It is not a fraud. Stephan Co is for real. He also practices qigong. I have seen him do so. Now of course one may meet some who say they practice who are frauds. "I was reading some forums online (not this one) where people were saying that pranic healing is a fraud because Master Choa died from pneumonia. That's like saying oncology is a fraud because the famous oncologist Dr. John Murren (chief of the Yale Medical Oncology Outpatient Clinic and director of the Lung Cancer Unit at the Yale) died from cancer." I agree with you. To those who don't - Guess what - EVERYONE is going to die of something.

Hi, I have done all the GOT movements indoors but with a "smaller" approach. But outdoors with Big approach is always the better. Many people learn these moves by doing them in front of their video monitor while watching the DVD's - and it works! Stillness-Movement done whenever/wherever one can.

This is going to vary depending on so many factors. I will say, most times with what we grow on our farm there is no need to bless the food - it already is; with grocery store food there is just about always need to do so. edit: To add, my personal choice would be the home-grown every time. While we CAN clean our food with blessing, there is no substitute for all the processes from nature (with no chemical additives) and the love put into food grown by one's self.

"Vegetables have a lot more light in them, especially ones with bright inviting colors, and meat has a lot more gross energy to it, especially red meat." And vegetables grown by one's self using natural growing methods have a lot more Light than those in the grocery store; extremely vibrant! And meat from naturally raised pasture grazed animals have more clean Earth-Light than that at the grocery store. Much of the vegetables at the grocery store has dim Light and much of the meat has this gross dark energy surrounding and permeating; I predict you (oldchi) will soon begin seeing this. It is pretty easy to get grossed out by walking through the meat section of grocery store, but if you do, eventually you will be able to discern the cleaner meat (sometimes it just isn't to be found). Start going to local farmer's market if you are not willing to grow your own veggies! Also naturally raised meat is to be found at these markets. In a small raised bed, it is extremely surprising how many vegetables one can grow. I encourage everyone to give this a try. Then try projecting Qi to the plants once a day and see what happens. This subject always boils down to Listening. I have always said, if we Listen, we can sit down at a buffet that has all the choices, one day we will eat different things than other days. Lots of people do have problems going on strict vegetarian diet and do better with meat in their diet. Personally I like home-grown vegetables (what I ate last night!) with meat when I need it. I prefer fish & venison & buffalo as meat sources.. Edit: And to add: Eating clean meat will not negatively effect your cultivation efforts. Staying healthy, with what YOUR body needs, is the key. But do keep on blessing your food.

One problem many folks have run into is to start a "MCO" practice without first doing anything to learn stillness for themselves or even to basically feel the qi. Best to first build Dan Tian so there is actual qi instead of just imagination going through the channels. Without doing this first the qi that does go through the channels can easily become stuck leading to pain and other physical problems. I have physically and energetically worked on my fair share of practitioners who did this. In Stillness-Movement and Gift of the Tao practices ALL the orbits open naturally and gracefully.

The thing is, one can read about energy body or energy bodies but the words are absolutely meaningless without actually doing the corresponding practice. I can assure you that the experience itself will differ from the words of any author, including me. If you do go with Kumar's books DO THE PRACTICE; don't just read. The book A Light Warrior's Guide to High Level Energy Healing speaks about a Taoist system that is inherently all about the energy body(s). It doesn't go into detail about this (due to above sentence) but does list a Taoist self-massage method that is geared toward stimulating & clearing the immediate chi protective field around the body, which chidragon linked to the immune system. It also lists a method of internal alchemy for raising the vibrational frequency of the total energy body. The neigong movements sets of Gift of the Tao (I, II, and soon to be III) are specifically geared at energy body development. These are available on DVD.

