Attention! Letter From David Verdesi Regarding Wang Liping
宁 replied to r.w.smith's topic in General Discussion
That would be me, if you ask me for an explanation, i surely have one. 1. it wasn't fair for him to ban me from his forum. i was there with the intent of cooling down the repeated attacks on HT, M. Chia and M. Winn. i was never rude or impolite, i just expressed my experiences and some of the experience of my fellow practicioners... to me the decision of banning was just not just. accepting only praise, and not giving the accused the chanse of replying is hypocrit behaviour. 2. i had my 'revenge' with david in my own way, in my private exchange of e-mails with him. i had to know what he is all about, although my methods were not very orthodox, hehe. i still have the information, that at least to me showed that his awareness is really sloppy. nevermind level 4 or whatever. my first intent was to make them public, but somehow i changed my mind. it was my own experience, and, as i discovered later, it had relevance only to me. i'm sorry if i caused wrong expectations, but i don't own anything to anyone, and my decision still stands. nothing public. besides, i'm not of the party that bashes this or that teacher... i work solo, and i act as i see fit. 3. i still have the e-mails. you will receive an e-mail adress and a password. i'm not saving any data, if by any chanse you in fact work for david and want to erase negative information, you very much can do it this time, i dont care. (i had a hard time remembering the email and password, it has no relevance for me anymore). you can give me some feedback in private, if you please. just keep it to yourself. i repeat, i'm not into bashing, i got over it long ago. is that convenient to you? -
Dumb ass speaking out his hole: (echo) Life and Death are the same. I first found out about this reading Clavell's Shogun. I'd sure like a smart ass comment on it
-
who said anything about you you are right, smart ass doesn't look good, but look at the alternatives

speaking of impermanence, death really puts things into proper perspective, ain't it? and below is the supreme argument to it, eheh... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHxWwiiNM_k&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHxWwiiNM_k&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHxWwiiNM_k&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

if there's anything i like more than a moron, it's an opinionated moron we 'die' everyday, there's a moment in the night when the heart stops. good meditators die everytime they meditate. they rehearse death. if you don't have a clear view on the process of death, then you are not clear about life either. the question on death is a good one. deadly important

Taoist Internal Alchemy and the book 'Taoist Yoga'
宁 replied to Iskote's topic in General Discussion
it's not that easy. what do you do when there are no theoretical explanations of states and feelings that you experience in practice. i do feel quite alone now, with that... but still, quite secure... weird... -
yes interesting topic, i'll add a couple of cents from my experience and what i've seen around: - the ones that build the dantian first usually have a hard time keeping the Qi inside, while it tends to go out thru the lower gates this is especially true for folks that have a certain amount of sexual experience that involves lots of emission... if it does not 'press' you to go out and spend it on girls, will surely find it's way out thru nocturnal emission... maybe we should stop trying to make a method look better than the other, and try to fit the practice to the Actual needs of the wanna-be practicioner for example, Chia does not say you have to use your mind to move the Qi first. the first stage of the opening the microcosmic is building: - heat - pressure - rooting into the lower abdomen... after that you activate the accu points... - then, there is this issue, should the accu-points be activated by the practicioner, or should they be let be activated by themselves... actually, i don't think they ever activate themselves. for instance, even if you don't focus directly on a point, the method usually implies in-direct stimulation of the point, sometimes thru specific movements... i think master chia's system is complete and safe, if you take it as a system, and study how each part complements each other... people that didn't have actual experience with a gifted instructor that can show how things work in the system, are more prown to find things to 'improve'... on the problems issue: i know master chia looks like a dumb chinese sometimes, but that is just a cover up. he's a really smart daoist practicioner... the teacher i study with had no problem whatsoever with Any of the practices outlined by master chia. i keep asking him why other people keep having problems with it, and he doesn't.. why others seem to have skimmed thru the system in a couple of years, and 'got it', meanwhile he (as an instructor) said he merely scratched the surface of the extraordinary richness of this universal tao system... i got many answers to that, many of good common sense. but in essence, i think, after watching him how he 'navigates' thru the system, i observed some features that i would like to 'attach' to my bag of tricks: - always go gradually, never rush into anything - when everybody else stops, you just keep going - the practices are a gift of heaven, and heaven only decides who gets it and who doesn't - it has alot to do with the concept of 'De' as in Virtue... i'm still trying to figure that out... - always pay attention to what you are working to acheive: *develop health = the biggest issue these days is health. practicioners that are in their younger years may see health as something that comes naturally... eventually, when you advance in age, you see that keeping healthy really IS a big deal, it makes all the difference... *develop awareness = that means that your inner and outer senses become more and more subtle... *develop consciousness = you expand your perception of self, more than society and religion has ever taught you...not in theory, but in practice. also, learn to work with this new-found perception of self, in everyday life and challenges of life * develop De = this is a subject i can't say much about... still studying... until now i just figured that is has much to do with health, awareness and consciousness... even though philosophers may disagree... - take Life itself as your partner in learning the teaching = it's good if you can unify the practice and eveyday life. this way, the forces of everyday life help you in your practice, help you develop further, understand better... and the Qi and Shen that you get from the practices, is used to meet the challenges of everyday life... it's a continuous process of refinement, in which both parts work as one... - he practically 'swallows' the system that he studies, with all his heart, all his life, his dedication is progressively greater... but he does it with a sense of responsability, to both his life, his familiy, society... practice is never something separate... it's like the secret ingredient that changes everything. i'm around this guy for almost seven years now. the reason i still stay around (many come and go) is that i'd like to take and embody these features i described above. even if we read about them, it still doesn't mean much, we can't learn these from a book. i thought they would be interesting to share, as (maybe) causes that differenciate folks that 'get it', from folks that don't... L1 edit: the list is much longer, i realized after posting this. it's interesting that he said he thinks that there are other instructors that work with practice this way... yet he doesn't think we can find them on forums, or greately advertised... PS: Craig, what would you say if i tell you that the first time i met the man i talk about, who was an instructor of Master Chia, the man told me exactly the same thing: running an orbit with nothing in it is not very helpful... THEN he taught me Master Chia's Opening the microcosmic... the man is really a talent, also doesn't waste time with things that are not the best

