  2. Marijuana and the tao?

It's alot more difficult for a consummer to figure a way out. He has to quit first, and then think about how to fix the situation, paradoxically. Why? Well, here we enter the discussion about the entities that are associated with usage of toxics... Not my specialty.
  3. Marijuana and the tao?

Yes, this is what hear too I followed your way of thinking over a few threads, Will@Peace. Your mind is under some kind of influence, and now i know why... It's sad.
  4. I've tried alot of methods, for me this is what worked: - just did a sloppy lotus with the feet barely crossing at the ankles. - kept doing it for a while, then tried to move the feet up the thighs, slowly. - used retention and celibacy, flexibility is often corelated with a good hormonal level - the tendons need jing to grow, otherwise they snap, or stretch like an over-used rubber band, no power. If you cannot do even some symbolic form of lotus, try half lotus first, gradually moving the foot up the thigh, changing it from the right side to the left side, on each consecutive meditation session. In time, you can build enough elasticity to try a whimpy lotus, and then take it gradually from there, as shown above. For the ones that are working to stabilize the lotus, you can use some cushion under the ankles, just enough to lift them a bit. It's a trick that can help alot. It's used just temporary, you can stop using it as your elasticity grows in time.

I know they could work in a specific context. What worries me thou is the general rush to exhalt the use and abuse of toxics, and connect them with taoism... and meditation. So I think we kind of agree with most that we discussed... Good luck L1
  6. 1 Glass of Wine?

Can you account for masters and practicioners that use drugs and alcohol to serve for awareness enhancement (other than shamanic tribes who use various herbs - their environment and lifestyle are very different from ours, so they are out of our discussion)... I really am interested in hearing your opinion, thank you.
  7. 1 Glass of Wine?

Yes. The body 'needs' things that got used to. And your habits are supposed to serve you, not the other way around. I think we need to make a bit of a radical opinion, because people are misinformed. We often see titles of threads as: Tao and alcohol Tao and marijuanna Tao and masturbation ... People think Tao is a general term that defines an impersonal 'entity' that will accept all of their vices too. To my understanding, nothing can be further from the truth. Tao has alot of rules, they are the rules of nature. If you break social rules, you may or may not pay. Yet if you break the rules of nature, you will surely produce undesired effects. You are right about gardening. You can't expect to sow thorns and reap lillies
  8. 1 Glass of Wine?

Yes. Toxics play with the nervous system. You need it clean as a whistle, if you are to sense the suble out there, and in there. I formulated the ideas to be palatable to people looking for 'stimulants'. Actually there is alot of stimulus both inside and outside ourselves. Alcohol anaesthetise your awareness. And most of the toxics. Don't play with toxics thinking they will increase your awareness. That's what the hippies thought... Yes, i think you need to experience both and choose. Yet you cannot have both at the same time. Edit: spell check 'anaesthetise' is an inhuman word
  9. 1 Glass of Wine?

Yes. Yet the issue is not that relative. If we take a look at the various systems of practice, they required sometimes long and arduous fasts and detox programs, for purification. You need a pure body, a pure heart, and a pure mind... These only apply if you want to practice meditation for what it was deviced. If you just want peace of mind, visit your local church, it's easier... Also, you may say practicioners can transform 'poison' to 'medicine'. That can only happen if they already transformed quite a bit their whole being... which usually implies that cravings for alcohol, pot, coffeine, and god knows what else, are left behind... It's not a gesture of strong will and control. It's a stage when you find yourself surrounded with stimulents that are not of this world, and are much more potent. Compared to them, alcohol, drug, even conventional sex, is nothing... I'm just adding these thoughts to widen the perspective a bit
  10. 1 Glass of Wine?

Meditation and toxic substances mutually exclude each other - coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, pot, heroin etc
  11. Johny Chang/Liping Lotus position?

An insult is a feedback too... I'm not in Ken in Kathy's shoes, but if I were, I would pay attention to people that are ready to give feedback without keeping to social appearances. If hypotetically, I represented a school, I'll choose my words ten times before I let them appear on a public forum. Otherwise, the school will loose alot of credit, and eventually the guys in charge would find out and correct the situation. But some things cannot be corrected any more... Wouldn't you agree that these kind of exchanges will occur more often than we like, especially in the field of 'teaching the unseen'? (especially in a clash of cultures) Didn't it occur often in Chinese history that masters and teachers were challenged, and then judged by their behaviour and reaction? Would they use the occasion to offer a nice lesson of wisely solving human differences, or would they resort to threats and insult back? To some people, choosing a school is choosing a destiny... it's like choosing a partner in life. They make up their minds regardless of any threats. The ones that are just interested in stealing the techniques and do it they're own way, they count for nothing. They may kowtow a thousand times and tell you what you want to hear. The ones that want to invest all of their power, and heart and mind into it, will measure, and measure and measure... It's them that I, if I were to represent a school, would pay attention to. Because they rarely talk. Mostly, they talk thru their silence... *bowing out* L1
  12. So, you say we gave up on all these things that to you mean freedom just because we were afraid. That sounds reasonable Ok, let me thicken the plot here, and I keep in mind I don't 'throw' the next words in anyone's face... I'd say that daoism and personal freedom are two opposing things. Why? Because Ziran is all about law and order. What would happen if the sun decided not to rise this morning? Take an year's vacation and enjoy some freedom... ehm? You can't be free. You'd have to choose. Society has it's rules, and they are many. If you break them, your status may or may not be compromised. The universe has it's rules. If you align with them, when you break them, you pay. A daoist/buddhist/christian real school has it's rules... if you break them, your progress is compromised. The way I see it, either way you need to develop at least the power to make engagements, take vows, make promises you will hold on to. The lack of will to do so it's a clear sign you're not ready to start your life as an adult... And if you get over that barrier, having a family is easy-pie. Or, you can evolve to that stage while having a family. Later edit: This thread is not some place where people with family try to see the good side of having a family, because they need encouragement. It is a place where we, the family fans, offer some encouragements to those that want to take this step, and are not yet convinced it's the right thing to do. Of course, there will always be people that just CAN'T have a family, it's not their cup of tea, and they live happily ever after without it.
  13. If I could start over...