It is a thankless job in many ways. It is hard work. I always say that unless you know in your heart that this is what you want to do - then don't do it. Depending on if you go traditional western (MD, DC, DO); or if you go traditional slightly off-scale of public acceptance such as western trained MT; or if you go fully off-scale (in terms of the thinking of the majority of the population) and do something like medical qigong. The first gives you respect but I am told can be not as satisfying, although personally I think a DO degree would be an awesome jumping off point IF you are independently wealthy. If not, and you have to get school loans, chances are you would end up like the rest and in debt for 15 or 20 years working prescribing drugs (or in the case of DC running from room to room going whack on as many people as you can get through the door) to pay off the debt. In the case of MT there is more wiggle room to be slightly off the mainstream, especially if what you do has a high efficacy. Low efficacy and you will go broke or burn out. I will come back to this one in a minute. Or you could go to TCM school. I personally don't fancy this too much but do know many who have gone this route and are happy and helping others. But there are a lot of people sticking needles in. My suggestion is, if you do decide to go this route pick a school that is really big on Chinese Herbal Medicine. OK, back to MT's. And here I haven't even mentioned medical qigong yet. Why? Because in most states in the USA a person has to have a license to touch. And the quickest way I know is to do a massage school. But there is a problem with that. If you look at the statistics there is an 80% dropout for massage therapists in the first 10 years. Also, I don't know about you but I have had far too many massages where I hurt worse afterward and just didn't receive any benefit. Hmmn. Could it be that the field is missing something? And that is where the medical qigong comes in. My suggestion, if you really know you are supposed to do this type of work is go ahead and get the massage license while concurrently studying and practicing medical qigong - don't wait. There are several medical qigong schools in the USA; I have a certification program in Clinical Qigong & Chinese Taoist Medicine. If you have any further questions I would be glad to speak with you - just give me a call.

Stillness-Movement Neigong Review - June 2013
Ya Mu replied to yulongbr's topic in General Discussion
yulongbrThanks for the review! Yes, Gift of the Tao is an amazing movement system. As you have discovered It is the ENERGETICS of the system that makes the difference. We are a bit closer to releasing Gift of Tao III on DVD. Perhaps even by the end of this year! The medical qigong is also beyond description although we do try. This type of therapeutics is the medicine of the future! Future's Medicine Today! Yes, what happens at the workshops is definitely beyond words but you do a great job of description. You were a joy to have in the workshop. Thanks for taking the time to travel so far from another country to attend. Also thanks to everyone who attended, taking time from your schedules to contribute to these energetic sessions, and special thanks to all the out-of-country folks from Brazil, Great Britain, and Canada. I know it is difficult to fly so very far to attend these events. I felt we ALL got a huge boost from this session!- 12 replies

Clarice, Sorry you are feeling bad. I sent you a PM and have not heard back. In addition to wanting to know when this was that you had multiple sessions with me can you PM me your real name; I can't find any "Clarice Edward" in my records nor do I have any memory of doing multiple sessions with you. Of course my memory is not what it used to be so if you would be so kind as to PM or email me I would appreciate it. One reason I underlined the word "multiple" is that there has only been 1 or 2 people that I have done more than one distance session with at any point in time and their name was not "clarice edward". Of course I could be wrong and simply don't remember, but I think it entirely possible that you have me mixed up with someone else. In clinic work I have never made claims such as stated in your posts and have always specialized in pain elimination offering guaranteed pain relief or no fee. There are several people who post here that could, if they wanted to, verify that I always say I have no idea of the outcome of any particular distance session and that I do not make the claims suggested in your posts. Many could also say they received benefit from the session. In general on energetics: No professional medial qigong person will ever encourage the person asking for a session to not take responsibility for themselves. I actually know a couple of the people listed in the original post and, just like I do, have heard them tell people that self-practice is the single most important thing. No one should ever go to such a person with a "cure me" attitude as this will not likely happen without assuming responsibility for lifestyle and one's own health. The word "cure" is simply not in my vocabulary. I ALWAYS tell people that I have no idea of what the outcome of any session will be, and I know that at least 2 of the people mentioned in the OP also say something similar. In my own work I work on the energy body - not the physical body. This has the potential to accomplish many wonderful things. But not everyone is sensitive to energetics and not everyone can be immediately helped on the physical level with this type of session. Quite possibly it can take 6 to 10 sessions although I personally don't usually offer such. And if a person goes to someone and "doesn't feel a thing" then I would suggest to not go anymore.

