Experience, Realization, View, Practice and Fruition
hagar replied to xabir2005's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Guys You both seem to report having attained an abiding, non-dual awareness. So this is basically self-realized consciousness, having both affirmed and transcended oneness and diffrentiation, arguing with itself. Then from whom does this pissing contest originate? I know, I know. I went over the line. Apologies. Edit; or do I say "I crossed the line"? h -
Interesting to hear your feedback. I've felt deep changes related to the heart the last couple of months, yet I hope no physical issues. What I do feel is that the "earth changes" that everybody is talking about really is more energetic recallibrations that go past our conscious conceptions of them. But I'm speculating. It felt like it was building up, and how the dam's have burst and now it comes crashing. From what I understood from my teacher, the changes happening now related to the deep information in the cosmic chi will go on for some time. Will see. h

Listen to Cam. I second taking a tour of Adyashanti's material. Muting or controlling thoughts or feelings is the opposite of letting go. To be with what you are experiencing without trying to manipulate anything is closer to what letting go is. h

I know. Actually, I borrowed the example from the TTC. A bit tounge-in-cheek. Fifty-five He who is filled with Virtue is like a newborn child. Wasps and serpents will not sting him; Wild beasts will not pounce upon him; He will not be attacked by birds of prey. His bones are soft, his muscles weak, But his grip is firm. He has not experienced the union of man and woman, but is whole. His manhood is strong. He screams all day without becoming hoarse. This is perfect harmony. Knowing harmony is constancy. Knowing constancy is enlightenment. Actually, in some of the more direct translations, "manhood" is not related to gender. It is an indication of the fullness of Yang. h

You said it better with less words.

You do not need to have motivation. Only willingness. It takes almost no effort at all. Just do not give yourself any choice. Then allow whatever happen to happen. Most people stop doing things they enjoy when they run into problems. If you let go of your reaction to problems you're getting somewhere. The guy who made all the hits for the pop group ABBA had a good approach. He never pumped himself up to make all the music that is now classics. He wasn't a genius and not particularly talented. He just had a routine. Every day he sat infront of the piano. Sometimes something happened, sometimes not. But he sat there every day. Please don't follow any advice. It will fade to trivialities very soon. Including my own. You allready know what you want, really. See what happens if you don't try to answer the question for a while but let it linger. It will be your greatest teacher. It seems like you're allready on the path. It teaches you by itself. h

I think you're misunderstanding both Cameron and the rest of the bunch here. Letting go does not mean giving up. It means giving up your misconceptions of life. Doing something out of compensation, thinking that reaching some goal or attaining some objective is going to solve anything is what people are getting at basically. Does that mean resignation? On the contrary. You say "Check out the way this whole world appeared"; That's a great starting point. The universe, the galaxies, stars, the earth with it's mindboggling complexity was created without a thought, without any agenda. It created a reality that scientists, philosophers and the rest of humanity has tried to comprehend for millenia. No volition anywhere. So letting go means something completely different. And there's nothing wrong in having goals. It's just not going to solve anything. Goals are great. And it usually is good to attain some of them to realize what happens when you reach them. The happiness gained is not from the goal itself. If that would be true, then you'd get the girl, the car or the million dollars, and you'd be happy forever. But unfortunately that's not the case. The feeling fades. But it's a great way to realize that the happiness is derived from within: For a certain amount of time the feeling of lack ceases. When we experience a temporary lack of wanting, the basic nature of our mind emerges, which is joy and contentment. So letting go of wanting will ultimately make you happy. Then all "doing" is just what you do. There is nothing wrong in having a strong healthy body. But what does a strong and healthy body look like? Energetically, an infant is much stronger than a bodybuilder, and is much more able to adapt to change, regenerate and adapt. It is soft, weak and open. Yet it can scream the whole day without being tired. True strength comes from the source of energy. Not it's outward manifestation. If you want infinate energy, become supple, empty and flexible. What gives you energy is not muscle, but the cosmic energy. Cultivate it through softness, stillness and subtle circulation. But this you probably know. What has value without any external motivation? Find that and you are on the right track. Watching "Groundhog Day" with Bill Murray would probably be a good way to start.

