Can anyone recommend any writings/teachings on this fascinating subject. Not particularly bothered about which spiritual tradition they come from. Thanks in advance SM

We are already Buddha. It's just most of us don't know it yet

Excellent ! This is the first time I have seen or heard of Adyashanti. He truly is a zen master. Even better than Tolle for getting the point across. Thank you Cameron for sharing.

There is a world of difference in reading these texts, and to actually understand them. If I were you I would skim over a few from different traditions, find out which ones resonate with you, and pick ONE. Study that one for at least a year. Use commentaries from different translators regarding that one text. This way you will become the teaching, and the teaching will become you. Good Luck

He has done a great thing in bringing spiritual teachings to a wider audience. A lot of folks don't like his persona or marketing, but really the guy is a zen master without the labelling.

More cakes to bake ! -
I also know Peter 'Master Dr Shifu Lama ??' Young. He is well known in this part of the world as being a fraud, a bully and a manipulative conman. The videos on the Pathgate website are ridiculous. I almost spat my tea out ! Come on people, get real. Don't fall for this BS.

is zhan zhuang off the west's grid?

Even though they come from the same source, I think LKC's is a more health orientated practice, whilst the ZZ of the Yao brothers etc is martial. This probably accounts for the differences in approach. -

Did you bake him a cake ? -
Rubbish. Tell that to the parents of kids who have committed suicide due to bullying. This is the real world we are talking about, not the world of the secluded mountain hermit.

Agreed. The I Kuan Tao don't even call themselves a Taoist organization. From my understanding it is a mixture of Taoism/Buddhism/Confucianism. Which is in line with most of the population in China

Why come on these boards to 'name call'. Show some respect instead of peddling your own 'religion'

But why not ease into old age rather than fall flat on our faces.

I voted no. After 28 years of various disciplines, I don't feel the need to practice martial arts anymore. Neigong, zhan zhuang, bodyweight and cardio exercises plus meditation are enough for me now. In the past I've trained: Shotokan Karate Judo Bujinkan Ninjutsu Ju Jitsu Wing Chun Muay Thai Taiji Xingyi.

The Book That Changed Your Life - What Was It?
Squatting Monkey replied to 宁's topic in General Discussion
I also have a few which have definitely changed me. Again there's more than three, but I just couldn't leave any out. 1. Xing Yi Nei Gong by Dan Miller & Tim Cartmell. THE book on physical internal cultivation. A complete nei gong set for health and martial power. Say goodbye to aches, pains and colds. 2. The Way Of Energy by Master Lam Kam Chuen. The finest book ever on Zhan Zhuang. Also includes the famous Eight Brocades qigong set. 3. Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu translated by D C Lau. Nothing needs to be said. 4. I Ching translated by Richard Wilhelm. Only started studying this recently, but I can already feel her immense spiritual energy. The forward by Carl Jung is brilliant. 5. Mindfulness In Plain English by Bhante Gunaratana. Vipassana (insight) meditation instruction, and for FREE ! 6. The Four Noble Truths by Ajahn Sumedho The WHOLE of the Buddha's teaching is in the four noble truths. There is no need for anything else. This book is also FREE ! 7. The Mustard Seed by Osho. A commentary on The Gospel Of Thomas. The REAL teachings of Jesus. A beautiful emotional read. -
I'm on the lookout for some reasonably priced books or maybe some informative websites to help me understand Traditional Chinese Medicine. Strictly beginner's stuff. Googling it just brings up far too much. I need some help in separating the wheat from the chaff. Thanks

I practice vipassana (insight) meditation. I was taught to just let everything BE. To observe whatever arises, without judgment. I guess the only intent is to understand the nature of mind and the realization that everything is impermenant