Perhaps 20-25 years ago these differences were more drastic. Now, however, things have changed. What I have seen is a gradual equalizing of the male/female for males and a gradual equalizing of the male/female for females. Where once females had the capacity but were unlikely to follow through they are now following through (action). Where once males would follow through but based on rote versus intuition, now this has changed where the intuitive factor is much more balanced in males. Of course there is always the exception here but I am speaking in a general overall sense. I know that in the Stillness-Movement system I have very powerful female students. Also, there are about an equal number of very powerful male students. And yes, I have both male and female gay students who are very powerful. Perhaps SEEing is still slightly balanced more toward the female but this has also changed in the last 15 years. Once I mostly only saw female SEEers but now a goodly number of males. Most of these didn't know they had this talent until they started practicing Stillness-Movement. It usually manifests anywhere from 24 hrs to 10 years of practice. And the comment about males get colds and females don't. MOST of the Stillness-Movement students, male and female, get sick very seldom with colds and flu. Doesn't mean neither can get it, but in general the occurrence goes down drastically, with many reporting not having colds or flu in 20 years or more duration. I do not see faster progression in females versus males in our system. Both have potential for mastery in an equal period of time.

I am a big supporter of a complete system. However, I have seen nothing so complete or powerful in what it does as the Sequential Energy Center Activation, Balancing, and Dimensional Expansion. If someone were to ask is there ANY single qigong exercise, if practiced for only 20 minutes per day, that would activate and balance all the energy centers, open up and expand all the orbits, open up the channels, and expand the energy body and increase it's vibration rate as well as increase energetic & dimensional awareness through an alchemy process - I would say this single exercise would be the one that could have the potential of doing so. Which is why I released it as a stand alone DVD even though it is only a part of the Gift of the Tao II.

It depends on the practice. In our system there is a steady progression. We do have GOT I, Got II, and GOT III. It is based on energy body and a person't time&effort. Person A puts in 30 min a day and person B puts in 3 hrs a day; person B is much more likely to progress at a faster rate. In our system it starts with the awakening projection by the Teacher. This has the potential to give a much faster progression but does not replace a person's own time& effort. Once a person has practiced they come back and the Teacher works with them at their awareness that, through the practice, has changed from what it was when they first started. And yes, while I can't speak for other practices our movements DO raise awareness as they are all based on energy patterns from the higher levels; but yes the stilling of the mind and cutting of the inner dialogue is important in the progression and yes, we do the sitting concurrently. Not just sitting and not just movement - both; this leads to faster progression.