Sorry to hear your story. It seems like you are basically suffering from loneliness, and most of what you describe are means to an end towards gaining recognition and companionship. Using your body or "success" or anything outside of yourself in time or space to gain what you long for will only lead to more loneliness. The feeling of self worth and companionship are states that basically are available in the here and now. And things are never, ever perfect out there, nor in "your life". Nomatter how we fail, we were allready perfect at the time of our birth. Be what you desire most. Talk to people with the intention to help and listen to them. Offer your support. Hear what they say, what they care for and what bothers them. Care for others without wanting anything. Do things as an end in themselves not as a means. Then things may start to change. If I look at people whom I respect and like, they all embody these qualities and act accordingly. With no intetion. And maybe drop the shrooms. h

According to peer-reviewed scientific studies cold showers and baths increases metabolism, raises testosterone, cleanses the lymphatic system and facilitates higher bone density. I do it in, yet it's winter now so I just dress lightly. h

There's so many real-life examples in the qigong-world: http://www.kewego.com/video/iLyROoaf2eq7.html

The mystery, Yes. Much more important than the numbers. Synchronicity...Does it really exist outside our need for it to exist. I have not yet looked into chaos theory and fuzzy logic, but this baffles my mind. Thelerner: You are probably right. h

To be honest I find the whole idea of spiritual bypassing to be a non-issue. Everybody does bypassing. The whole spiritual impulse or drive towards contemplation or cultivation is by definition a form of spiritual bypassing. The idea that we must start where we are and work through our tactile and immediate emotional and life-issues instead of trying to go beyond them is utopian. If we start with what we have to deal with, and work "through" our life situation and our emotions, it will never end. All humans are in need of some sort of reassurance that there is a way out, and the only way to do so is to experientially feel it. This is bypassing per se. Only later may we come back from our transcendent experience, and actually start working on ourselves, knowing there is a way to some freedom and ease. h

Update on reoccuring numbers: Its getting pretty eerie. No it's probably up to about 50% of every clock or watch I look at, or my cell; numbers like 11:11. 14:14. etc, etc. It is beyond mere chance, and the occurances are by any metrics or method significant. I am deeply reluctant to admit so, being a sceptic at heart. But the last month I've been looking at double digit numbers in pairs every day all the time. Its a mystery h

Could this have a negative effect on my health?
hagar replied to Umezuke's topic in General Discussion
All you describe are commons symptoms of spontaneous qi working out blockages and weakness in the body/energetic system. Don't force it, nor shut it down, but just observe. You have full control if you choose to stop it. Its all part of the process. It seems like you have some degree of ungroundedness, or too much energy or attention in your mind/head. This is the usual reason for spinning and dizzy sensations. Focus on the Dan Tian and lower torso and legs. Practicing in lighted rooms are beneficial in the beginning. Dark seems to intensify certain processes. Remember to keep practices abit shorter than you'd like to in the beginning to avoid "hanging on" to sensations that intensify over time. h -
Food question: Are there any good suggestions to affordable, easy-access foods or herbs that a) build/strengthen yang energy, especially kidney yang tonify spleen, and build/strengthen spleen yin ? Even some simple recipies would be much appreciated Tusen takk h

Great! I've been looking into Kefir actually. But what properties were you referring to Yang or Yin, spleen or kidney? h

Two Realities - Jesus and Buddha as Brothers
hagar replied to Encephalon's topic in Buddhist Discussion
I second Steve here. It might be adequate to point out the fact that Thich Nhat Hahn builds his point of Buddha and Jesus being brothers on one very simple fact: that they both tried to convey the same understanding of reality: that we are this oneness, and that everything is it. No matter what "laws" or agendas we have regarding it; what is it that gives space for such distinctions or sameness to arise?; this never changing reality in us and around us. I once sat in a huge basketball arena in Idaho together with 3000 mormon high school students singing "because I have been given much I too must give, because of thy great bounty, Lord, each day I live". Never felt so connected and loving. Never so alone. But the message conveyed in the lyrics, never so true. h -
I understand where you are coming from, and I must admit that his talks on youtube are funny and interesting. I even tried to look into the teaching a bit more. I even looked past the use of sci-fi connotations and glowing crystals, and found them relieving. There's humor there, and thats good. Most of what is "channeled" is not very unique though. If you listen most Neo-advaitan teachers and mix in a bit of Abraham Hicks or other teachers in the secret it'a all there. I am in no position to judge this as any worse than anything else out there. The only thing I do have trouble with is the dependence on language and conceptual understanding. You don't get to silence and emptiness through knowing "more" about how you should live your life. Its the other way around. Away from that he sounds like an interesting fellow. h
