuse so we don't have to feel bad, or so we don't have to face the reality of the world? Is it all just random chance? Is there no God that cares, no universal judgment. Should we all just do what we want because there are no consequences? When we die do we just cease to exist? Do we ever have to face judgment for what we've done? When I'm on my death bed will I look back on my life and be fine? Will I be afraid of judgment? Be afraid of the abyss? So many opposing views, contradictions. Believe one thing and it seems to exclude the others. For me, personally, I look at all of them and see that they all have merit. So, maybe they're all true. Maybe the real truth is some complex compilation of them. Maybe the real truth is more simple than that. Maybe I'll never know, maybe the real truth is staring in my face. So I think all fo that at once, then I move on and keep living.
  11. The Chicken or the Egg?

Now, is the freezer on top of the refrigerator? Is it side by side? Below? Is the freezer a separate unit from the fridge? Each answer only leads to new questions
  12. The Chicken or the Egg?

Guys, you're not asking the right questions.... It's not what came first... It's what you have with you at the time, which determines what you eat. Will you eat an omelet? Or will you eat a chicken sandwich? To that extent, what about a lazy student on summer break who sleeps in 'till lunchtime, he eats the chicken sandwich first, then has eggs for dinner, even though for everyone else they have eggs for breakfast (hence it comes first for them), followed by the chicken. What your next meal is going to be is a bit more practical than some abstract discussion about whether or not there's a chicken in front of you to begin with
  13. Chinese Astrology

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if any of you guys (or gals) know of any good books on Chinese astrology? I don't know much about the subject, so anything that gives a good overview of the topic would be good. But I do like to read and I don't mind long complicated language, so any book for any type of person is welcome
  14. Kunlun follow up poll

Nice! The kunlun threads on this board really can get long.
  15. Remote viewing

I got a couple books on remote viewing, one of them by someone who apparently was attached to the Stargate Project. The method is sound and scientific. In fact, the progressive stages are actually well thought out, for example level 1 remote viewers would give general info, like, "tall and narrow", then as they'd get better they'd give a height estimate, then number of floors, then number of people in the building at any given time, etc etc, revealing, say, the location of some skyscraper that could be of value to intelligence. The book actually heavily warns AGAINST leaving info for people, and especially against "front loading" subjects, meaning that a subject should have as LITTLE info as possible about the target, because that could skew the results and lead them to give info they "think" rather than they "know" via remote viewing. So it's somewhat sad to hear that one of the reasons that it was scrapped was because of poor protocol. In the end though, I think this generally sums it up best: You can't have the fruit without the tree.
  16. How to handle emptiness?

Sounds like the hypnagogic stage of sleep (well it's really before sleep sets in), the wiki here As for who can trust and what advice is for you..... generally you know it when you hear it. There are plenty of respectable people here on this forum who have some level of accomplishment (and there are others that have less accomplishment), and all of them give different advice. When I at least ask a question, even if it's someone who's opinion I respect, I know when their advice doesn't really fit my situation. But after a while I see some advice that really helps me and that I feel really connects with my situation. It's just a feeling you get and you'll know it when you see it. At least in my experience..... As for what to do with emptiness: uh.... nothing?
  17. Solomon

Yeah, solomon, the guy who had all the demons in the jars and controlled them with special symbols which is where the greater and lesser keys of solomon are supposed to come from though, as has been stated, we don't know if he actually existed and if he actually used that stuff or if someone else during the middle ages just wrote it up and slapped his name on it thereby founding a lot of western magick and occultism.... hmm..... That solomon?
  18. Fountain of youth on Easter island ;)

If the fountain of youth was on easter island, then how come the ancient peoples living there died out? Jokes aside, neat find.
  19. Is the opposite sex a hindrance?

Most of what I've read and most of whom I've heard give speeches/lecture have said that having a woman in your life is great and can be beneficial to all parties.
  20. what books to recomend a beginner?

Relaxing Into Your Being by Bruce Kumar Frantzis.
  21. retention makes you gay

I think I liked it better when we were sharing pictures of lesbians.....
  22. Karma Acceleration

So every once in a while I've heard someone talking about karma acceleration, that as you cultivate and start to do stuff, more and more bad things start to happen to you all at one time, because you are going through that and clearing it out as you move on to the next level. Now I don't know much about it, because I haven't heard it brought up in the practices that I do (though I'm not that advanced I must say, so maybe I just haven't learned about it yet). So could you guys explain it? Is it even true? How does it work? Thanks.
  23. Karma Acceleration

Not looking for a lama, just anyone that can give insight (there's not even a lama anywhere near me anyway, that's why we have the internet ) Hmm, interesting.... And slightly sucky
  24. Pain after Taoist seminal retention

My suggestion: get it out in the natural way, get it all out, so much until you're dry and you can't possibly release anymore no matter what you or anyone else does. Then drop the sexual practice and focus on other methods of relaxing the body and the mind. See how you feel. Find a teacher and don't even think about touching the sexual practices. Then, after a while, ask your teacher about sexual practices or find another teacher who knows them, and knows how to do them safely, if you really want to learn them.
  25. Hmm, that's very interesting, and very true Even though they're there to support you, family is usually the first one to tell you to try something else
