  1. KunLun Medicine and Healing Seminar

Hi Dan, have you uploaded any of the photos from the workshop?
  2. Book Club Anyone?

When I was asking if this is Dorje Shugden, I was refering to the pic you posted. The one I posted was Lei Gong. Sorry for the confusion. I am not very knowledgeable about Tibetan buddhism. I always considered it a little too dogmatic for my tastes.
  3. Book Club Anyone?

Pero, Is this Dorje Shugden? And is he the same deity the chinese call Lei Gong?
  4. My NLP experiment and book recommendations please

Good point, but it worked for me my first time, with very little knowledge of what I was doing. Granted it was on a 5 yr old, but I was still pretty amazed. My analysis is that my son's mind was running on autopilot (as most people are most of the time). When I handed him the picture out of the blue, it was like a logical anomaly to his mind. It had to break from the current thought prgram, and allocate resources to figure out what was going on. Why was I handed this picture? What is the meaning? Maybe strong will wasn't the best choice of words. How about a keen awareness? No, but I am willing to bet that advertising companies and the military industrial complex would and have. That's the scary part.
  5. Thank you for sharing this Chanwu. Would you be so kind as to give some of your background? How long have you been meditating? Do you use the method detailed above exlusively? Coincidentally, I just ordered Cleary's translation of the Golden Flower a couple weeks ago.
  6. Hi Matt, I started reading it again as well. I made it through the preface and realized why I didn't complete it last time. Some of the concepts are very deep, and very alien to me. That is part of the reason I was looking forward to it being the book club selection. Sort of an incentive to follow through with completing it. I still don't even quite get the gist of the light channel behind the eyes, but he describes an error moving energy up the spine and getting stuck in the head. I think this very issue happened to me last summer. I really believe that even if you don't understand the work completely, you can pull out a lot of little gems out here and there.
  7. Book Selection for March

I am in agreement with Steve. I think the club should be open to some peripheral works as well. Let's not make things too rigid. If you don't like a particular suggstion, then just don't vote for it. Seems pretty simple to me. If a book wins and you can't bring yourself to read it, then don't. Personally, I plan to read everything that gets voted. Sometimes you might just be pleasantly surprised.
  8. Does physical exercises cultivate chi?

Interesting, but why do you suppose the first time I could really feel these things was when I began practicing taichi? Can you point me to some of these descriptions. Not trying to be fascitious, I am actually curious.
  9. David Verdesi's credentials and research

No offense, but I don't think it would be very wise of him to give out his personal details. I have seen a couple of knuckleheads on the foundation forum talking about "taking care" of someone who didn't tow the party line. Again, these guys were probably just talking BS, and I believe the crap they were spewing was their own, but you can never be too careful. Some of the people on that forum are fanatical about David.
  10. KunLun Level 1 - Levitation

Yeah yeah I levitate all the time during Kunlun. I would videotape it, but the black hole energy keeps sucking up the camcorder. It gets really expensive. Also it doesn't work when other people watch me because their eye chi sends interference. The nice thing about levitation is that I no longer need the step stool to reach the peanut butter in the top cupboard. The bad thing is that there's never anyone to share my peanut butter with due to the bad vibes coming out their eyes. Seriously folks, some of the Kunlun claims seem wacky, but forget all that siddhi stuff. It's a good energy practice. Both for gathering and circulating it, as well as clearing blockages. I had a few "experiences" when I first started. Nothing like levitation though. After 4 months it is pretty smooth sailing. I can defintely attest to the energy benefits, and that is mostly what interests me. I really believe the experiences are just background noise, and although it makes you feel like you have accomplished something at the beginning, it is actually the opposite. I think these are mostly just signs of a blockage clearing as this stuff tends to happen more at the beginning. For me at least. P.S. WYG - Charles Luk discusses the vibrating in the dantien in his intro to Taoist Yoga. I think you said you were experiencing this a couple weeks ago, so thought I would pass it along.
  11. Hurrah for the man

A quote from one of my old favorites is in order: Wang Chi: "A brave man likes the feel of nature on his face, Jack." Egg Shen: "Yeah, and a wise man has enough sense to get in out of the rain." -- Big Trouble In Little China
  12. Secret of Sexual Energy

If what Drew says is true then full lotus will circulate the energy automatically. The best I can do is half lotus for around 10 minutes and then it gets really painful and interferes with my meditation. I can really vouch for Kunlun as far as circulating the sexual energy goes.
  13. Secret of Sexual Energy

