Time commitment for practice a day: how for you?
宁 replied to sunshine's topic in General Discussion
no seriously, what do you think your girl would say if you tell her, honey, I have only four hours a day to dedicate to our beloved relationship... how much do you think that relationship can last... and, if you can build something in four hours, and tear it apart the next 20 hours of the day... betcha you-know-who didnt tell you this one as it turns, you, my friend, are the author of a pretty avoided topic. i wonder why is it so avoided -

Followed a topic on another board, about the Six Healing Sounds and related topics. As I mentioned on another thread somewhere, guys that take Chia's stuff & related the easy way are making... how can I put this.... well, a big mistake. I'm not talking about students, not necesarelly. There are also instructors that fall in this trap. The rabbit hole of this particular practice is indeed very deep. I'm sure all of the seekers here, or maybe a major part of them, are searching for better ways to go deeper inside their body-mind system. Or at least, they want their mind to really sink inside the Dan Tian. The Dan Tian is a quantic space. Following the quantic laws, it's location is everywhere and no-where at the same time. It is inside us, in every cell, in every center. The major secret of the taoists is that they found out how to build up tools that will allow them to go deeper within. The deeper you can go within, the higher you can go. The first training is how to train the mind to be aware of every little bit of yourself. This can be accomplished with practices that have the power to dig deep inside you, and take out all the garbage you have accumulated in the early years. It is a major-major secret. And because some masters just give it out on a silver plate, it seems we often overlook it. The same with the previous discussions about colonics and nutrition. You'd be a fool to ignore such aspects. My only piece of mind regarding these things could be... don't take things the easy way. There might be a whole lot out there, that you are bound to miss. Good luck Little1

Spectrum, I think I see your point. Little PS: Landmarks are a fascinating subject. I'm sure you found them by now in a lot of cultures. Every one of them has a particular set, regulated by the specific goal of the culture/practice. I'm not sure, but we're not talking "mixies" here, do we? If we do, I dont agree. There is a lot of benefit in interdisciplinarity. But up to a point. Some landmarks have to stay. Dictionary a "mixie" = cocktail culture
-
Spectrum, my first zen-like answer on this forum - you are very right, and maybe you are wrong. They are right to post official landmarks. That is the traditional way, by wich many are still trained today. Why I imply is simply that this doesnt necessarely belong only to some. It's common sense. You need to know where you were, where you are, where you are going.

You can take this thread as an opposition of a guy that cant stand others "dissing" Chia, and Chia's stuff. But it's not, belive me. It's just a bewildered reaction to the incomprehensible human abillity to skip over very apparent things. Including my own.

There are a couple of ways you can learn any practice. One can be when you just pay the man, get the stuff, and get on with your life. Another can be when you want to know more about how does the guy practice them. How did he solved the inherent doubts about it. How did he came to trust this thing so much, that he would teach others to do it too. I'm only talking about people that really have that integrity. You may need 6 healing sounds to cool down the practices that make one too yang. When the body becomes too yang, it becomes more acidic. When that happens, a helluva problems crawl inside it. No matter how high a saint may be, if he doesnt mind the physical body, he is finished. Caput. There are a couple of paths that build up spiritual acheivement at the expense of the "federal reserves" of the body. They reach a certain threshold, and then they either cave in, or stop, because they dont have what to work with anymore. You can buy that, if you want. I dont. The next thing you need to know is health is really a challenge. Especially in modern times. If you neglect that in favor of "acheivement", you may come about empty handed in the end. There are a lot of threads of knowledge coming out of China these fortunate years. All you need is a sincere heart, and the will to get to that well-guarded jewel, spiritual independence. Dont stop the search. And when you search, do it not to confirm your doubts and ideas. But first, you need to clear up the seer. That's what the healing sounds can do for you. Harry, did you teacher ever told you what level is he? did J Chang tell anyone? why should I and how could I. I'm no way near that far. All I can say is there is just a little difference between me and you. Little, but it is The UTS doesnt quantify the levels like the Mo Pai. But it has so many layers. If you see just the surface and think this is it... And you search for definitive answers form me, but did your teacher gave them to you? Tell me, if you were to start fresh, which path would you choose: - one that tells you that if you dont go all the way, there is nothing to acheive? the one that tells you that you have to do it, and you can die trying? - or the one that makes the practice available for anyone, at whichever level one wants to practice them? or one that makes sure that even if you practice only five minutes a day, if you do it good, you will have good benefits?

