ZenStatic replied to Peng Tzu's topic in General Discussion
There was actually going to be a little NYC meet a few saturdays ago for lunch in Chinatown, don;t really know what happened with that. -
New Jersey Forces Mandatory Vaccinations NEW LAW *FLU SHOT*

It's for children of a certain age, not everyone. I'm neither here nor there about it though. They are trying to protect all kids, so I'm not really sure how to feel on it. -
Anyone that uses T-Mobile for your cell phone service; they have a promotion going on right now where if you go to paperless billing, they will plant a tree through the Arbor day foundation. Good stuff, just thought I would give people the heads up.

Should Li Jiong be banned from Tao Bums
ZenStatic replied to mYTHmAKER's topic in General Discussion
No, that's simply not true. The talk about banning him came about because of his shady "business" practices and attempts at spreading fear to induce people to buy his "salvation". Try actually keeping up with what is going on -
Should Li Jiong be banned from Tao Bums
ZenStatic replied to mYTHmAKER's topic in General Discussion
Well, considering I have quite a few times shown LJ how he contradicts himself in his own words and flat out called him a con-artist, I can't help but feel that it must have been in part directed to me. -
Oh, please don't think I was in any way trying to say you should charge for your services. That was in no way what I was trying to imply. Just my issues make for a low income so money is always tight, so I have to spend wisely. The reason I haev been given on why it is hard to treat etc, is because I think many people are worried about definitively saying that they can help, and then no improvement is found. But, as I really don't want to get into too great of detail on a wide open forum regarding some of this, I think in the interests of prudence I shall just PM you.

Very nice. Now after looking at your website, it brings to mind a question that I have, and have never gotten a decent answer for from anyone, regarding the "alternative" medicine practices. You say on your website that you can treat emotional issues. Does this also mean that you could treat Bi-Polar disorder? And if so, would this mean I would need to be coughing up $50 a month forever, or is it a "curable" sort of thing?

Should Li Jiong be banned from Tao Bums

I think it's pretty sad for a grown man that professes to be enlightened, to refuse to refund someone money for a product that was DOA. Even worse when that grown man throws out claims that his "teaching" alone will help people survive alleged world wide disasters. Even if you go on a Christian forum, they have a few people that believe in the televangelists, and most sit and talk about how they are full of shit. Now, on this forum, there was our own "televangelist" telling people that if his teachings didn't work for them, it was their own fault, they were "third rate". Now, I am all for people following whatever path they want; but you have to be ready to pay the piper. Would you just stand by and watch someone rob a bank, if they said they were doing it for spiritual reasons? Oh, and your little age remark is just dumb. At any age, people can become desperate for something to fill a hole they feel inside themselves; a lot of the time it is with some kind of spirituality. If no one tries to make sure they aren't taken advantage of, aren't we all just as bad as the predator then? -
Another threat. You are indeed epic fail.
-
Wow. Nice veiled threat. You know, I just have to ask. Has this become your personal advertising spot to try and rip people off or what? You talk about you don't do charity, your family is charitable to you; how you are doing all this to buy things to save your family and friends; it's your "duty" to share the Tao with the world not just the chinese; that your course is so pricey not for the book, but for becoming one in the Matrix; that only a select few can actually connect to this Matrix. Can't you just get the hell out of here? You seriously make me want to track down where you are from and report you for fraudulent business practices. It is seriously screwed up for you to be trying to fleece people here; where people with a real interest in the Tao come. All of your own statements make you a liar and a fraud.

How can we survive the coming disasters?
ZenStatic replied to Li Jiong's topic in General Discussion
To start, I really don't give a damn whether or not you want me in "your thread", so you can just bugger off on that. I'm not having "fun", I am just trying to point out your glaring bullshit. You sit and say that people's greed is what makes them not "savable" So then by your own definition, your greed should make you unsavable as well. Not to mention, you talk about how your internal cultivation decreases the need for food and all kinds of other things; then why the hell would you need a lot of money for surviving? You don't need much. But really, the worst part of all has already been pointed out, and you have made no real explanation. You claim spiritual awakening, and are "very happy" that the "unworthy" are going to die. That's just sad. I feel pity for you that you can revel in the death and suffering of others. Oh and last but not least, you said that you weren't interested in teaching all, just "the worthy". So were you lying when you wrote this? -

Now are you going to say you teach how to breathe underwater too? -
If I can get there I bet my fat self will stick out like a sore thumb

I'd love to go, just depends on what time as the missus works saturday mornings.

