  1. New Taoist Home-Study Course

Stig, My guess is that no decent taoist teacher or master would teach anything worth teaching without a personal relationship with the student. If the home-study course is only history and philosophy, I think it may work. Another issue is the source, and the view, which are correlated with the lineage... of which you cannot partake with online courses. I think there's something else worth teaching with a home-course: many of the daoist students present on the forum, that belong officially to a certain lineage, could only speak about what NOT TO DO, what NOT TO THINK etc I know it sounds a bit shallow and cheap, but my guess is this may help alot: if mind is to be involved in the teaching, then let it be the correct STRUCTURING of the mind, related to a topic such as daoism... And i didn't vote
  2. ...that, and tea without at least a spoonfull of honey. and, from time to time, mental masturbators but situation no. 2 happens only their squirts make this forum REALLY slippery...
  3. this reminds me of a quote from the 300 (Spartans): 'Immortals... we put their names to the test' I think so too. What is the most sensitive part of our bodies...? the most vulnerable one also.
  4. Encounters with the Nagual

'For those who dissipated their energy, death is like a fleeting dream, filled with bubbles of steadily fading memories, and then nothing." You see, you don't need to look for dissolution too hard... or for the void... we all get there, if we just sit on our asses...
  5. You know... I can't stop wondering, with all this pollution and mind-control, do we really have a chanse of doing anything with our practice? I mean, look at it this way: it's said that today every young man is half of what his father used to be, and a quarter of what his grandfather used to be... the further you go in the past, the greater the difference... (btw, our daoist goal is to RETURN, isn't it?) What if you don't succeed. Say, you'll end up having a pretty healthy life, living 5 to 10 years more above the media, and so what. I think having offsprings, raising humans to carry your DNA into the future, with all that you acheived in this life, is the easiest way to become an immortal... the surest. That fact aside, this experience, of parenting, is so deep and has such a profound effect on us as humans, I mean, energetically, physically, psychically, that it would be very hard to replace with anything else... What would replace this experience? What magnitude would it have to have? Saving the planet? It's still not that close, not that intimate... Our Earth is our mother, but I love my kid more. Humanity may be just a temporary infection that plunders the Earth for a short period. Any single acheived master could save this Earth in a couple of minutes, if he would want to. Isn't it curious that nobody does this? Anyway, back to where I've started... it's another curious fact that this thread has been read so many times. Many many times. I wonder if there's another one as popular as this one. Why?
  6. I'll buy a copy, no, make that ten! Really!

Thanks again. You mentioned this very often, in different context, like it is a very important topic. However - maybe due to your school's rules - you didn't provide some kind of hint towards something that could work. I appreciate the effort of telling what your masters consider to be false and unproductive. I wonder if they could allow you to at least leave a hint. We have a Greek philosopher - I admire Greek philosophy more than German philosophy - that said : if you give me a point in space, i could lift the entire earth... That's what we need, at least one 'point'... On the other hand, the topic of 东,西,南,和 北方 道教 是最有意思。。。 可能你帮忙我们一下。 Ehm, I may even try to write a paper on it at school... they give me all kinds of uninteresting topics for it, but this one it's golden, imho... If you can elaborate on different types of major daoist schools, I will greatly appreciate it
  8. At 21 it's easy not to notice it. We are still in the grace of the Mother Nature then. A bit later, it's pretty obvious that an energy-spirit draining does occur... Around 29-30. Later on, even more obvious. And btw, Castaneda wasn't talking about energy first, but about spirit. I reiterate: it can be reversed, daoists have the know-how. It's not something that affects women alone due to pregnancy, but it affects men also. Women feed the kids physically, men energetically. If you're backed up by a strong practice, it shouldn't be a problem.
  9. It's true, you need time to fill up the 'holes', about one or two years. If that is your main concern (as it was mine, some time ago), I'm glad I can rid you of it: the CC clan didn't knew the technology, but it's possible to recover, and not at the expense of the children - the technology is daoist... I had the 'oportunity' to try and fill up the 'hole' during a very stressful period, troubles with the job and family, and alot of health issues. If I could do it then, I think it's easier under usual circumstances. Alas, this thread is not to convince the skeptical, but to help the ones that are inclined to do so, to take that decision, and do it with joy... It' ain't for wussies, that's for sure edit: raising a kid is simmilar to teaching: you have to expand your boundaries, get out of your shell... make it bigger, so that it can envelop the others too... getting past your little concerns and growing up, for real. it is true that you need energy to fill it up, but then again, if you are not able to comply with this small task, your practice could be a bit sloppy... it has so many oportunities, that it's just so overwhelming... it's very very sad to grow old, without children. your body starts yelling at ya at about 30-35...
  10. The Tao Bum Pai

