Great thread, and imporant. Since I am doing a PhD on Ethics and morality these days, I can with great confidence say that both are inherently instrumental, and have nothing to do with truth per se. Actually, as I dwell into how ethics might be applied to the field (biotechnology) that I am currently researching, I see that ethics and morality as a concept and as a tool might be a hindrance, more than a solution. That said, having had many so-called "awakening-ish" experiences, the experience of truth totally derailed my life. It completely messed everything up, and kicked me in the balls. Morality is a good beacon for a more harmonious earth in the best case, but inherent goodness is not good, and might prove even destructive. I broke my back on a mountain (no pun intended) and the mountain did not care. I realized that the notion of right action is situated, and contingent, and that the illusion of separateness dissolves right and wrong. After a while though, and when I became a father, I also realized that there is such a vast difference in our intent. As individuals. That said, my breaking my back turned me towards truth. But it did not make me a better person. I don´t even know if this has anything with what Manitou was intending with this thread. h

In my own limited understanding, the only question that is fruitful to answer, and that you gain real benefit from without it hindering your potential for experiencing this yourself is the first question. Yes, there are forms or practices that focus primarily on one of the three. I find that going beyond the cultural and semantic discussion into the actual perception of Jing, Chi and Shen (they are by no means Chinese or ancient) is a good way. I practice all three, and may focus on Jing forms, Chi forms or Shen forms depending on my need or goal. Intelectually you may be able to discern yin and yang aspects of all three treasures, yet it is difficult to percieve yin and yang beyond the Chi aspect. None of the three treasures are identical to their manifestation, just like semen is not the same or identical to Jing. This is really important to understand, and saved me from alot of wasted time and effort. Jing is our essential water or liquid; thus practicing Jing - forms works on your body, your tendons, ligaments, glands, yet are not them. Jing is the essential water the moisture, the deep basic essence of your material existence. Jing is not sexual, yet Jing is expressed sexually. If you do it right, it will be activated and you feel it coming out of your pores, your joints, manifesting in a different form of sweat. It is actually quite difficult to activate jing. Chi is our essential fire. It is in its nature both yin and yang, based on the context it is placed, yet it is not essentially one or the other. Chi may feel like friction, vibration, magnetism, and can manifest as hot or cold. Chi is always flowing, dispersing or collecting, never static. Most qigong works with this. Shen forms worsk with our essential space and light. Shen is both space and light, and information, and feels like a light bulb, or a gathering of sparks or radiation. This is the perception of it, yet Shen is not that, Much more our deepest energetic being. Beyond that we are not localized at all. Just being. There is also a difference in perception of post- and pre- "heaven" or "birth". I will not join this discussion, other than when you meditate with a particular transmission from a teacher or lineage, or if you are lucky, by grace stumble upon it yourself, pre-natal energy (cosmic energy, light and information) is accessed. The only word I can use to describe it is pure, or maybe unconditioned. NeiDan should not be talked about alot prior to practicing it. It will be like spending a year researching parachuting without any real practice. It will only disturb your first encounter with freefall. My two Øre h

So, folks, TTB, when it´s all said and done, and the fat lady signs; Isn´t it all about storytelling? h
-
The dude. Pretty much always been the guy, the dude. No name, just gender. Go figure
-
The Mego probably. It´s actually demotivating to not be "accomplished", but that is the dark side.
-
talking from experience it´s actually painful to groove on that mystery. Maybe I just feel like you feel right after you have jumped off a building and then changed his mind.
-
Only stories are such breaker of hearts.
-
focus on your heels, and incease connection between them and the base of the skull. have about a fist with between the feet- Stay off coffee and other stimulants Place your feet in cold water prior to training. h

Surrender is stepping backwards, as the old Zen proverb says, but you have to say something... What nobody told me when I started this process is that what you end up with after all this doing is nothing. h
-
This is actually a grieving process. It´s easy to talk about surrender, but actually doing it... Talk about conversation killer
-
seriously, take away the story, then what?
-
Best TTB thread ever
-
agreed. But seriously, if we strip away the old narrative, what is it all about? h

My partner had a dislocation of her retina, which really sucked, and had to have 3 surgeries. She has had a healing from my teacher, but since she had to remove the glass body of her eye she feels that the energy is either cold, leaking or unharmonious in the entire left side of her head, and wonder if there is possible nerve damage. The eye is a central thing neurologically, but are there simple stuff or treatment that may, energy-wise counter or at least reduce the symptoms she is strugglig with. Any advice? h

Wonderful! n

Thanks. In theory this is also what I uphold, yet experience so far with my gf is to the contrary. It seems that removing something, abit like what Cat was mentioning, i.e the presence of absence is far worse than a malfunctioning something, chi-wise. This is confirmed by my teacher. Yet at a more general level, neuroplasticity, reconfiguration of both chi and neural pathways, should be stronger than the leakage that is there now. What cannot happen is a regeneration of the actual glass body in the eye, since the cells do not regenerate. But I´m working on regenerating a tooth from the inside out. Maybe it´s an intention thing. I guess that a more fundamental question emerges; how much should one trust one´s own eclectic search for answers, and how much should one settle for the answers from teachers. It´s actually a pretty deep issue: the trust in tradition and lineage, and the (at times) renegade search for truth everywhere and anywhere. h

Thank you Cat =)

If you have any tentative advice or suggestions please PM me =)

Thanks Cat. That is probably the question. M. Lomax; not familiar with him...

Not questionable at all. She got a treatment that was as good as it gets. The question was more related to if anyone here has any knowledge of the implications of removing something from something as vital as the eye, and any simple and everyday tips that one can apply to counter the long-term effect of this procedure. The healing was very effective, yet it makes the actual mechanical issue of an intervention in the eye even more apparent. The natural flow of the qi is running up against something that is actually missing, more in line of what happens when you get a hip replacement. She does the practices and follows suggestions from my teacher, yet the actual eye is still in a pretty dire state, and in addition to that she wonders about the long term implications of such a surgery. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Beyond me. As said above, this is more of a TCM question; she is feeling alot of coldness is coming up and in addition to that she struggles with the neurological after-effects of the procedure.