See, it has been quite civil until now, and then you had to go and make personal attacks. You said yourself that you are using the price to gauge who should and shouldn't be taught. Then you threaten to raise the price because someone calls you on your 'unorthodox' practices? You are quite right that most people here are rational and friendly. It's that rational part, that makes people wonder about the 'motivation' behind your teachings. As has been pointed out many times, by yourself as well, the only difference between what you teach, and other practices, is this 'secret' matrix. What I find most disturbing about all of this, is that the only mention I have found anywhere on the entire internet, what google crawls of it at least, of your Xuanji school, so the posts that you have made on this and a few other forums. You expect us to believe that it has remained completely hidden from everyone but its practitioners since the Stone Age? Which also means we would have to believe that noone ever learned of this system unless they became a practitioner. But let me guess, you still don't understand why people would have problems with this, we're just 'troublemakers'.

Froggie, this is the exact way that most Buddhist temples are here in NYC. Pay what you can, because in all truth, the teaching of the person is the most important thing. And with all the bills I have to pay and everything else that comes with small children, I tend to give more when it is open ended. Taumeow, I understand where you are coming from as well. I am in no way saying that I don't think that he shouldn't get money for his teaching. It's all about the way he has gone about it. It went from all courses for $49, to making a new course only teaching a small part of the 1st course, for the same price as the full courses. Then he went on to boast that he charges people in china a months food budget for the 1st course, and we are getting it cheap. What I really don't get, and what bothers me the most; is the monumental claim that his teaching can save the entire world from 2 disasters that could wipe out over 90% of the population, as he said, and he doesnt feel an obligation as a human being to try and spread the teaching as much as possible. And only for the low low price of, now, $72!!! I keep waiting to hear Ron Popeil come out and start making a pitch. And the worst part is, this is supposedly a practice that has been hidden away from the world for 7000+ years. 5000 BC. That's like, when the oldest cave paintings they have found in the area of China were done. Extraordinary claims should be extraordinarily vetted.
-
It's not that I can't afford $72. But I don't just throw money out to anyone saying they have something great. especially when in their own statements, they can't make up their mind if they are in it for money or the greater good. Living in NY breeds a healthy skepticism of things that make huge claims.
-
I went into detail and showed earlier the contradictions you made in your statements. You make statements about how you are doing this because you feel duty bound to spread the Tao, that your teachings can save the world from huge disasters; but only if we pay your exorbitant price for a book that costs nothing to reproduce, and membership into a group where most of us in America have a good chance of never actually even meeting the teacher. If you can't fathom a reason for people to be sceptical from all that, then I have no idea what else to say as it seems pretty self evident.
-
No understanding needed. $72 is a lot when you have 3 kids and live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. But using how much money someone has as an indicator of their willingness to learn, has all the hallmarks of a scam.
-
So the poor fall into the dishonest or suspectful category? That's ok, you have shown yourself to just be in this for the money, so I will make sure that anyone that I know that hears of this steers away. If you were just trying to screen who did and didn't get into this for the 'good' or 'bad', money would surely not be how you would gauge it.
-
I'm sorry if you find this offensive, but do you have any idea how foolish sound? Now your claim is that your super secret school can alleviate huge disasters for humanity, and yet you charge such an exorbitant amount to teach people this cultivation. You really need to make up your mind; either you are going to teach to spread the tao for the good of humanity, or you are going to teach to make money. Trying to do the best of both worlds here like this truly makes you look like a con artist.

In case you have never studied those religions, they all share 1 central theme. If you are not one of us, you will burn for all eternity etc etc. Those religions slam themselves with comments like that.
-
Wow man. You really need to do some serious study if you actually follow the bible. Matt. 18:8-9, Mark. 9:45-46, Matt. 13:42-43, Matt. 25:41, Rev. 20:10, Rev. 20:14-15, Rev. 21:8 All speak about the lake of fire, and in far from a 'mental' place. My whole point is that fear mongering in religion is a terrible thing. It just happens that the abrahamic religions are practically based on fear mongering, as that is how they keep their followers in line. Someone asks if a certain practice is safe, and you post a scripture that is threatening, and largely irrelevant. Maybe you should wait until you have done some more of your religion course before you try to do much comparative religion stuff.
-
Oh ffs. I guess I'm just going to have to break this down some. Just like another other bit of scripture, this has to be taken in context, and then it is much easier to see how it is dogmatic and a teaching written to cause grief. Looks a bit more ominous and nasty when you see the whole of the teaching, not just an isolated sentence, huh? Comparing it to the Buddhist precepts is just silly as well. The precepts are to help you get farther in your practice by doing right things. Not saying that if you do those wrong things you will burn in eternity in a lake of fire. Comparing the 2 is like apples and oranges. And as a final thought...If we aren't to look at others in a lustful manner, wouldn't the world be a much less populated place? That lust we feel is our base instincts for procreation.
-
Yes, all religions are welcome to be talked about here, but I don't think you will find a single person that comes here to be beaten about with the sin concept when they ask a personal question. As I said, if they wanted that they would go to a forum where that is commonplace.
