Here is another option

i've been meaning to ask you drew, since i got no response yet from master chunyi lin (btw, does he ever answer to emails or facebook messages?) you said something about a qigong system centered on lotus pose alone. was it just talk or you know something more precise? thanx
-
it is, yet i feel it must come only after 'concept' is clear and functional, otherwise it only works as a lousy excuse...
-
i feel drew is right. although it's obvious that many traditions that had great masters who didn't do the lotus pose. still, to westerners, no effort is too much, because westerners are used to get it quick and easy. from that standpoint, i think lotus pose is very much needed. in fact any sadhana that is arduous and requires much effort... you can't buy jhana's at the supermarket, with a coin. jhana-o-mat. haha. To be at one, or not at one- this is my question

the thought crossed my mind also, more than a couple of times if you look for a daoist answer, you should look in Nature, because Dao follows Nature. there are way too many morons around with a concocted answer ready to serve it to you asap. mind you, i'm not judging, just expressing my own thoughts, i rarely ask for advice here, and when i do i usually make it in private to people that i know that they know who and what. otherwise it's too risky, i might meet a moron with more developed convincing abilities (he usually spits the 'truths' out like Jesus himself), and who knows, i just may believe him... i'm a little terrified at the perspective. when things get fuzzy, and i can't trust an outsider's sollution, i always turn to Nature - see, everything in Nature has a protection, the more valuable, the harder the protection it is. just look around at the means by which plants, minerals and animals protect themselves... Nature... L1 edit spellings -
hagar i'm not sure you mentioned, why exactly would you want to use the holosync? zuo ming-dao said he used robert bruce's stuff with good succes. still he seems a bit reluctant on details, but it surely got me interested. i'm interested in biologically replicating the procedure... i still am not sure if the posibility of breaking 'the seal between worlds' is a matter of personal effort, or it has to come hand in hand with heaven's say so thoughts?
-
if i do that i'll mess up my whole day i'll get headaches, hard breathing, nausea, i'll even throw up i also take the discussions pretty serious...
-
it's interesting what you say about Robert Bruce people use various methods of breaking 'the seal' of the worlds as a practicioner, do you think you can sum up a list of 'friendly suggestions' for people that try a simmilar feat? for the rest, i'm glad we can partly agree
-
what do you think slow but sure poisoning with tobacco and alcohol does to you besides mutilation what difference does it make if it starts at a cellular level ps: to the point, padawan, if you feel good, and health is better, why worry
-
are the abilities of astral travel and lucid dream a result of your practice or are they innate? i came by an idea that seems to resonate with what you say: - there is definately something going on out there - the human nature influences perception given these facts, we can say with pretty much certainty that we have to work with both our perception and our interpretation of it most of it, it seems, it's outside the boundaries of human understanding. the brain is approximating approximations, so to speak

OMG that's the most 'scientific' excuse i've ever heard zoose, admit it, you 'hunt' for reasons to keep you habits and not change this hasn't anything to do with cultivation, but with consumption it's not philosophy, you can check it with your doctor

Good advice. For the rest, if Mantak wouldn't walk his talk, there is no way in the world he would be that strong at his age considering he's flying all round the world for at least 30 years, twice every year, teaching. You should try that just once, for comparison.

Thanks Craig, i wasn't aware that the girls saw those lines as misoginist... jeez not by far, i had and continue to have lots to learn from girls (without them knowing about it hehe), i consider them natural born survivors and more rooted into reality than most men... PS: i don't like the word F..., but i use it when things aren't going that well hehe
-
i wasn't reffering to what you describe above, and i'm familliar with this kind of turn of discussion... to answer your question, i would very much like to have at least a three weeks break from talking (no matter the implications on jing); mmm come to think of it maybe a full moon cycle may do the trick.... peace L1

the truth is, most of the ladies i met were very aware of the problem males have with their sexuality also, most of them were not easily inclined to admit they have a simmilar problem with their emotional both parties have a hard time admitting their own problems, yet this is the first step in resolving them.... i'm not criticising, not by a long shot still i'm bewildered by the girls's reaction as you move to the south, where the Qi is hotter, it's very easy to see it almost everywhere maybe in the north, where the Qi is a bit colder, the situation maybe a bit different

so in a nutshell you'd say 99% of these experiences are mere subjective projections, woudn't you i'm not so sure about that i'm not ready to admit, or cling on the idea that most of the cosmos is just 'in my head' that is an anthropo-centric view, more palatable to buddhists than daoists i don't think you can crush the mistery of this world with psychollogical explanations to me your post could mean one of two things - either you want to discourage people to investigate something you consider not worth investigating - either that was only an introduction and you mean to continue by adding something interesting about occurences that DO happen outside the frame you described above waiting for a response L1

the answer is NO but it has to come from UNDERSTANDING you need to understand the deeper effects it has on you it also depends on what your goals are, it always is this way. at certain levels is hazardous, at others is plain toxic. at certain levels it doesn't count, at others it's a big issue. for a complete master or a complete novice, i think it doesn't matter. for a beginner that wants to make some progress, it may matter the world to him. could we take our western habits and integrate them with eastern practices? this is the main question. it's like a chinese opium addict would ask you if he is allowed to keep his addiction, but he wants to be saved by Jesus a hippie would say YES!, but would a specialist (priest) agree?

hehehe right back at'cha as my math teacher used to say: Q E D but this is not the point, it's more complicated than that... rewinding: men generally admit that to them the main draining factor is *misunderstood* sexuality. women generally admit that to them the main draining factor are *imbalanced* emotions. there are quite a fiew things to add to this picture, as it is not complete, but for our purposes i considered it sufficient... peace L1

interesting thought about the substances, i think you're right on the spot. it seems that mental states are deeply connected with physical states/physiology... the daoist return to infancy as a prerequisite to attaining the dao - maybe it's something a bit more literal than we imagine, eh? good brainstormig thread, i think we forgot to add, in good support to the ladies here, that emotional outbursts and imbalances disrupt the jing also L1 ps: about the dreaming (and other states) it was the same with me and some of my friends. but recently i come to experiment that it is possible to become even better than when you were very young. i still have to work to extend that state to other 'departaments' i'd say it's possible all the way, i'll check it out just for the fun of it anyway i'm ready to pass on another 'functional definition' of Jing = it equals with Youth working with Jing is a way in which you learn to retain and refine the characteristics of youth, even though the body is not young anymore, it surely can behave youthfull i think i've passed to you the video with the 62 year Zhu Rongfu 'playing' a daolu.................

hi hagar, pietro this thread is a fresh breath of air pietro is right, the brain/mind eats the body/jing can i join you guys with a question? : what does this situation tell us about what jing resources we need in order to engage in serious meditation?