It's a great job indeed, and I know he is your friend.... but... I wouldn't be so sure... I'm a nobody, but if I'll remake that website, many 'masters' will be out looking for a job... And I think there are many others (not that many) that can do even better than me. edit: or maybe I DO need a mouthful of humble pie...
  11. Qi is NOT Energy

Oh but please do go there... (you already stirred it up ) Btw, can you throw a hint on what 'intelect' could be?
  12. Most of the gf's i had 'made me' pay for movie tickets, clubs, restaurants, condoms... It's the priviledge of the gentleman... But it happens the other way around too these days, so it's not gender related... If you want a relationship and don't have the gold is heavy, do you think it will work? For a gf, getting the Gold is a sign that you passed at least one bit of the survival exams you have to pass thru in life, in order to provide for an eventual future familiy... And No, I didn't always pay in chash, sometimes I payed with my credit card... You should see how that process magnifies after you get married... When the kids come, magnify it to the power of 10 Negative energy is still energy... It's like the beggars that eat from dumpsters... they still eat...
  13. It is part of the learning experience, isn't it? Did you marry your first girlfriend?
  14. Yes, I think starting a war on money is like starting a war with your own dick... and essentialy this is what is happening... your connection with the root is weakened... Gold is heavy, because gold is the jing of the Earth... Seen from that perspective, this 'big mouth's' name may sound a bit different. The next phase, when the root is weakened, is that the top (head) gets overheated... It consumes the resources of the body. The Liver pushes the remaining Qi from the body, up to the head... The person enters a state of a Qi vacuum... he has no functional link with the Earth, so he needs the energy from another source... So he starts doing what it's been doing until now... draining others by getting their attention... When you see the mechanism that is behind it, you stop to judge it morally, and feel sadness, and even compassion...
  15. That's silly, of course you can... This is what awaits at a higher level. But the higher the level, the higher the price...
  16. Qi is NOT Energy

'All energy is only borrowed, and one day you'll have to give it back.' - this is a quote from the Avatar movie
  17. It is usually a sign that you didn't bring the Qi down to the Qihai.
  18. Qi is NOT Energy

Wonderful! I have to make an essay for my Chinese Literature laoshi, about Daoist Cosmology... Do you mind if I use that idea without quotes? There is another idea, which I read it in Winn's articles, that Daoist Cosmology happens as we speak, that is, every moment... So, I have two ideas, I need one more and I'm up to writing that essay. Every description of Qi is related to the specific aplication of it, at a certain step of the practice. So, description is Daoist Philosophy, and definition would beone self's experimentation thru practice, of that particular description - that is made available at that specific point... Mm?
  19. GIH, what about your life? - do you have a job? - or do you still live with your parents? - do you have a wife? - do you have a kid? If you are relating to these concepts only teoretically, then you're just a big mouth.
  20. Qi is NOT Energy

I think this is VERY good. And I think INTENT is shaped by understanding, molded by it. Hence the ?Question? @Taomeow, what about the first 'formula' of the TTC? I think IF we start by making the Dao indescribable, it's like we shoot ourselves in the foot... Re your question above, i think it's a westernized interpretation due to the lacking of specific taoist terminology - that is kept inside oral transmission - Mi Jue
  21. Qi is NOT Energy

A short discussion, to stir up some comments: - what is qi. i feel it somehow lack a definite interpretation, it definitely has very precise definitions but are kept as part of the oral transmission within most schools >is like the chinese ideograms, it can mean everything and its meaning can change many times. also if you want, it CAN mean precisely one thing, its like putting water inside a cup, so you can use it. you cannot easily use water without a container. a meaning of Qi is a container of Qi, which allows one to use it for a definite purpose. this is also true, the definition changes with the level and has close correlation to Xing-form Xiang-imagine Mudi-purpose Ming-names Huilun-position in the chain of dependent origination >today i felt i got nearer and nearer to a more global definition of Qi, following one of its main features. Change. Qi is Changing, and Changes, and Seems to Like Changing. :-) partly correct, Qi is both Changing and Unchanging Houtian Qi is changing and created Xiantian Qi is unchanging and uncreated, furthermore Xiantian Qi that is unchanging and uncreated is within Houtian Qi which is changing and created >What is the Unchanging? all the realm of the Xiantian which contains many things such as Ling, Zhen, Qi, Shen, Benwo.... >Is Yi Jing (the book of changes) going to help the understanding of the Change and the Unchanging? am sure with such a mercurial mind you will find much inspiration in it >If Qi becomes still, what happens to it? it changes in to....

Thank you Exorcist. I didn't quite get this part quoted above. Can you please elaborate?
  23. That's what I said, but you said something else the first time. Paying is needed: every service needs a form of payment, it's called reciprocity... Paying money is getting away easy for the student. If you want to preach anything, start preaching that, cuz it's the goddamn truth... Paying with time and labour is more costly than money, much more costly.