Blasto, i have a proposition: make others your age talk and share their views. you guys may help us youngsters alot... The question: What would you change if you could turn back ten years ago? Any answer that can be extrapolated to most cases, is pure gold... Thanks for the effort L1
  14. Why the Taobums Can't Get Along

the women's presence is too little, too much fire, over too little water imho
  15. Johny Chang/Liping Lotus position?

Who am I to post official questions here? Anyway, Ken already answered, thanks man. A new book, interesting. @YMW, Why do the four channels on the back need to flow upward? Why do the yongquan need to be sealed for? It seems like cutting away the influence of the earth... or is it something else?
  16. 中国图书馆

    我们汉语老师让我们找一本书,它的名字是淮南子。可能你们帮忙我们一下?我找一本英语翻译的。 感谢!
  17. Johny Chang/Liping Lotus position?

I don't want a pretty answer, Meow (I'm making no refference at yours now). Just an official one It's too little information to make a decision on.

Maybe we're a bit over reacting? We cannot judge a culture based on the cultural fashion of another culture. The reason the West had so much advancement in sciences, is because the West has learned to PUT QUESTIONS. If questioning a school, or a master, or a teaching, or a a policy, is considered an insult, what choise do we have if we are to interact with the Chinese culture? To act like hypocrits? I asked myself many times niko's questions, and am sure many of us did too. And it's important that they are answered. Otherwise people would make up their own ideas. I agree that the idea wasn't formulated very polite, but the questions still stand. And the questions need an honest and sincere answer... I wonder what Mr. Liping would say, would a question like this bother him? I never met him, but somehow I think he would give kind and gentle answer. Please, Ken, KathyLi.

In '94 i've heard there were some 700 lao wai students in China, learning Chinese, now it's said that the number is hundred fold... Like many of them did, i am too preparing for a scholarship, maybe next year, or in two years time... it's like studying another world...
  20. Being Banned from Taobums

I like drew's posts, even the ones that could qualify as spam, and i think he's innocent in his intentions, and he will never change, he's not the kind of guy that you tell what to do, maybe adjust a bit, but not change, i like that, also the tone and energy of his postings never struck me as negative or temperamental, there are many others that deserve warnings for the kind of energy they bring on the forum, which is now more relevant, to me drew is a nice guy that has offered more than many people put together on this forum, so he has his things he likes to do often, that's part of his persona, and he's the least re-action-ist guy that i saw around, actually i learned quite alot, even thou at first he struck me as overly mental, his sincere effort and curiosity makes him one of my favourite posters here...................................................................................
  21. No sperm cells no energy?

Sounds good! It's important that you find your own sources, and follow your gut instinct.
  22. No sperm cells no energy?

The Three Finger Lock is the least important method in the book... the only thing it can help you is to make actual difference between some kind of orgasm, and ejaculation. You need to learn the sexual methods from a qualified teacher. If not, just focus on the love and Qi exchange, during intercourse. If you try to go too fast too far, you'll have alot to recover from later. This is what happened to the most that tried these methods, and am sure many will tell you stories. The stories are true. Follow the link in my signature for more information. It's all I can do for you - those things CAN help. Good luck!
  23. Does this look legit? (Cordyceps)

seventy bucks? are u sure?... pretty cheap!

I bet some one hundred years ago Radio and Television looked creepy to many: boxes out of which people spoke or made figures... The stem cell blood transfusion machine is the most advanced technology in terms of using natural resources, combined with technology, to cure quite alot of diseases... You can add to that that Tao Garden is one of the very-very few places in the world where Stem Cell therapy is aided by: - zapping - infrared treatment - ozone therapy - rife machine therapy - nutrition counseling - colonic detox - parasite, virus and dangerous bacteria and mold cleansing - a very good and sofisticated Qigong program that can help the patient recover a good deal of his/her Original Force - without it, the Stem cells don't have enough power to work... And without the above quoted therapeutic steps, the body would be too toxic for the Stem cells to begin working... Someday I'd like to get my hands on some very detailed testimonials related to that particular Stem Cell program... With the rest of the weird stuff is the same: not enough information... When you know how things work, it's plain and clear...