"The self-confidence of the warrior is not the self-confidence of the average man. The average man seeks certainty in the eyes of the onlooker and calls that self-confidence. The warrior seeks impeccability in his own eyes and calls that humbleness. The average man is hooked to his fellow men, while the warrior is hooked only to infinity." The Wheel of Time Something tells me you'd love this author. It may be a transition to you, towards practice. Even if daoism is a really interesting philosophy, it's practice beats it by far... Because if philosophy is adressed to masses, practice is adressed to your unique. There is a whole universe inside you. Universe!

back on solitude, this is how i feel that the true nature of reality is: man alone, facing the universe (all around and inside) we come alone in this world no matter what we do, because of our unicity, we are still alone in life and go alone... i feel it's a natural feeling, of solitude what are we, anyway?

hi hagar, there's this idea that we, as westerners are a individualist culture with a conformist mass spirituality - i.e, we are capitalists in everyday life, and white sheeps in the flock of the Lord, at his right, in the spiritual life chinese are a conformist mass culture, with a individualist type of spirituality - i.e, they respect customs and social order very much, society and country are a priority - regarding spiritual life, it's the side of their life where they are really alone, facing the unknown, the Wuji this view i encountered many places. it's really very interesting to evade the modality of thinking that prevades in a certain culture. like changing clothes, like eating a foreing dish... to me, it's really important to be able to rise over different types of thinking, and use any of them whenever they are needed most.

Good stuff! It takes courage to believe in that, then training. But to some, it's easier to be 'realistic' (as in pessimistic, hehe) - this way they save alot of effort...

truth is an illusion, made up so that we chase after it some woke up, some still chase is my statement true? of course
-
way to go sir.. a few minor corrections and you are ready to go... that's what happens when you have a teacher. when you are your own teacher, you change the system instead, because you don't know how things work, you have no idea what corrections you can apply. it's what we see for years now... jumping from one branch to another

Hi there, i heard there's a big issue regarding the rules of the practice, because if one doesn't follow them, the practice may very well ruin one, instead of helping one. So... here i am, asking : - are you familliar with rules of the practice taught by masters? - have you yourselves discovered your own 'timings' thru experimentation? I think this topic is 'deadly' important... Thanks in advance L1

Actually some of your thoughts came to confirm my own feelings related to practice. It's interesting that nobody taught me these, it's just something i've been discovering on my own, bit by bit. @Taomeow I got 沈志刚 laoshi's book, i saw some pictures there related to practice and phases of the moon. but my chinese is still very basic, so i'm looking for other resources... do you have something you could reccomend? There are still a fiew folks that i would like to hear on the subject of 'rules'... Exorcist, YM Wong, Song Yongdao, Pietro... are there any of you out there?

Taoist Internal Alchemy and the book 'Taoist Yoga'
宁 replied to Iskote's topic in General Discussion
Heya Iskote, i enjoy reading you posts. Regarding YM's comments, i was upset on them too some time ago. Now i realize that he's just exposing the way things are there, in China. We, in the west, have been exposed to a different view on Dao and Daoism... I think maybe there is no absolute truth... maybe Daoism had to change in order to become accepted in the west. Maybe the western-type daoism works better for us as westerners So, maybe we shouldn't be that grumpy about it... I admit thou, that eastern Daoism seems to be at least more powerfull and complex than the western 'Daoism'... We're talking apples and oranges here, may each of us grab the fruit that is in his/her nearest reach eheh -
there are quite alot of 'rules' and 'suggestions' regarding pregnancy and birth this is a part of daoism that i'm most interested in it's sad that most of the material that talks about it is not yet translated one of the reasons i took up a Chinese college i think the child that is born this way has alot more jing power not to mention the ballancing qualities of orgasm regarding the emotional and the mental side i thought about putting the video on the 'get a life thread'
-
@Miao Lady: how can i find out more specifically about these two suggestions? Further comments? @Eternal Student @Ya Mu Good posts the list is still thin...
-
good, thank you... please come again if you remembered anything else... i hope others would think about contributing in the near future... anyway, i'm thinking of adding this thread to the list of threads that appear in my signature...