Yes, a lot of Chinese words and concepts do get thrown around, many times with whoever is doing the throwing having no clear concept of what is being referred to. One reason for this is that any particular author has to experience and refer in context to any particular thing being described, and the quote below addresses this: And this quote is by Zerostao, "i continue to realize that it is difficult for any of us to have an understanding of some-thing without experiencing that thing." I prefer now to not utilize most of the Chinese terminology instead I attempt to put it into terms that can be understood by westerners. And this quote by Lin, "Then there is the Shen Gong of cultivating to realize inherent wisdom, utilizing methods to learn from cultivated beings for wholesome practices. Also, this Shen Gong cultivates for the putting down of false thinking, and ending discriminations in the mind. Thus, allowing for the energy of the body to refine, the mind to refine, and wisdom to blossom. This method, when practiced with specific instructions, will allow the cultivator to listen without listening, so as to allow the body to free up stagnation through movement and standing, sometimes sitting, if applied that way. Lying methods are practiced as well." ... It is a high method of practice in that it focuses on putting down the internal dialogue, ending discriminating thinking. With this, attainment is "faster", than most other methods, but a foundation of practice is necessary to get anywhere with this method. Its all dependent on the cultivator, whether or not they "attain" anything quicker than most ...Shen, meaning spirit, is directly pointing to a more refined manner, meaning wisdom. ...intuitive movement. Intuitive movement is allowing the mind to stop the discriminating thinking, thus allowing the body to move in ways which result in healing, and strengthening. The mind, in turn, becomes more refined, meaning stronger in concentration, and less day dreaming, false thinking. ...intuitive movement. Intuitive movement is allowing the mind to stop the discriminating thinking, thus allowing the body to move in ways which result in healing, and strengthening. The mind, in turn, becomes more refined, meaning stronger in concentration, and less day dreaming, false thinking. ...This results in the realization of wisdom, and even the state of asking and receiving." Nice! Yes, Green Tiger, Stillness-Movement can be considered a Shen-gong form. How about Jing, Qi, Shen, Light. Once the practitioner reaches Shen level they then progress to the ability of Light manipulation. Every exercise we do is aimed at this, the shifting in the Gift of Tao movements, the raising of awareness in the Stillness-Movement standing and sitting, the energy projection by the Teacher, our approach to always being in the qi-state 24/7, the practice of "Listening"; all these progress the practitioner to the Shen-Light awareness state. Which leads to this: "One of the texts I was reading stated that an initial shen gong exercise involved repeating the question "Who am I?" " In the practice of Shen-gong one aim is to awaken to who we really are - our inherent nature - our true selves and our interaction with Heaven-Earth as well as our interactions of multidimensional awareness

There are many types of walking meditation as well as many types of walking qigong. We do Stillness-Movement walking qigong. The practice gathers energy instead of losing energy while walking. It also increases awareness. I remember a student telling me this story once. They had just attended a Stillness-Movement qigong workshop and learned the qigong walking and immediately left on vacation hiking in the mountains. She told me she was hiking up alongside a stream when she all of sudden decided to try the qigong walking. She also said she was extremely skeptical that it would do anything. In just a few minutes she said the whole world shifted with all the colors becoming extremely vibrant, each sound isolated and amplified, swirling mists of energy surrounding her, and other wondrous things. This was many years years ago and she says she continues the practice as that one event solidified for her how much different qigong walking is than regular walking. We also do Spirit Circle Walking in the Gift of the Tao II movements. And, of course, there is qigong running.

Possible cardio exercises in a meditative lifestyle, what do You do?
Ya Mu replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
Grettings 4bsolute. Here is one of my blog posts that somewhat addresses this. http://qigongamerica.blogspot.com/2010/08/internal-external-energetics-program.html The rebounding is a great cardio and cellular stimulation exercise. I also get a pretty good workout from the Gift of Tao movements. I think a well rounded combination is the best: internal-movement-rebounding-mild weights-Qigong running. -
Actually not one specific answer to fit every single individual. MOST who practice valid qigong can see qi to one degree or another with x amount of practice. X varies from person to person. However, it depends on many factors. Not everyone can see it. Some can see it and never heard of the word "qi". Some can practice, never see it then all of a sudden, while practicing one day BAM. It really depends on how much energy a person brought with them to Earth, on what a person's natural talents are, and on the time&effort they are willing to put in with a valid qigong practice.

Don't thing your statistics are accurate but IMO this forum would actually be much better off if folks posted with their real name. Probably would at least cut down on the anonymous bullshit that has turned it into something that many experienced practitioners avoid. It also would prevent the constant re-invention of old members into new members and multiple accounts that agree with each other when posting. Edit: Inline with the topic: If you are sick visit your physician. For colon health I occasionally take a variation of the old sailer's formula that has been formulated with modern naturopathic principles called "Blue Heron".

Having had several interactions with Amish people due to my interest in horses I can tell you that it is not good to generalize. Each group has different rules depending on the ordnung. Some allow things that others do not. My dealings have proven to me that they are just like everyone else or any group of people. Some really outstanding, nice, and generous and some not so much.

