AS long as a person does not lose sight of the practice it is their's forever. Not a belief system but knowledge gained through the practice.

Have to wonder why you ask as I can't imagine why anyone would want to go to the trouble of attending a workshop then not practice. Why would you or anyone wish to wait? There are longer answers to this as there are many variables, but to attempt to put it in a nutshell, it depends on who you (the real you) are. Perhaps RV can clarify for us, but I do imagine there was some attention paid to the practice before the two weeks. Perhaps a concentrated practice was not attempted until then. If movements were done that IS a part of the system.

Impeccable logic and justification. I only had a debt of about 40 K when I borrowed the money to do what I felt was the most important. So again, people do what they feel they want to do and make excuses when they really don't want to do something. I could have make the excuse of "I don't have any money or the excuse of "but I will have to drop out of school" or "I don't have a credit card" and they would have been really good excuses. But instead I did what I wanted to do: got a credit card, dropped out of school, borrowed the money and went. You do what you want to do.

Sloppy, we have heard your and others excuses over and over - we have already had this conversation and I do not plan on hashing it out again. But if you really want to know, my first trip to China I had absolutely no money - borrowed it all on a credit card. I make no assumptions; if a person REALLY WANTS to do something they will find a way. If they don't they will ALWAYS find excuses.
  5. Fatigue

Very valid point. In clinic I have seen so many that have problems that came from doing forceful energetics with the "chakras". They read about or someone told them about what each one exactly does. Non forceful methods are IMO and IME much safer. I would beware of those that absolutely know what each chakra is, what it means emotionally & physically, and any number of things that seem to be repeated about as popular knowledge. Some of it is quite harsh misinformation. In the OP's case, IF he has no medical problems, it certainly sounds like an imbalance caused by playing with the energy centers.

Yes. I drove my car back and forth to China, too. ???

Chen Pan Ling definitely was a most studied and accomplished practitioner. And utilizing engineering principles to optimize his Tai Jee also made a lot of sense (force vectors, moment arms). I would say YW Chang also was as he had practiced since age 6. Although he always referred to himself, at age 90 something, as Chen Pan Ling's senior student, he was an amazing practitioner and Teacher. In the above remark I made it looks like I said I drove an hr to study with him. Actually it was closer to 5 hrs. I would get up at 3 AM so as to be there by 9 AM. One reason I don't have a lot of sympathy for those that can't be bothered to go to a little bit of trouble to study and learn the real thing.
  8. The Gift of Tao - Ya Mu's DVD

I don't think anyone should play with Chinese Herbs - much too powerful. Take when needed is my personal method.
  9. REBOUNDING

I like the folding one best - comes with carrying case and I can take with me to classes. Don't know if one would be more sturdy than the other. Mine is plenty well built. What ever you feel best doing. Try both ways. I don't think it would dissipate the energetic benefits. I do both.
  10. Do tree's ground energy?

Thanks We have a nice place where there are some very old trees that we will go to do the tree qigong. I have to say this; in a workshop many times the tree qigong is the "turning point" or the "moment when all energetically jells" for the students. Usually quite profound experiences occur.
  11. Distance healing

Speaking of medical qigong only, distance healing is a taught thing within the system and works quite well. I think the problem is that most people who seek it wait until they are at an extreme level of dis-ease before they "try" it. As in "I am dying of stage 4 cancer, will you heal me." Although perhaps not totally impossible, it is usually desperation clutching at straws to think that any healer is actually going to totally reverse the process in a session. So the answer to your question would be that it depends on the expectation of the person asking for healing. Sometimes amazing physical things happen and other times mild physical but needed spiritual things happen. It is only over a period of time that the person receiving can recognize these Spiritual things. So if you are considering medical qigong I suggest to make sure whoever you are asking to do the healing has actually been trained in such.
  12. Do tree's ground energy?

