Haha! You're awesome brother. You know I'm poking a little fun at you to make a minor point. Be well and content,
  2. Best Black Teas?

I used to drink lightly fermented wulong. Now I am liking Indian Tea (made with soy milk). Here's the recipe: http://beancurdturtle.spaces.live.com/blog...0!286.entry
  3. shiny shaved heads

My silly Buddhist friend. Your writing exposes the dualism of your Buddhist teaching. This Daoist with a close shorn head might say, "Buddhists are attached to the symbolism of a shaved head to prove their detachment from being human." But of course I would only be partially correct, be engaging in a sweeping generalization, and defining Buddhism based on my Philosophical Daoist perspective - all of which are perhaps a bit misleading. This Daoist has short hair because it simplifies life - it symbolizes nothing. By the way. Your summary of the factual, style choice symbolism of the reasons for shorn and un-shorn hair is well appreciated. I always enjoy your knowledge and perspectives.
  4. The Term Enlightenment

So he said. Using words. Bit of an oxymoron isn't it? Yet Zhuāng Zǐ(庄子) wouldn't be nearly as fun without this dichotomy. Peace, http://beancurdturtle.spaces.live.com/blog...!2031.entry
  5. Taoism as a religion

"high level?" alchemy is dancing with the expression of the tao seems to me, there is something with more substance than the expression doncha think?
  6. Taoism as a religion

Are you serious? Any faith that says "Jesus wouldn't teach you if you ate meat." has got to be full of cr@p. The dude was all about acceptance and non-judgment (when at his best). The assertion the he wouldn't teach someone, for any reason, is absurdity. Religious (belief, practice, dogma, ritual) chauvinism is everywhere. In Christianity, Islam, Taoism & etc. If you even smell it from a teacher - run for the hills - The teacher is full of cr@p.
  7. Taoism as a religion

Trouble is, "Taoism" has as many flavors as Christianity. Except many of the flavors have very different views of death and "the afterlife." My answer? It's irrelevant. You are here now - you will be there then. Your objective is to do the here and now correctly. So life after death is irrelevant.

The extraordinary diversity of female orgasm escapes a lot of guys. Maybe because they are so focused on what, how, where, if, when, and etc. of their own. Reminds me of an incredible woman - she should have been named "rain." After an hour of experiencing multiple different kinds of orgasms the bed would be soaked, and in places flooded, with her ejaculate. Then she would literally pass out into a deep sleep. Leaving me to hunt for a dry spot to curl up on and join her in dreaming. Ain't that just like a woman.
  9. confessions

    yup
  10. 3 stages of illusion

Stage 3 sounds like Stage 2 on steroids. Seems the opposite of contentment. I'll try the fourth stage - no illusion. no results, no process no practice, no power no hubris, no humility no thoughts, no anger steady, knowing, being. Peace,
  11. Oh! The third path; wu-wei, philosophical taoism, or ancient taoism. The path that snuck up and chose me. Or perhaps, they are equally and impartially entranced by everything.
  12. Aiyah! I can see why. Listen friend. All the advice is well intentioned. Yet, it all seems to have missed the obvious. Begin at - well... the beginning. Read several translations of the Dao de Jing. Go here: http://home.pages.at/onkellotus/Menu/VertikalVergleich.html 1. On the left side at the top, select "Merel 2" from "other languages." I say Merel because it is well aligned for a Western mind not familiar with Taoist philosophy - and the alignment is neutral for the most part. 2. Read it. Yes, read all of it. It's just 81 short verses. 3. Select another English translation on the top right side. Now read it, and compare it to Merel. 4. Select another English translation. Read at least 5 translations. Why 5? Because it will give you a foundation to establish a good BS barometer when you find an interesting "teacher." And don't come back here until you've read 5. 5. When you find an interesting "teacher" or "practice" - read chapter 38. Does the teacher or practice espouse any ritual? Does the "teacher" or "practice" require any belief? If yes - move on. 6. When you are confused, choose a chapter at random and read it. If still confused, choose another - and repeat until you are no longer confused, or distracted from your original confusion by something new you didn't see last time you read the chapter. Above all... enjoy the learning. Now someone might argue that the Dao de Jing is not the beginning. Don't listen to anyone who presents an argument with intention, including me. Thoughts (arguments included) are not reality. Peace,
  13. Gung Fu Tea

Oh yeah! Had some great tea at tea houses in Jiufen in Taiwan, Beijing in China, and Daniel's place in Irvine. Here's a really good site for information if you can't go to Taiwan or China: http://chineseteas101.com/ About "Gong Fu Cha": http://chineseteas101.com/kungfu.htm
  14. An Observation

I wasn't including myself. When one is enlightened - one has no preconception of what one is full of. But it could be that I'm the one full of crap - and y'all are perfectly normal. Or maybe I was just being silly. That's probably it.
  15. An Observation

I've decided that you are all full of crap! Which led me to a profound understanding: When one is full of crap, one has been well fed. Lot's of interesting and eclectic stuff to feed the brain with here. Yet, some diets are more healthy than others. We all have our own tastes. Eat up! Love you all,
  16. Alan Watts - Teachings and limitations of a man

Well, of course. Dao de Jing - Chapter 71 (Merel interpolation) Who recognizes his limitations is healthy; Who ignores his limitations is sick. The sage recognizes this sickness as a limitation. And so becomes immune. Know what you are - not what it might be fascinating to be.
  17. I miss the dude. We've noted that Cam. Yet you wouldn't be a proper Cam if you were not a bit eccentric. Peace,
  18. One would be amused if one was not aware that one is irrelevant. Yet in being aware of aforementioned irrelevance, has not one manifested the relevance of one to one's awareness? One has a headache. Profundity is overrated. I prefer pancakes.
  19. one is enlightened when one becomes aware that one is irrelevant.
  20. Then all you need to do is buy the "Superpower Chi Balls" in the Google ads at the top of the page.
  21. the Nature of Consciousness

Read it. Watts is almost always great stuff. I've read a whole bunch of it - mostly 25 years ago. If you want the a good translation of the Dao de Jing ( good = neutral interpretation, approachable by the "western mindset" ) check out Merel's interpolation. http://www.terebess.hu/english/tao/merel.html
  22. Taoist Levitation

"the future...beholds levitation" is something that probably occupied many human minds since it first saw a bird fly. Yet, we humans are not all floating around in the clouds 10,000 some years later. I accept the fact that I am human, and that a desire to levitate is a desire to be other than human. desire = discontent = friction Peace,
  23. Do you see what I see?

Welcome! I would recommend stopping cannabis, alocohol, or anything that challenges your ability to pecieve without filters. After all, the best way to progress on this path you are interested in, is to learn to remove the filters. So physically inflicting a chemical filter is counterproductive. Peace,