I can report similar experiences (at around 35 days "cold turkey" abstinence now). I have been staying up later, but I am less tired and lethargic in the morning. The dark circles under my eyes have pretty much vanished. And it feels really good to master your lower nature or sexual appetite. The key I think is to find some sort of system to recirculate the sexual energy. So far Kunlun seems to be accomplishing that for me very effectively. If anyone doubts what I am saying, just take the retention pepsi challenge. Do not let yourself get aroused for a week. Meditate and see how it feels. The following day release. Then try to meditate afterwards. Your meditation will likely be very poor, and you will feel weak (physically, mentally and spiritually). It seems no surprise that many of the internal alchemy have these 90-100 day retention requirements. You are building up internal power and refining it. Jing-Qi-Shen P.S. Mantis, masterbation even if you don't release is sucking the Qi down to your sexual organs. Are you using a technique to recirculate it?
  14. David Verdesi's credentials and research

Pretty vague answers Sean. I am surprised you guys aren't more interested in this being his students and all. Can you explain why the PHD references were removed from the website? It does look odd to outsiders especially since Dr. and PHD was plastered all over the old forum. Classified by the Chinese government, yet they let a westerner in on it? Hmm, then when and how did he aquire his PHD if he left at 15? Have any of you guys ever met Wang Liping aside from David? There's a lot of things that don't really add up. You guys can get pissed off at people for asking these questions, but remarkable claims should have some hard proof to back them up. I think that's all Gamuret has asked for, but so far you guys have just presented fluff.
  15. Book Club Anyone?

  16. Inaugural Book Selection - Taoist Yoga

See what you got yourself into Steve! Here's the thing. It's already the 4th. If anyone has to order a book online they likely won't get it until March. I say stick with Taoist Yoga for Feb, unless there's a title that most of us have on hand (and odds are I do). As for Taomeow's suggestion about the classics, I am in agreement with Mal. I was thinking more of a book club than a course in Taoism. Not that the latter is without merit, but it might be a little heavy for some folks.
  17. Book Club Anyone?

Trunk you should have never told me your weakness: Kelsang Gyatso is watching you or beter yet: muhahaha
  18. Book Selection for March

Haha Kelsang freaks you out eh? I have an old taoist taichi vid with Eva. She is not really how I imagined her to look haha . Michael, I think you are right that Clear Light might be a bit heavy after Taoist Yoga. I already have Eva's book, but have not read it. But I am also interested in reading about Krishnamurti based on the snippets I have read about him. Kind of the anti-guru. I would be totally fine with either suggestion.
  19. Xingyiquan Video

It looks like some bagua palms around the last minute. Is this found in most styles of xing yi? I do remember a tale about a bagua and xing yi master fighting each other to a draw and then agreeing that their students would learn both styles. I just always thought of Xing Yi as very linear as opposed to Bagua's circularity.
  20. David Verdesi's credentials and research

In the Canadian university system we have a regular Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). and then we have a B.A. Honors program. In the honors program one is required to write a thesis, however there is no real difference in terms of titles afterwards. The honors program is geared more towards preparing one for their Masters and P.H.D. The Italian system sounds quite archaic, and I am not surprised that they would change it. Calling yourself a Dr. with a Bachelor's degree anywhere else in the world would not sit well at all. Perhaps David has some sort of honorary P.H.D., so I will give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.
  21. Taobums and change

I don't think it's insulting to say he is probably a nice guy. When people argue passionately, it is usually because they care. I agree with you that phony "niceness" is annoying, but I assure you I sincerely believe Buddy has a heart of gold underneathe his hard exterior. I work with New Englanders quite often. I have seen them get all worked up when arguing about things like the Iraq war etc... and though I think they are misguided, they are also the type that would pull over and help a stranger change a tire if they needed help etc.. These are generalizations of course, but I just want to make clear where I am coming from.
  22. Taobums and change

Hi Buddy, I am glad the board has differing opinions. Sometimes your delivery can be little heavy handed, and more often than not I think this works against you. Other than that I think you bring a wealth of knowledge to the forum. I have family in Leominster Mass. If I ever head down there I will look you up. Leo, Just roll with the punches man. I am sure if you met Buddy in person he would be a nice guy. Brgds!
  23. Most here have no problem with a teacher charging a reasonable fee so that they can make a living. Getting rich off the backs of your students is quite another. Keep in mind that money goes much further in China than it does in the west. So raking in $100 000 a year (and I think I am lowballing here) , would be more like $500 000 in equivalent terms. I think Sean even wrote that Jiang lives in a mansion with marble floors and enjoys the best of everything money can buy. Also if you want to talk about the teachings getting corrupted, which do you think would corrupt them sooner: giving away the teachings to a sincere student or selling the teachings to any knucklehead who is willing to pay your outrageous fees? For what its worth, the money isn't the main issue for me. It's just one of several things that put me off. Like one of the other posters, I wouldn't go down this path if it was offered to me for free.
  24. Movie Matsu

Many of the legislators in the west are no better. It's just that the organized crime has become more organized. P.S. It's a well known fact that Matzu is a Pepsi drinker anyhow. She will grant him no favor.