Yes But much different than trees. Trees are, to me, easier to exchange energetics and information. BTW I let students prove to themselves, at each workshop when we do our Tree qigong, that tress are sentient. Not "what I say". This becomes a self-evident thing. Once this is realized the "tree qigong" takes on a whole new level of energetics. The Tree's energy field expands by an order of magnitude.
  13. Do tree's ground energy?

In our system of tree neigong we have found several things to be of use when interacting with trees. First and foremost is approaching with respect. Trees have a way of withdrawing energetically when we don't. We find trees to be not things but very powerful sentient beings. Interacting with them in this manner, treating them as equals with respect, produces a 100 fold or more increase in any type of energy interaction. Also, trees have an interconnectedness that they will share with the person who energetically approaches in this manner. Awesome indeed. While grounding can occur with trees, a big rock would be better. Or simply touch the Earth barefoot everyday. Or try the grounding where one puts a ground rod into the Earth and runs a wire to their body or to an electrically conductive blanket while sleeping. Don't recommend anyone do that when storms are around.
  14. The Gift of Tao - Ya Mu's DVD

This is correct. Try to learn the whole sequence. But that said, each movement will also stand on it's own as a particular vibration. Sometimes I just feel like grabbing one of them and doing it, because it is the particular thing I need at the time.
  15. REBOUNDING

One can do real neigong along with the rebounding. Just takes a bit of getting used to it. I do all the time.
  16. REBOUNDING

A quick note to anyone considering purchasing a Needak brand rebounder. AS a dealer for Needak I can tell you absolutely that Needak has a minimum price that they allow their dealers to sell the rebounder. Shipping charges are also standardized (per country). So if anyone finds a price that is below what everyone else is selling or if a dealer promises "extras" be aware that there are a lot of scammers on the internet. Instead of searching for the "best price" just choose a dealer that is selling at this minimum price (I sell at the minimum price) then contact Needak to verify if they are really dealers for the product. All orders are shipped directly form the factory. Some people just want your CC info.
  17. Japan

I was speaking strictly from a technical viewpoint and not from a spiritual viewpoint. It is a moot point as it is a done deal - the nuclear plants are now there. If there is not a world catastrophe from Japan in just a few years it will be politics as usual for the nuclear industry. I honestly at this point don't think anything short of such (world catastrophe) would influence the powers that be to stop construction of these.
  18. Japan

Gotta love those good ol safe per GE Mark I reactors. We have a bunch of them here in US. I was an activist against the construction of these in the 70's. Quit trying as none wished to listen. Did an analysis of one major facility in US; can't remember how many failure modes were found but it numbered in the several 100's. Design life (see how many in USA are operating past original design life), decommissioning, failure modes; IMO many reasons this is not the way to go for power. IMO distributed power systems are the best bet for our future - not centralized systems.

There is an optional group dinner (meaning everyone is on their own, but we do have a special room reserved) with chef Qi Saturday after the class. Well worth opting for as he is a world class chef; after all, how many people going to qigong workshops get to eat food prepared by Qi? Also, if you get to Terre Haute early enough or have plans to stay later, the big cat sanctuary is awesome; one of the big cats there is sensitive to qi and responds.
  20. The Girl with "X-ray" eyes?

Scientific verification is always biased. For one, anecdotal history, no matter how much or how long, is immediately thrown out with no bearing on the conclusion. Of what I describe above I don't have science to verify - oh wait I do - science as in comparison science. When I was with the two "x-ray vision girls" they "saw" me and told me of the 17 places in my jaws where my bones didn't grow back properly. There is no way they had access to my medical records which indeed showed I broke my jaws in 17 places. In all they were right about nearly 10 different things that I had medical science to say the same exact thing. These girls were not 4 out of 7 but 100% on everything. I have seen similar with students here in USA. When is everyone going to wake up and realize that these things are simply a natural part of ourselves, natural talents that usually (but not always) require cultivation for a person to come into their own with. What I see with Stillness-Movement neigong is that these natural talents usually manifest within somewhere between 1 to 3 years of practice.
  21. The Girl with "X-ray" eyes?

