  1. Johnny Quest Club

I just love interesting movies and animation! Too bad they are too fiew that are done these days. But today I struck gold... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlPtrwv_VUE...feature=related Enjoy!!!
  2. Neigong Warriors by Kosta Danaos is another good one. Livia Kohn's books. Eva Wong's. Cleary's translations...
  3. I get that sometimes... I sometimes stop and think, that after all the years of training, i could only from time to time get a glimpse at what is beyond the physical realm. I truely want to live with a complete perception on reality... if not complete, at least greately enhanced. That has happened slowly and steadily over the years, but it's so little compared to what is out there. Basically it's like this: we live two lives, one is the waking life and the other is the time of the night. There is so little that we perceive from the waking life, and little to nothing from the time of night. I had some changes in my life recently which made me travel a bit and see other people, work in different groups... it's no wonder so fiew want to learn more about the unseen: there is so much that one needs to learn about the seen, which is human interaction... There are so many layers of reality. Sometimes if feel like i'm moving too slow.
  4. Of Buddhists and Taoists

Milton: "The mind has it's own place, and in itself can make a Hell out of Heaven, and a Heaven out of Hell" ...or a buddhist out of a daoist, and a daoist out of a buddhist... very heady energy i get from this thread. as far as i've seen, the 'buddhists' seem to have taken on to abstraction to the extreme of the extreme. anything that falls into less than an abstraction would be considered... well... in can't use their terms so i'll let them take it from here nice job, ZMD, you almost got them... wait... no, you didn't that is to say, you can never win a battle inside the mind, because for any idea that there is in this universe, there is a proper counter-idea that balances it properly - that's what some daoist said in other words... be well
  5. Of Buddhists and Taoists

Hey Stig, for them daoist teachings are corrupted, just because they are not the teachings of Buddha Of course, just for fair-play, they admit that daoist practices can lead you somewhere, but it's not it... We tried our best, I guess it's your turn to be convinced that they are not going to think otherwise. They already are IN THE KNOW compared to us...
  6. Honey, I killed the bees

Damn, there are days since I await that this thread goes down and nobody mentions it again... I know I first said it's ok, but it's only in respect to a fellow bum... My grandpa was a bee-raiser guy - what's the term in English ?? I have very nice memories about it... Hagar, if it happens again, for pity's sake, call a professional, the bees can be taken out without much effort (if it's not situated in a very remote and unreachable place)... I'll get over it PS: when i say professional, i mean a guy that works with bees, that raises them and knows everything about them...
  7. I remember what MC once said at one seminar: Every new master that comes from China, the first thing he says is - I'm better than Mantak Chia. Of course the students come and ask me, and I say go and check it out. And to the rest I have only one thought: the number of practicioners on this planet is far too small. Although I worked very hard to spread the daoist teachings, I only covered less than 0,01 percent. There is enough room for every teacher, and the world need good teachers... The energy in each of the messages speaks more than the messages themselves, so I have nothing more to add either. It's also about each person's destiny, however you may try, it's really hard to overcome this force... Let it rest, and back to practice L1
  8. By the same extent, if i come and kick you butt, and you react, it's because you care too much about your butt... And you should thank me for the wise lesson I suspect buddhist philosophy is much more than it transpired to us until now. It may very well be the same case as with daoism: until now we know a little more than nothing. You're the type that seems to like ideas. Why don't you think about this idea for a while: Karma kicks in when there is no I to choose the path in life. Karma is like an auto-pilot. The 'I' that people usually have is no more than a mixture of undischarged psychollogical tensions, that make them act and react in specific ways. The I of the practicioners comes about only when they are able to re-integrate, re-unite all the parts of their being, starting with: - the reunion between mind, heart and sex - the reunion between body, soul and spirit - the reunion of man, earth and heaven When there is no union, no coherent action, there is no 'I'. What do you think?
  9. I still don't get it... PC muscle control, both the anus and urethra, are in MC's books since the beginning. That is what's in Daniel Reids book... It's THE SAME PRACTICE. PLUS Daniel Reid reccomends Mantak Chia's book on sexual training, and comments briefly on them in the book. Plus his name is Daniel Reid, why do you keep calling him Andrew??
  10. If there is no I there is no Karma? The Karma is not made up by an I. According to taoist philosophy, it takes alot of effort to build up an I. Most of what people have is just a funny mixture of psychological tensions - that's the modern definition of how personality is created = psychological tensions that create specific patterns of action and re-action. You come to this forum with the preconceived idea that if the majority of the threads are infantile postings, the IQ of the taobums must be really down the drain... Man... there are many that I know of, who would put you and your buddhist philosophy right where you belong, it's just they don't bother posting that much. You're not here to enlighten anyone. No I, no Karma... jeez
  11. it's not easy to make one size fit all. this is the main reason people 'leave' systems... if they would 'leave' their own frustrations that easily, it would be better. if not for anything else, than for this reason alone: many-many others had Very good experiences with it
  12. stuff i thought i knew

