Perhaps personal comments are more difficult to avoid in spiritual discussions? Hm yes... -

Also, for sharing personal experience I really think it's better to do that in your practice section. Not just because of what you said but because personal experience are personal. The problem is that in your personal section it won't get much exposure. I think a solution to that could be a personal experience subforum which only registered and introduced members could read and post in. And it could be with more strict guidelines/rules and/or more heavily moderated. -

I think this is actually the first I've heard of it. I remember reading this though. It's an interesting observation. Although "pain body" is not in my vocabulary. Hm it's an interesting point, I guess I could be just too used to it to have a problem with it. I have. They pretty much sing kumbaya. You see the thing is it's easy to get along when the majority of the members are doing more or less the same things and/or have similar views. Tao Bums is a much more varied place with some very contrasting views. I do not really condone name calling but I have no problem if someone calls me names and I have also done the same, been banned because of it and I have no problem with that either. I'm not sure what exactly you mean by labelling since in this case if he said supporter it would've been a lable again. edit: though after rethinking it I suppose he could have just said "cat said..." and that would've been better. Personally what I don't like is passive agressive posts and insults between the lines (though I won't claim I have never done either). I prefer things to be out in the open. I don't think so. Oh I agree. I don't understand this comment. Firstly, what is its point? And secondly to me (I could've misread it) it seems that it's directed toward someone who eats meat in which case it makes no sense. This one would be better posed to a vegetarian. Since cows are vegetarians what comes out is also vegetarian. I agree, except with the last sentence which I don't know if it's true or not. -

If Raymond was suspended solely because of the cheerleader comment, I think that's pretty weak. Even if meant as a direct insult it's a totally weak insult. As for people not joining because of the abrasiveness of the board or whatever... The TTB membership numbers are growing constantly. There are also always many guests on the board. This makes me think people like to read it whether abrasive or not, or even exactly because it is abrasive (after all that is more interesting than if everyone just kept singing kumbaya together), but just might not have the guts to join in. Kind of like watching TV I guess. We might like watching action and horror movies, it draws us in, but how many of us would dare to actually be in the action itself? -
It was a Zen master giving you a koan. You missed a great oppurtunity.

I'm sorry but it's not really clear to me what you're trying to say here.

Songs, I think you're right, we (or at least I) can't know for sure. But that is generally the idea in Buddhism, that while plants are living things they are not sentient (i.e. posses a mind). As for your point on mind and "hardware", you are correct that mind always needs a body. But the body is empty and so is the mind. So in the end it's not a realist view.

Maybe he got dsysentery by being poisoned (intentionally or unintentionally) from eating bad pork or some mushrooms. Personally I don't think the cause of his death matters. And in Mahayana it's generally said he only manifested death as a teaching or something like that.
-
Probably without knowing it, you've made sort of a joke. Because some believe the Buddha died from eating mushrooms.

Sometimes when reading pith sayings it's hard to know what is being talking about without an explanation/commentary from that master or others. (Also I seem to remember reading similar things to this in the Kunjed Gyalpo.) Personally I think he was talking about emptiness.

Don't bother with him Hari, it's not worth it. -

Unfortunatelly most of us are complete idiots so our truths are also completely idiotic. It's a good question though. This is why I find it hard to tell someone who's still searching to do this or that, since what would be the point of him/her going on my say so? -
This assuming you really are listening to your body's wisdom or whatever.

No, you missed my point because that was exactly what I was reffering to. I made a simple analogy to try to illustrate this, not tried to explain the complexities of karma. -

Uhm hehe, but that is basically what karma is about.... -

Nails in the coffin? LOL, certainly not from this article. You don't even have to look to past life to understand. Since the writer took the analogy of a murderer so will I. Lets say that as a young man I killed someone because maybe I just thought it's cool. Fortunatelly I didn't get busted. But after a few years, I changed, realized that that way of thinking is no good and deeply regreted what I've done. Unfortunatelly after these few years the police solved the case and found it was me and caught me. Now, I am no longer the same person I was years ago when I commited the murder but I am still sentenced to death. Is that fair? Perhaps not, but fairness doesn't necessarily enter into the equation, after all, I'm still the same person who comitted the crime. I always find it laughable when people talking about karma talk about fairness. Karma doesn't care about you. It's not some kind of living thing. It's like if you accidentally fell into a meat grinder and I'd say "oh man, that meat grinder sure is unfair, it killed that good guy.". But I guess I shouldn't expect deists to be able to understand these things. -
Well in my experience I like the down the front, didn't try the other versions because there was no such instruction in Chia's methods (or elsewhere) and/or I didn't feel the need. The different flows are supposed to have different effects, I'm going to quote below from Chinese Medical Qigong Therapy. Also perhaps it's important to distinguish meditative practice and TCM theory/practice.

I saw the light, whatever it was, but I don't know much about lasers. I had a laser pointer and it sure as hell couldn't burn anything. :lol So how did you modify it so that it can burn paper?
-
But can a $2 laser pointer actually burn paper? What kind of laser would be required to achieve this?