Chenping, yes I do think it would make a difference - possibly a big difference. If the system calls for visualizing a white orb between the 6th & 7th thoracic vertebrae that is where it should be done. Many know that things are usually said for a reason when teachers/authors say do a particular thing. A person could possibly interpret "between 6th & 7th lumbar" as between S2 and S3 which is a total different location. If a person is visualizing it on a skeleton, if their visualization actually does anything at all, qi will go to that particular area. So yes, I do think it should be taken seriously. But we can have fun within the seriousness, yes? Mandrake, I wasn't picking on you, just clarifying what I thought a simple mistake. I did think you meant thoracic. Also, I have worked in-clinic on someone with 6 lumbar vertebrae. Talk about a tall dude. He certainly would have the capacity to visualize a white orb between 6th lumbar and the sacrum.
-
The laughter was a private joke with Friend as he well knows basic anatomy. Sorry you feel you have to police laughter as laughter itself is a grand thing. But we can leave these type of mistakes alone and let the "get info from the internet free" crowd to have at it if you think that best. Do you really? It is usually referred to as "basic anatomy" not osteology as osteology includes advanced study. If someone chooses to read the post and attempt to "put their focus between the 6th & 7th lumbar vertebrae" just what are they doing? And if the post is not pointed out or corrected, more and more may choose to read and attempt this perhaps reasoning that he really meant one thing when he meant something else entirely. Do you really feel that basic knowledge of anatomy is not needed when people are referring to basic anatomy? I was attempting to politely get the poster to read and correct his own mistake versus saying something rude like "This is not a forum where one should post misinformation" which would be undeserved as I am sure it was a simple mistake.
-
"between your 6th and 7th lumbar" This was the part I thought he should check his memory on. This particular area I have never been able to access. HA HA
-
"...but if you want to, there is a point close to your navel, between your 6th and 7th lumbar (if I remember correctly), where you can visualize a glowing point of white light" I have tried and tried but for some reason this has never worked for me. Uh, I would double check that memory.

It is always appropriate to do the last 2 movements of GOT I before doing GOT II. We just did all the GOT movements at the workshop in Terre Haute. It was only several hours later, during the snowstorm and when we were on break, we realized that the air conditioner had been on in the room the whole time. Most folks had come out of their long-sleeves into short sleeves we were all so hot.

Looking for insight on opening a small retreat in Appalachian Mountains
Ya Mu replied to ą„Dominicusą„'s topic in General Discussion
ą„Dominicusą„ A few suggestions from someone who has rented venues in a great many places and the problems that I have seen. First let me say I too am a fan of the "tiny house" concept and think these would be perfect for retreat attendees. Still gonna cost somebody, though. Try to make sure these costs are not so high that you have to charge unrealistic premium prices to keep them full. I also think there is no inherent problem in you hosting multidisciplinary activities. I have taught qigong & medical qigong in western hospitals, religious institutions of just about every sort, abandoned factories, and other places where one would not think would fit with Chinese concepts. Make sure the center has access. Sure, off the beaten path IS cool, sounds cool, etc, but practicality is that often folks fly in from other areas so access is extremely important. Make sure there is access to food. People like to eat and not everyone is interested in attending an event where one needs to fast. If the nearest place to get food is 30 miles away there IS going to be a problem unless you intend a big building with its own kitchen staff. This will lead to its own problems as the cost will be high to do this. Make sure there is a central building with a large open space. Most programs need a fairly large space in order for an event to happen. For instance, it is best when I can find a 2500 sg ft open space. Hope you can get the funds as construction is not cheap these days. If you choose a smaller space you will have more limited type of events. If you do open doors only it will be limited to "in season". If possible attempt to balance out all these costs so that you will not have to charge exorbitant fees for rental in order to pay for them. Not an easy task in today's economic environment. Good luck! edit for sp.