Now they are just 'friends'... Liked that part also. edit: i think i'll listen to it a second time.
  13. sure, see, only egos get mad... jeez... when i look at the pool results, i can't help wonder: as buddhists, they surely create quite alot of psychollogical suffering...
  14. Of Buddhists and Taoists

ok edit: but ah, the article was mentioning psychological suffering as well. as for what you said, i'm cool with it. i keep reminding myself that buddhist argue better than daoists
  15. Of Buddhists and Taoists

I don't think that's true All I know about buddhists is that they don't ever get enough of writing and commenting sutras See, hence your activity on the forum... simmilar... heady heady heady... tisk tisk However, I did apreciate one or two of your comments I hope you can apreciate honest feedback Also for what I know, all that buddhist Used about the fields I described above was borrowed from other systems/cultures, and mixed up with their own religious symbols. I still don't get it... being an somewhat atheistic and agnostic religion, it couldn't care less about practical things... i think it should be the other way around...
  16. Of Buddhists and Taoists

I am familiar with many Daoist sciences and technologies that change the world for better in fields as medicine, human society, astronomy, self-defense, chemistry, mathematics, study of nature, animals and plants, strategy and logistics, governing a state or country, doing business, building a house, enriching the relationship between human beings, between male and female, raising children, being devoted and honouring the ancestors and parents/grandparents, nutrition, detox... However, I know much less about Buddhist contribution regarding ACTUAL and Material well-being and care.
  17. Of Buddhists and Taoists

    There you go
  18. Abortion...

Dear Zhuo-Ming Dao, let me fist say that you are a breath of fresh air in our community, for both your wise insights and thoughts on Taoist and Buddhist history and philosophy. I for one greately appreciate your posts. Having a son I can only imagine your feelings about the loss of a baby... I must confess that I am very-very interested in the Taoist practices related to women, fertility, pregnancy and birth, and also related to growing a healthy and fully-developed child. If you wish, we can start a thread dedicated to this... Or at least you can point to a direction of search, that you feel it's appropriate. Thanks L1
  19. Where are you from

    EU, EU, EU
  20. how to prevent nocturnal emissions?

i'm not trying to rub anyone the wrong way, but i think i know where this view comes from. DS? i'm not trying to say he's not right, he is. it's just that, according to his words, 'there's more than one way of doing things'. yes, the 'yuan jing' is what we use in alchemy. but also, 'yin jing' and 'yang jing' can be both used to strenghten the body and the Qi. and this can mean ALOT, sometimes it makes all the difference... back to the original question, for a beginner that wants a SURE WAY: the Deer Technique. L1
  21. This verse by Chuang Tzu intrigues me...

I think searching for your own happiness, you will come across other people's fight for it... If you look not to your own happiness, but to the general happiness... it's a different story. If you search your own happiness, you're nothing more than a selfish person. I rarely see selfish people Genuinely happy. Besides, if you are searching for happiness, from psychollogy's p.o.v , it shows that you are emotionally imature. You should instead search for contentment. To be content with who you are, what you can do, and what you have. Hope this helps L1