Dont mind me, I use the term just to make a point, when it is the case. I can only giggle when I read posts like Denty's that speak about the uselesness of the 6 Healing Sounds. I cant bet on it, but I'm pretty sure he doesnt know what the heck he is talking about. The more you study about traditional daoist foundation practices, from authors that were really deep into finding out the "how's" and the "why's" of the practice, the more giggles come out. But there is another side to this Which I'm not really ready to talk about. But the main idea could be the following: there are two ways of searching, and maybe even two ways of doing the practice. One way is that you need tools like the six healing sounds, to clear out the internal space, so that "the inner seer", your inner guide, can guide you. If you dont, you will always have to rely on other authority. From what I've gathered until now, the teacher that points you towards inner confirmation is the best you can meet. He is even better, if he shows you ways by wich you can make even more clear what the "inner seer" sees. In the white path, the main accent is on spiritual integrity and independence. It is always stated that you can have anything, but if you miss that, you can loose all. But if you dont have anything BUT you work for spiritual independence, you can have what you want. This is the main purpose in the UTS. The building of the integrity and spiritual independence. This is the main goal, and it takes so long to acheive, that you simply cannot aford spending time developing "special" gongfu. This is what I am after. In time, I found out about the "secrets of the Mo Pai's". And guess where. We have the tools, and we can do it. That's all I needed to know. And the "secrets" are in plain sight, in Chia's stuff But until I was pointed at them, did I see them? At least the first four levels. But, you know, the story has to end here. There could be more to come, but it wont be from me. You said he is getting old... Have you seen him lately? I did. The daoist have a saying: When 60's, you have to be stronger than in your 16's. One more thing, those that brag about not feeling much when they see a woman. That's a no-no. That was the first question that Da Mo asked the monks from the Youthfull Forest. When they said no, Da Mo shook his head with sadness. Cheers

If you want you mind to sink into the Dan Tian, and really stick there, you really need to make some room... That's one of 1001 reasons Dunno about Colonblow...
-
if it does, then the jing is not retained. the areas near the dan tian are easiest to get congestion. there is something that is not done properly. i suggest learning the practice well, otherwise you will thicken the pack of those that applied it the wrong way and then started to blame the practice. but the tool is only a tool, if you harm yourself with it then is it the tools fault? good luck

Hello ZenB, you said you returned to the philosophically oriented taoism. I guess I could make a point, that you will be confortable with. Some taoist guy said the following: The secret is not what you put in, but what you put out/eliminate. Not acheiving, but loosing. The arthritic condition is accompanied by an overall acidic inner environment. A program on taoist nutrition that is currently applied in Tao Garden involves total body cleansing and alkalinisation, detox and "killing of the three worms". The information wasnt new, but the approach is original and compatible with modern lifestyle. Google out: - bowel management and colonic - alkaline diet - parasite programe - trofology / trophology - the science of combining foods Amoung the authors with good insight: Dr. Jensen, Dr. Young (Sick and Tired - best book, with lots of explanation). Workout: Tai Chi! A small and soft form will gradually re-open the pathways and facilitate the cleaning and healing process. The skin disease attack is a sign of a overburdened colon, too much toxicity. I wouldnt worry too much about sexual energy. It will come back, if it has a clean space to stay. Mantak's methods work best for me. Wish you well.

I thought men were more of a rational-intelligent type of beings Sheeshh... But until now, all the reasonable and common-sensical judgement I found on this thread, seems to wear a skirt... Bravo to the girl-power! PS: Who said men are insensitive and lack imagination? They have tons of it!