Indeed. This is one o the talents that can manifest. Usually not unless cultivation is added but occasionally just a natural thing that happens. At the hospital in China where I trained there were two "x-ray vision" girls. The work was kind of like at western hospital doing x-rays before any treatment. The patient came in, was scanned by the girls, then the qigong doctor projected qi as directed by the girls until they were satisfied there was no longer any sick qi in the body, then on to the next patient. These girls came into their talent after one year of practicing Stillness-Movement neigong.

Very good points! "There is also evidence of 'formless' forms of neigong being associated with martial arts in several countries going back a long way. Why? because of the freedom and PRESENCE to the moment." Presence to the moment is one of the most important things that we cultivate. I think most of humanity has been distracted to the point where everyone is scattered, attempting to live in multiples periods of time rather than in the moment. It is sad that when we even attempt to carry on a conversation most are miles away in yesterday or tomorrow. Presence to the moment is something that applies to ALL walks of life, it matters not if one is a martial artist, postman, bank clerk, healer, doctor or lawyer. The application of presence to the moment will bring back and significantly enhance the total experience of life.

Thanks for your comments and the review link. A fairly balanced review from a MA standpoint but definitely shows (as it should) the MA background of thinking of moves in terms of body alignment, moment arms and force vectors instead of the energy itself. It is a tough transition for many to make this leap. Although I have to add that I personally liked and got along fine with the reviewer, I do take issue with his conclusion of placebo effect. We, as in all practitioners of this method, have significantly addressed this misnomer over a long period of time. Of course in the hospital in China where it came from this would never had come up at all. So naturally those in the West that have never been exposed to it think in terms of body-mind and the only logical conclusion is placebo, for they find it extremely difficult to think non-linearly and in terms of the energy itself. Read the post by kempomaster (post #94), a 35 year vet of martial arts, about his results treating horses and dogs. I also have many experiences of doing so with more than positive outcome, as in miraculously amazing outcome. There is no way that these animals have any body-mind interaction of "believing" it will help them. So I do protest the view of this being a placebo method as it most definitely is not. Here is one instance I wrote of The Great Goat Healing recently. Also, I have had client after client who came in to the clinic with the preliminary of "I don't believe in this stuff AT ALL but my (wife, husband, friend) insisted I come to you. The results of nearly 100% were the same as in those who came with the "I do believe" attitude. Also anyone reading this may wish to re-visit the thread I started and posted of clinical results. I also have had several IMA arts teachers who have attended my workshops, one who has been teaching since 70's who has attended multiple workshops, so I can fairly say there is absolutely no conflict with your MA practice. I guess the only possible conflict I could think of is that if you did learn the healing methods and if you were ever called upon to use your MA in a personal situation, you would then think "dang, I just created more work for myself as I now have to turn around and heal them." You may wish to read this blogpost as well which is where the information I posted earlier came from. This addresses the "why learn it" part of your question. And remember it is not about believing anything but simply practicing the methods. Everything I say becomes self-evident with the practices - not what "he said". If you have access to space anywhere around Nashville or know of someone who does, you might consider sponsoring a workshop there yourself. The place where I taught several workshops there has changed ownership so not much chance of me teaching there anymore.

So whats a few layovers and school compared to succulent...mouthwatering...sensory orgasmic taste...drooling...world class...awesome...sushi...prepared by number 1 chef specially for our group.... Oh, there's the qigong too. Just messin with ya...

Yes, i agree form can be a hindrance. The Gift of Tao were created by this very concept; let the energy create the form. You would be welcome anytime. Don't know if you eat seafood, but if you do I will attempt to entice you to attend this Terre Haute workshop by telling you Saturday after class we are going to a meal (not part of the class - everyone is on their own, but we do have a private room set aside) prepared by a number 1 sushi chef by the name of "Qi". That is his real name. For a Qi Gongfu class, pretty cool, eh? He carves the appetizers into these amazing creations of world class food.