"Poor deluded Taomeow" and "Peace and Happiness" The main problem with vegetarian diet is not that it affects the body, but the mind. People become too... ...you know....

I think feeling the qi is not of the elite. We all feel it, some begin to feel it consciously. To be aware of the fact that they actually feel it. One of the guys I like to think of as being a teacher to me, said that when he first felt energy, and saw the lines of the energy, and the flowing of the streams of energy in the universe, he was very sad. Twas because he realized that he saw them all the time. But he wasnt aware of them. Awareness can be trained. The locus of awareness is what daoists call the Dan Tian. The traditionalists belive that these things cannot be explained by science. And that science cant even begin to ponder at them. But it's not like that. It's like by some Heavenly Decree, we were granted the equal right to develop and evolve. No one can take this from you. But you can give that away, if you want to. My advice is to get along and deal with the real world first. Get a good life going on, finish school, find your counterpart, get a job or make a business, and then, after you become proficient at dealing with the real world, any master will have more faith in your ability to understand the practice of the Dao. This means rooting for daoists: having a balanced day-life, to be able to sustain the night-life, the part of your life that is in direct contact with the Heavens. Without that, any "real" ability of rooting is just... how Winn said, "circus qigong". You may want to pursue that to impress your friends. I do that too, now and then. But I dont confuse that with rooting in everyday life and common sense. It is the best preparation I can get. I always remember that occult principle that says: As above, so below. There is nothing different out there. It all obeys the same laws. This is what makes the Universe united. Good luck!

2000 years of morality... think about it. the orientals were not interested in the moral aspects of sexuality, until fire practices and beliefs came to flourish there. for them, sex was not a matter of morality, it was a matter of health, holistic health. with food, it is the same. we are too little to change the ways of nature. we can try, and the current civilisation is a product of it.

the topic of food is of much importance 1. vegetarianism is not of the tao, because a taoist takes what is good from everything, without making too many assumptions 2. a taoist knows that humans are not the top of the food chain, and his diet reflects that humbleness. who am I to decide who eats who, when I myself am food for other beings? 3. when you are involved in alchemy practice, transforming the material into immaterial, you need to eat very well. in the darkroom practice, a trained practicioner has about 6 meals a day. if you devitalize yourself with poor diets, you cannot do it. as my teacher says, you cannot make alchemy eating two carrots a day. 4. taoist trofology is a very interesting subject. so interesting, that Li Ching-yun, when asked about the secret practices of immortality and longevity, said that you can practice ad nauseam, but if you dont have a strong, clean and healthy lifestyle, you wont acheive much 5. eating only vegetables you wont have enough power to function. many so called vegetarians eat tons of sweets to keep the energy up high enough so they can face everyday life. but the sugar from the sweets cant nourish the brain. the liver and the brain are overworked and devitalized. you eat yourself inside out, so that you can carry on. 6. poor diets were mainly for the monks. if they ate well, they would have a hard time controlling thoughts, emotions and sexual energy. so, they starved themselves to the point that the body didnt have enough energy to be a problem anymore. they sat starved and quiet. and maybe the ones that had real good reserves, acheived something. all the rest aged fast and died. 7. my teachers told me that spirit practice should be a means to awaken yourself to real life and facts. they were sad to see that people use spirit practice to get high up in the clouds. That's great too, guys, you are amazing! I know a teacher that, when asked by a new student, what he should do for the first time, his answer is something like, well, the first year, at least, have A LOT OF PATIENCE )

My "gut-feelig" is the BS detector. I have to mention that BS is sometimes very helpfull. I dont think we will be better off without BS. So, yes, when I think I need it, I can take a dive in BS I already did, and found it to be inspiring. You wouldnt belive what the change of perspective... I must admit, sometimes, BS for me is just something not very appealing at the time. The BS of today, may be the "Real McCoy" of tomorrow... Arent we funny birds...

I dont know on what criteria, but the mechanism is simple: the egg creates some kind of tubular structures in the liquid surrounding it, like a pathway. It is directed to the one sperm cell that the egg perceives to be more... well, energetic, I'd say.

Great post, mbanu!
